We have a family tradition of taking a picture in front of the Christmas tree. It started with me wanting a picture of the girls and I. Back then we only had two kids. Ben took the picture for me and he did it the next year as well. By that time we had three girls. Now we have three girls, three boys and Ben has never made it into any of the family Christmas tree pictures. Poor Guy. He isn't even allowed to be in it now because that isn't the tradition. One day I want to figure out a cute way to display the years of Christmas tree pictures. I don't know how to yet. I figured I would give it a few years, acquire a few more pictures, and then ask one of my much craftier sisters to think of a good idea.
I try to take the picture when we are all dressed and ready for church. We get in our best Christmas-colored attire and take the picture. Not this year. I couldn't pull it together in time. It's amazing what one more kid does to your life. You still get things accomplished, just at a slower pace. Ben took the picture the day after Christmas.
We also had Reddick's blessing Christmas week.
Ben and I are looking our age. :)
Love this picture of Red. He is so cute.
Last of all I wanted to show you this Christmas tree. It is my Grandma's. Growing up I thought she had the prettiest tree. It was my favorite thing she did. Knowing that, my grandma said I would get to have her tree and the decorations when she died. She is still alive but too old to decorate a 10ft tree so I got it early! She had a ton of decorations (12 boxes) but, funny enough, I went and bought more. I loved how the white poinsettias looked and she only had three out of the 12 boxes of decorations she sent. I stocked up on some more poinsettias, Kaylee picked to go with gold and silver this year, and this was the end result!!
I loved this tree. I love everything about our family room during Christmas. There is the tree, the snuggly couch, the fire, the windows. I love it. Ben made another of my dreams come true by having two Christmas trees in our house. We had this one in the family room and then got a real tree for the living room. My favorite part was walking from the kitchen to the front door because you came around the corner and there was another tree. Each year gets better and better for us and Christmas is a great way to celebrate and end the year.
