SDC140.......A Vintage looking piece

This week the very talented France Papillon Charles (a link to  her blog is on the right hand side of this post) has set us the challenge to make a vintage looking piece. This is what she said....
Lots of us get excited when we get our hands on an old ledger, old books, or old family photos, but those are often hard to come by, or very expensive. Because of that lots of us become very agile in making new things look old. Using inks, distressing paper tools and other yummy techniques.
How about we combine all that love for all things vintage and all those yummy techniques with our favourite Stampotique Stamps and create a vintage looking Stampotique piece.

So if you would like to join in a make a project and link it up at Stampotique Designers Challenge Blog you could win rubber stamps! The link to the blog is on the right hand side of my blog. Look forward to seeing what you create here is mine.....
I made this little house as a memory box to my Dad filled with things that were his or remind me of him!
Here are some step by step photos showing how I made this and the lovely Stampotique stamps I used in the process...
I started with a new wooden house that I removed the small frame in the middle of and painted.
After that I stamped Kraft glassine paper with these stampotique stamps
I then cut the paper to the size of each little window in the house
And glued it onto the back of the house
After this I found bits and bobs I had around the house that were dads such as a tin of old watch bits and bobs as dads hobby in his old age was mending watches and collecting watches!
After that I printed some photos of his mum and dad and a wedding photo of him and mum and added them to the little house. I found some fishing type net and a few shells, as we lived at the seaside and dad loved fishing and the beach, various other and bobs, that felt appropriate !
All these things I put into the house and made this..... Adding the stampotique cat at the end as dad loved cats and we had four over the years of we children growing up.
Now it's your turn........ I look forward to you joining us over at the SDC challenge blog.

What's on my work desk Wednesday

Here is my desk this week all back to normal, busy !
My friend came to stay and we went to the NEC at Birmingham and then crafted on our return!
Here it is a little closer
You can see my glasses punches, material grunge paste and tags, here are the tags close up
I have been using the grunge paste on the tags and a journal page, which I then sanded down, here it is
You can see the little house I have now finished to give it a vintage feel
You can see the plain one next to it also. You can see the Stampotique stamps I used to cover the back in front of the house and my stamping mat. There are a few other bits and bobs like white Stazon  scissors etc.
I also made a card for a friend, and a couple of ATC 's which I have posted.

Stampotique Designers Challenge .... 139

This week over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge blog my team mate R. Maria Sabina has challenged us all to make a Masculine project. In next months Craft Stamper magazine the free stamp is designed by her, and there is a link to her blog on the right of this post, she is amazing, I just love her stamp designs, and use her cute rabbit stamps lots!
So she said we had to put the bling and cuteness away in the draw and do a card for a man to make them feel special at least once in a while, with something for them.
So with that in mind I thought that Father's Day is fast approaching if my dad was still here what would I do for him.
Well we lived by the sea, and he loved the sea and fishing and fisherman stories! In fact for generations the men folk of my family have been fisherman at sea!
So in honour of my father, Great Grandad, Great Great Grandad and GGG Grandad I made this card.

The three mermaids represent me and my two sisters, see the likeness !!!!
Here is a few step by step photos
I started with a basic stepper card

Then using my Gelli Plate and a Neelz Expressionz mask with the fish cut off I made the background paper

Covered the card with my background paper leaving bits stuck out

Till it was all covered

Then stamped these three amazing mer people
You can buy them on the Stampotique Webb site there is a link on the right of this post.

Coloured them in with Prisma pencils and glued them into place

I then added a quote and and a Happy Fathers Day message,my card is done

SDC 138 use Green as your Primary colour

Kirsten ( link to her blog is on the right hand side of my blog) has challenged us this week at the Stampotique Design Challenge Blog to use Green as our primary colour. She is a huge fan of using primary colours in her projects. Since it's March, the beginning of spring and St Patricks Day, she is challenging us to use GREEN as our main colour, of our project!
Here is my project

There are lots of projects from the design team on the blog, to see these just click on the badge marked Stampotique Designers Challenge, ( on the right hand side of my blog)and have a look at the great projects they have made!
Here are some step by step photos to see how I made this project.

Start by stamping this image called Smushasha #6121( here is the link to the stamp http://www.stampotique.com/stamp/penney-torrente/6121.html ) onto glossy card stock with Stazon.

Work distress ink round the outside of the card stock, I used two shades of green.

Then I used the stamps below #splatter blob #3013, Starfish #3015 Seaweed #3066 and Splatter #8832 all from Stampotique, I stamped the first image then stamped again without re inking, thus having second and third generation stamping. I used the markers to add colour to the main image.

Then I inked round the edge with black soot!

Now it's your turn to make a project using Green as your main colour, have fun and show us what you have made over at the SDC blog! Look forward to seeing you there!

What's on my work desk Wednesday

All cleaned sorted out and almost empty it was...............

Then I started crafting on it again!!!
Just incase you don't believe me here is a picture of the before

And then after....

So you can see I did clear it all away and tidy up!

Well back to how my desk is now.....

On the left is some canvas paper I have sprayed with Dylusions inks, then in the middle is a door hanger I have painted pink as a base coat, here it is up close,

Behind it is a project I was doing on glossy card, here it is up close. There are some step by step details of this in the post above Showing second and third generation stamping!

Over to the right are three little wooden houses, I showed one last week saying I was having a think about what to do with it,I have now stained one of them and started on it, I will show you once it is finished ! To the right are some stamped Stampotique images I am planning on colouring in and a little ATC folder full of ATC's I have swapped. That in mind I must start making some ready for our 5th year ATC swap coming up, I will try and make a few to swap!
It has been a rather busy week with family and friends and cooking, organising and hosting a baby shower for my daughter

SDC 137 Using a textured background

The wonderful Kay Wallace, (there is a link to her blog on the right hand side ) set us a challenge this week of using a textured back ground
This is my project, using a textured Background

Here are some step by step pictures showing all the different layers and textures I used....
The picture below is a 12x12 sheet of cardboard I have painted and then added some plasters tape to.

Next I mixed some paint with a very textured paste

Then I added the paste to my cardboard, onto the mesh and into the ridges. I then changed over to a more liquid glossy paste and applied that through a stencil, you can see how they are very different, in the picture below.

Next I stamped carols flower small and large and coloured them with pencils and blended them with fluid and stumps

Then cut them out.

I then moulded the flowers

And added beads to the centre for a different texture!

I then added some burlap fabric to the corner at the bottom

Then more to the right hand side

Stamped this image by Jo Capper-Sandon called Seaweed, and coloured it, then cut it out.

Stamped my title with alphabet upper and lower, using paint and cut them out leaving a white line round them.

added my photos

Then added all the lovely Stampotique images, I have cut out to the layout

Added seed beads to the large flowers

And then Matt and layered my photos and stuck them all down!

This was the end result a very textured scrapbook layout!

Thank you to Kay for setting this challenge ... Now it's your turn to have a go and show us what you can do with texture!
If you click on the link on the right hand side of my blog marked stampotique designers challenge blog, it will take you to the blog where you can join in the fun and have the chance of winning vouchers to buy stamps! You could be chosen as a top3 as well, so head on over and join the fun!
