Crew and his puppie

Crew and the boys got a puppie from Santa. Crew loves to give it hugs!! He also screams bloody murder when he wants to hold him!!! Enjoy...

Today is your Birthday!!!!

I have the best family in the world!! They always will take time to make Skylee's birthday a good one .Every gift is wrapped in birthday paper, everyone is so thoughtful. Everyone drops everything and goes the day after Christmas to make it nice for her. Thanks everyone you're the best!!
Here we are at breakfast at Moores.

Pictures of you....

Happy Birthday baby girl!!!

When you have a birthday a day after Christmas you miss out on a lot. Everyone is tired and worn out from the day before. Even your mom delays posting your blog until the next day..Sorry, but here it goes.
nineteen years ago today was a VERY happy day in the Bowden house. A baby that we had all waited a LONG time for finally came. A bouncing/ thumb-sucking little girl!! Much to Brock's disappointment, he thought for sure it was a boy!!
From day one she did things HER way. she slept with her rear-end up in the air!! Sucked her thumb, tucked her hair behind her hair with her thumbs, etc., etc.
She was dressed in pinks and purples EVERYDAY with HUGE bows to match every outfit. But being a girly, girly was not the way she would choose. She went fishing and hunting with dad, Shot hoops with her brother, and all decked out in bows and pink, would play football with the neighbor boys!
She has been different and a Joy from day one!!
She has always had a compassionate side to animals, the elderly and her friends. We love her sooo Much and are blessed to have her in our lives.
Happy birthday!! Love you baby girl :)

Grandpa Gary

We had a sad week this past week...Scott's dad had taken a fall the day before Thanksgiving, he had hit his head but nothing of any concern. On thanksgiving he talked and ate, but at the end he became very emotional and told everyone how grateful he was that they had came and said , "Family is everything." Anyone that knows Gary knows that is NOT like him. A man of little words that shows affection very rarely.
We had all mentioned we were surprised by his emotions on this day. The day after, Skylee was in town, and called to see how he was doing, he told her he felt a lot better. This was around seven thirty. At ten thirty that evening Scott's mother called and said Gary had passed out and they were rushing him to the hospital.
After a very long turn of events from brain surgery to life support to many days of waiting, Gary passed away Wednesday evening.
It is very hard to loose loved ones, especially when not expected. Although we were able to prepare in those longs days of waiting, I think we still were surprised by his passing. He will be missed :(
As I have lost my parents years ago, He was the only grandpa left. Gary's great Grandpa was named Benjamin and every oldest son since then has carried this name. It is Gary's middle name, Scott's middle name and Brock's. It will be Cohen's middle name also.
So as hard as it is to say good-bye, it's going to be a blessing to say Hello to our new little Cohen.
Skylee heard a song recently and the last verse goes as follows:
Old man, hospital bed, the room is filled with people he loves and he whispers, " don't cry for me, I'll see you all someday." He looks up and says, " I can see Gods face"
This is my temporary home it's not where I belong windows and rooms that I'm passing through
this was just a stop on the way to where I'm going I'm not afraid because I know, this was my temporary home.

Good-bye Gary. Hope you enjoyed your "temporary home" and are now enjoying your "eternal" one.

Today is your Birthday!!!

We had Sunday planned to celebrate Whitnie's birthday, which is Dec. 2nd. But as usual our lives didn't go quite as planned and I ended up in the emergency room! ( long story)... party canceled... We decided to resume the party tonight. we had a lovely ( although Brock and Tyce would beg to differ) dinner and after had everyone over for cake and ice cream.
We gave Whitnie a Nintendo DS, so she'd have something to play in the hospital as she waited for Cohen to be born. She also got some comfy slippers from aunt Dee-Dee. We had loads of fun, lots of laughter and a great night. ( please don't tell Skylee she missed the party shh!!)
Happy Birthday Whit! We love you!!!

