Spring

It's funny that I'm writing about spring today when the fog rolled in last night.  But for the last few weeks the weather has been switching between rain and sun.  It's been great for getting my yard work done.
This was the other day during Spring break.  We have a huge deck our back that wraps around the whole back of the house and also keeps the pool enclosed.  I like this picture because we live in an awesome location.  We live right next to the school and then the church is on the other side of the school.  We also have a view that includes a volcano-something that Ben has always wanted.  This house has so many little things, like a volcano view, that we just lucked out on getting.
I have been working like crazy trying to get my house ready for a birthday party here this weekend.  I like my house to look nice so I've put a lot of time into the yard.  When we first moved in almost all the landscaping was dead.  So I ripped it out.  Our planters are back to square one.  They look pretty bare but once the new plants start getting bigger it will look nice.
As a house warming gift my sister bought plants and landscaped the fountain area.  I felt bad because she had to dig up tons of this weird grass but she did it.  She planted some new flowers-that promptly got ripped up by our two boys-and added mulch.  It looks really good.  All that was left from before are  a lavender bush, the Japanese maple (love those) and some grass thing.  I can't wait for it all to bloom.

While she did the fountain area I worked on the other planter.  Last year when I was interested in the house I saw that there were tulips which I love.  So this spring some Dandelions popped up but NEVER bloomed.  It worried me that the tulips also wouldn't bloom.  I've been waiting and waiting for them to bloom for weeks and check them every morning.  The finally bloomed this last week!  They look so good!  I love tulips!  But back to the planter...I bought a bunch of flowers on clearance at Lowes and planted then.  I also painted the trellis and planted morning glories at the bottom of it.  I really hope they grow because I love plants that climb.
So this is the finished product for the front yard.  I'm getting a lawn mower this weekend and once all the flowers grow a bit it will really look nice.  Especially when the Japanese maples fill out.  I want to buy some chairs for the front porch and then I will feel like I'm back in the South.  That is the only thing missing.
