Here's some of my handmade flowers for a swap.

As I didn't have much info on this photo of my grandmother and her sister I used information about the year it was taken, hence the title '1937'. Its quite interesting to see the cost of things like petrol, houses, milk & bread.

These are some photos I took of some cockatoos in our garden, the cheeky things were stripping all the branches off the Mexican Tree Fern and making a huge mess.




This one features a photo I took of this stunning flower in our dam. I kept it simple so the focus stays on the photo. The paper is a specialty shimmer paper from K & Company's Que Sera Sera range

Some scrappy goodness

Hi there. I started making some flowers last night for a handmade flower swap I'm participating in at Pages In Time. I've never done a swap before, so it's all new to me. Basically we make ten flowers and send them to someone, and they do the same for us, so I can't wait to see what my swap partner (who is in Malaysia) comes up with. I'll post some photos as soon as I finish the flowers.




My second layout shows a way of using transparencies on your page. The paper has been completely altered with Glimmer Mist, and has so much shimmery goodness in real life.

More news!

Hi everyone. I have some more exciting news today. My layout "Back to school 2010" was chosen for publication in "Ready, Set, Create". I'd posted some pics of it earlier this month. I was being creative this morning, what do you think of my sign?

Thought I'd upload some layouts for you to look at. These are quite quick and simple ones.


I love these Prima paintables. If you haven't seen them before, they come without any colour, and you can decorate them however you want. The 'outer frame' is what I coloured with watercolour pencils.

My BIG news!

I can finally tell you all my BIG news! I've been selected as a member of the design team for Artfull Crafts in New Zealand. You can see the announcement and an intro to the other talented design team members at Artfull Crafts blog.
I'm so excited. Can't wait to see what goodies they send for me to play with, especially because they stock all my favourite brands.

Taught a card class this morning, 6 christmas cards and 6 gift tags, in K & Company 'Peppermint Twist' specialty papers. These are such cute colours for Christmas.

I haven't taken a photo of the cards yet but these are the papers we used. Yummy, aren't they!



And....suprise, suprise....I've started a 'Male' layout! It's a bit of a challenge that I set myself. I did an ultra girly page a few weeks ago, and I wanted to show that any layout can be adapted to other styles/subjects of photos. Some scrappers have trouble visualising a layout in different colours, etc. I find that alot of times in class we adapt everyones layouts to suit their photos, but I wanted to have an example on display.

Here's my "Girly" layout! You'll have to wait for the "Male" version.

This will be taught as a class next Tuesday, 17th August at 9:30am, at the Greenbank Scrapbook Shop.

Have you seen the new products that were showcased at CHA? Gotta say I can't wait to get my hands on the new Prima masks, and the Ranger mists. Tim Holtz's new Alterations dies and Texture Fades are pretty cool too. I just wish it didn't take so long for the new products to get to Australia.

What happened on the weekend

We went to the Jimboomba Car Show for a look yesterday, and considering it was their first year, it was really good. Lots of cool old cars! They also had some market stalls so we got some delicious homemade chutneys, chilli jam, and lime marmalade.



Spoke to our DD Jessie this morning (who's now in Townsville on her school band tour). She went to Magnetic Island sightseeing, and in the evening they played at the North Queensland Jazz Club. She said they got a standing ovation from some of the audience and had to play an encore. Today they are doing music workshops all day, and then travelling to Proserpine.

Got to do a little bit of scrapping on the weekend- a couple of quick cards, and got half a layout done. I took a photo of the cards....





I embossed them and used Smooch ink to highlight the raised areas. You can use the Smooch inks in a number of ways. Paint with it directly from the bottle (as I did on the black and purple card). Use it like a watercolour. Apply it as a rub with your fingers (as I did with the gold edges, and on the green background on the green card),you can blend two or three colours using this technique. The photos don't show up the gorgeous shimmer.

I still can't tell you, but....

I still can't tell you my exciting news, but....here's a few layouts I've done.


This one was done using a few spritz of Glimmer Mist to colour the background paper. I used Fiskers 'Treading Water' punch along the edges of some Kaisercraft paper. The photos aren't great, but it was one of the rare occasions that the kids can play with water (since we're basically on permanent water restrictions). Dakota had a play day with a friend, they soaped up the trampolene, and spent the next few hours giggling, laughing and sliding all over the place.

A rare layout of me...but I absolutely love the bright colours on this Prima paper.