OOOOOH!!!! Christmas Tree

Last year our Christmas tree blew a fuse and the middle section of lights went out. Bodean being the red-neck that he is said," it was fine" and, "it looked great" and, "none would notice"! But it really bothered me.
I decided to buy a new one this year, but to avoid the "we really didn't need that" speech, I woke up early on black friday and went Kohls with Whitnie to get a tree that was on sale for $60.00. Bodean surely wouldn't even notice $60.00 being spent! We were there at 4 a.m.( not a typing error) and we ran in, got the three trees that were left, and Skylee carried them out to Whit's brother-in-law who kindly loaded them in the car. YAH!!!! We accomplished our goal.
I was a bit disappointed by the size when I set it up, it was a little smaller than my old one, and not as life-like, but heck, $60.00!
I plugged it in and proceeded to decorate, all the while singing joyous Christmas hymns at the top of my lungs!!! I finished, stepped back to admire and all of a sudden...POOF!!!...Yep, you guessed it blew a fuse and the middle section of lights went out!!! UGGH!!!! So I'm going with the red-neck attitude this year. It's fine, it looks great, no one will notice...
And a merry "Freaking" Christmas to you!!!!

The terror of texting

I don't like posting blogs without pictures, but I was trying to get a picture of Skylee's phone and she didn't put it down long enough for me to take one.
I love the idea behind texting, To be in the movie or a meeting and be able to send a quick message home feels so good. To be able to talk to Sky while she is in class makes me feel like I'm right with her. But the bad of texting is driving me crazy. I feel like the kids now-a-days ( I know I sound like an old lady ) don't even know how to communicate. Skylee will text me forever so I eventually call and then she's quiet and clams right up.
In the last month she has been asked out on dates, told goodbye, had fights, made up, thanked for gifts, thanked for a fun night, etc., etc. all in texts. How weird is that??
Where are all the gentlemen that used to have to get the guts up to call and ask her out and nervously await a reply? oh ya, they are in Az, Argentina, Washington, every where but here. It seems like all the good ones are gone.
And remember when you would lie on the bed and talk to your friends for hours, giggling and enjoying each others company?
Is it just me or is this ruining todays generation?
Is the reason so many marriages fail is because no one can communicate without a phone? Hummmm I've really been bothered by this lately... I needed to vent...
Next semester I made Sky sign up for a communications class. I think it will be a real eye opener for her, I hope she learns some valuable lessons that will help her in future relationships with guys as well as family and friends. It should be good...That is if she can quit texting long enough to listen and learn.

Happy "HUMP" day Elder Cyps!

Well, believe it or not, Skylee's friend/missionary has been out serving for one year today! Wow! time goes fast when it's not you waiting, Sky said if one more person told her it had gone by fast, she might hit them!! So apparently it has not for her. A lot has happened in this past year.... Libbi was born as well as Anna, we survived Libbi's surgery. Crew turned one, Brock and Whit are FINALLY having a baby. A couple of friends have passed on. and much more. Sky has graduated, played in the world series in Oklahoma, went to state in softball, moved out, started college, dated and dated and dated...HA HA. She says everyone she has dated since he has been gone has only made him better in her eyes. A year goes by quickly, But a lot stays the same. I probably "sell" Josh out every time a new guy comes around, Saying, "Are you sure HE'S not the one?" But Skylee has stayed steadfast in waiting for Josh.
It's fun to see such true feelings. A lot can happen in this next year, but if they really make it and things end up the way they have planned, a lot of us are going to feel foolish that we didn't believe as much as they did... Good Luck you two.
Love you both.

Family Christmas photos

We really wanted a pic of Whit being prego. She hates them but oh well, we finally got her!!! Is she darling? Someday she will thank me :)

I ended up taking these pics when we got home. I forgot to have her take one of just my girlies. The girls were going to rub Whit's belly for luck, but she thought that was creepy!! ha ha

They are darling hu? they made the night semi-bearable!

Okay so the Grizwalds have NOTHING on us!! To get a family Christmas photo done around here, is a national event. We have known for weeks we were doing them tonight and EVERYONE was threatened with their lives if they didn't show. When Skylee came down with the swine I told her, "you had better be better by picture day or else!!!"
Well, Brock informed me on Saturday he was not going to be home, he had to fly to Las Vegas for work! UGGGGH!!!! So we talked to the photographer and she said she could add him in.( don't look to closely this year ) Okay so things were good right? ummm no, the boys were fighting, everyone was crying, Sunnee decided her shirt wasn't cute on the way there!! Up until a half hour before pics NOONE knew were Scott was, or if he even remembered the nights events. We got to the spot and everyone was crying and fighting, it was almost laughable, if anyone was in the mood to laugh, so when and IF you receive your Christmas card this year, just remember how happy and loving our sweet little family is...NOT!!!!

Miss Piggy

We found this picture and thought it was quite funny.

Skylee is still battling the swine flu. She woke up this morning and felt good enough to go take a bath and we changed the bedding and such, I was thinking she was on the mend, but within about fifteen minutes she was already back to being sick again. We are hoping she gets some relief soon and can hold down some sort of food. She has not eaten since wednesday night :( She has not even had the desire to eat. Today she feels like eating but has been unable to keep anything down. Sprites from chevron ( yep, only chevron) all the only things that are agreeing with her. hope for a better tomorrow.

She said she looked too bad to not cover her face.... She is still beautiful even being sick!

Conference weekend

We had such a fun conference weekend! Skylee came home to watch it with us. And even though Scott got up at 3:00 A.M. on both days to go hunting, he was home in time to watch conference with the boys. I thought it was so cute they would lay right by him and just watch. At one point Jex asked "when is Heavenly Father going to speak!" ha ha he is so funny. Scott told him that Heaven Father speaks through all the speakers, because he can't, they deliver his message... to this Jex replied "well, if he can't speak, can he wave? " Oh my, kids are so cute :) it was a good rainy weekend... from Skylee's homemade donuts, to her skateboarding in the house ( yes, one of the things I miss most!)

Scott and Jex watching the first session

Sunnee and Skylee enjoying each other :)

The Crew!! He likes his picture taken and then he says, "let's see!" and you have to show him.

Fishin' for some fun

Every kid caught a fish! Check out Aubree she was the toughest boy in the bunch!!

Aubree and Grammy unhooking her fish

How we didn't lose a kid in the pond I have no idea, they were all right over it!!

Go Aunt DeeDee!!

Jexster and his fish.

For Tyce's party we took him to the fish farm, This was a PERFECT boy party, the only problem was we forgot to bring a man that could actually take the fish off the line for the kids!! Ha Ha well aunt DeeDee was a trooper and took over those duties!! ( koo-does to her) The kids had a awesome time. and EVERYONE caught a fish, go figure!! the best part was at the end we were walking out and one kid asked where his fish was, well, Sunnee had told the man to keep all of them, because she certainly didn't want them. So all the way home I got to her the boys wah-wah that they didn't get to keep their fish!!! Ha Ha... Oh Sunnee...

Tonight we took Tyce to Tempayaki for his b-day dinner, he loves the fire and enjoys this place so much. I can't believe my Grandson is nine years old!! That is unreal to me. I remember when my own children turned nine how old I felt, you can imagine what I'm feeling now. I love this guy so much. He is such a sweet boy and will always hold a special place in my heart because he was my first grandchild. Happy Birthday Tycer!! Love you :) Grandma Netso

Prayers for Libbi

This week is the week many of us in our family have been anxious about for a long time. Libbi has her surgery on Thursday. We know that she needs this and that she is a strong little girl but it's still hard to send a baby that we have all fallen madly in love with in to have major surgery. Since Skylee has to head back to college, this was her last night with her until after the surgery. They were doing a little girl on girl bonding. Please pray for Libbi this week, prayer is a powerful thing and the only real thing we can do to help her. the rest is in the Lords hands. Love you Libster :)

Working 9 to 5

Well actually, not 9 to 5 but everyday 1 to 4 ha ha. A friend of mine stopped by tonight and said I never blogged anymore. Well, I told her since Skylee moved out there really isn't anything to blog about, but I guess I could update people on my new life. Since the baby moved out I thought I'd go back to work. It's been interesting. I love dressing up and talking to people. I LOVE that I get paid for doing a lot less work than I ever did at home. I even get paid on Monday for not being there! How crazy is that? there are downsides. I don't get to see the babies as much. I feel like I'm working all the time because when I get off the real job begins, and I have a church calling that I'm often (okay, always) doing at midnight when I find the time! But it's fun.
I guess I could also tell you the pros and cons to having a daughter off at college...

Pro: I have time to help Sunnee and her boys, and she gets me all to herself and loves it!!
Con: She can be quite pesty when she wants to be. Ha ha

Pro: I get to park in the middle of the driveway!
Con: I have no one to tell me if my skirt is ugly on Sunday ( do you really think Scott cares?)

Pro: I don't have to wait up until she gets home from curfew
Con: I worry about if she's home at a decent hour.

Pro: I get the bathroom all to myself.
Con: there's no one watching me put on my make-up telling about her life.

Pro: I don't have to see her texting all day.
Con: I'm concerned who she is texting.

Pro: I've become the caretaker of a beautiful Golden Retriever
Con: I'm VERY mad at the dog!!!! he doesn't listen to his new owner.

Pro: There's oodles of room on the church pew
Con: This past week when Scott was hunting I looked like a loser sitting by myself.

Pro: She is growing up , having a ball and learning how not to be dependant on me.
Con: She doesn't need me anymore :(

This next week our little Libbi is undergoing major surgery. I know that there are bigger problems in the world than sending your baby off to college, it is a good thing. The day Mindi and Kurt send little Libbi off to college I hope they remember this blog and how lucky they are to have her and to be able to send her off. I feel truly blessed that we have the resources to be able to send her. I know we are blessed that she is healthy and smart and willing to attend college. Although It's EXTREMELY hard to be without her in our house and we miss her smile and fun little attitude. I know that I'm blessed that she is where she needs to be.

Baby bird leaves the nest.:(

The day has come for you to go, I watched you closely so I know.
I recognize your restlessness, It's time for you to leave the nest.
I've taught you much of what you know, it's been a joy to watch you grow. You fluttered first then learned to glide, while I was flying at your side.
A part of me will fly away, as you leave the nest today. A part of you will stay with me,
You will always be a welcome guest, within my nest.
You've had brief chances to explore, that left you eager to see more.
You've taken tiny solo flights, but always close within my sight.
Enjoy the rhythm of your wings, the freedom soaring always brings. But in that endless span of sky, be careful where you fly...
I'm trusting you know to the Father's care, for whenever any sparrow falls he is aware.
A part of me will fly away as you leave the nest today, a part of you will stay with me, you will always be a welcome guest within my nest.
I'm grateful to have been blessed... to have sheltered you in my nest.
( Janice Kapp Robinson / the nest)

Good luck Boo, I love you.

Going away party

This past wednesday we had a going away party for Sky and her roommate Allie. It was so much fun! A ton of family and friends showed up. Scott figured there were over one hundred people! It is starting to sink into Sky that she is really leaving. She keeps crying and then laughing and then crying. She's excited but very scared too. She found out that her roommates don't move down until a week after her, so She is a bit nervous about that. Well seven more days. It's going to be a long week... or a short one depending on who's looking at it.

Wanna be gangster/hunter

I had to post this picture. Today Jex and Tyce were trying on Skylee's old hunting clothes to see if any of them fit. Jex came down in this get up! I'm not sure if he wanted to be a hunter or a thug. Ha Ha

Game Over

Well it's official, after ten years of traveling, ballpark hotdogs, sunscreen, lawn chairs, blankets, umberelas, coolers, cleats, bats, ballbags, broken fingers, jammed toes, rasberries, messed up shoulders, Bad refs, good refs, bad coaches, GREAT coaches, dirty uniforms, staying up all night and washing dirty uniforms, doubles,Screaming father, loving father, family support, no support, triples, grand slam, strike-outs, ejections, friendships, lost team members, new team members, good years, bad years, winning, losing, etc., etc. it is final came to an end. Skylee officially played in her last tournament this weekend. She has already been asked to play in another one this next month, but with school it will be hard to get away, so that probably isn't going to happen. It's been a fun time in our lives. Some bad but mostly good. It's time for the real world now. Hope she plays as well in that game...
Skylee and her dad
Scott telling Skylee's friend what happened in the game. ( look at Skylee's face...You can just hear her saying... "Dad!")
Skylee's team for the past ten years. There are only two remaining players from the first original team, Skylee being one of them.
