walking home

Daisy and I dropped Heidi off at school and then walked home. Daisy was wearing pants for the first time and she had a little trouble walking and getting up in them. We matched today. The headband is Daisy's new favorite hair accessory. Each day she gets a new one and wears it all day long. It is really quite cute. She looks like such a big girl in her jeans.

Are you kidding me?

Heidi brought home a big envelope from school about fundraisers.  When I was in school the fundraisers required the kids to go out, get pledges, and then run as fast and as long as they could.  So easy and the kids pretty much had to do all the work.  Times have changed!!  Now there are all these things that the kids have to sell!  The stuff is nothing I would buy and over priced.  Plus I keep thinking that there is no way Heidi is going to try and sell this stuff to people.  It all falls on the parents!  So annoying.  I don't want to do this.  I HATE trying to get people to buy things.  So sadly, as Heidi is checking out all the prizes for selling 40+ items I just feel bad because it is not going to happen.  I would rather just go get her the build-a-bear prize on our own and not have to do any fundraising.  Anyway, this was just my rant about this dumb fundraising.  I miss the days of the jog-a-thon.

PS-We have officially lived in TN for 2 years!  And in less than two years Ben will be done with school...I can't wait!

Daisy picks out her outfit

Daisy loves to get into the dresser and pick out her clothes.  She brings them to me and we put them on.  Turns out she can only reach Kaylee's clothes so nothing she brings actually fits her.  Last night after her bath she pulled out a shirt and shorts from kaylee's drawer to wear.
here she is going back for more.
And she found some underwear that she needed to wear.

ET

I wish I had my camera ready to go tonight when the girls came out, each one holding Daisy's hand, and Daisy was dressed in Heidi's tye-dyed pajama shirt.  They all thought it was hilarious and Daisy started her playful scream and ran away in her funny walk that she does.  It reminded me of ET when he is all dressed up for Halloween in a big sheet (see the picture below).  Anyway, it just made me laugh and make me love having funny girls.
Here she is in her too-big shirt.

I tried to get a video of her walking but she was upset so it wasn't as cute as her happy walk.  When she is happy she seems to waddle a little more and look more like an alien.  Oh yes, and those big red spots on her face are mosquito bites.  That is one thing that might drive me away from the south...the stinking mosquitos!

Off to School

Today was Heidi's first day of school.  Yes, today is only August 10th but still her school starts this early.  This morning we started off with a Hancock tradition...she had to clean her room before she could do anything else.
After showering, breakfast and making her bed she was ready to go.  She has her backpack, lunch, and new school shirt.
I actually liked the backpack she got.  There are no princesses or other characters.  i think Heidi is just pretty.  She looks so cute.
But we had to stop taking pictures so we could be there in time.  Her school is from 9-4.  No, she is not going to work, just going to school from 9-4.  What in the world does a five-year-old need to spend 7 hours doing?
We live a mile away from the school.  I did not appreciate until today the blessing it was to grow up right next to the school.  What a walk!  I pulled all three girls and carried her back pack.  I was a sweaty mess by the time we got there.  There are three sections of uphill on the way to her school.  It was an hour walking to get there and back.

Here we are starting the walk.  I asked the girls to smile, Kaylee wouldn't (surprise, surprise).  Heidi is trying to turn her head towards me.
Here is Heidi at her class.  She is shy and does not talk to adults. If it weren't for that one annoying trait I would have just home schooled her.  I was not sad to see her go, instead I was mad an annoyed at the fact that she is going to be from 9-4.  I just don't think kindergartners need to be gone that long.  And I know all the arguments for it.  I DO NOT BELIEVE IT.  I know most kids who are in daycare stay away from their parents that long and they do just fine.  But, that doesn't make it the best thing for the child.  The best influence for any child is their parents, their mother specifically.  Seriously, if she wasn't so annoyingly shy I would have just kept her home.
Here was the funniest part of it all.  I asked Kaylee and Daisy to smile for a picture.  Kaylee at first was looking away until I said "Heidi's gone now" and then her big smile came out.  Now we have 7 hours to kill before we get Heidi.

Corn on the Cob

I finally got my camera back and so we have some new (but not good) pictures.  I just thought this was funny since there was only one corn on the cob left and Daisy had it.  Kaylee still wanted it though.
Daisy was not happy to share.  She says 'ma' when she is trying to say 'mine'.  She also says that for mama but I can tell the difference when she means mine because she says it in a really loud, grouchy, mad tone.

Ding, ding, ding!!! We have a winner!!

This morning I woke at 6:05 to breakfast in bed, went to the bathroom, came out at 6:10 knowing I was pregnant.  I called my mom at 6:22 to tell her the news (that meant it was 4:22 in California).  And from there, I told all those who called me to wish me a  happy birthday and the rest got to find out through the blog.  So, I don't want to hear any complaints about how you heard or when...you knew the same day I did!  And, judging by when I got pregnant I would say I am two weeks along.  You have nine long, boring months to wait.  (I must admit that it was more fun last time with Daisy but I am sure there are many who would disagree)  Thanks for humoring me and playing my little game.  I thought it was a fun way to announce it.

Wheel of Fortune!!

As I woke this morning to my 28th birthday (and breakfast in bed) I thought about how blessed my life is.  I have so much to be grateful for and I seriously LOVE my life.  I wouldn't have it any other way.  There is a phrase that keeps running through my head to describe my life.  I thought it would be fun to play a Wheel of Fortune to see who can guess the phrase.  So, just pick a letter by leaving it in the comments and I will fill in the blanks until we have a winner!

The Birthday Week Begins

I have no camera so nothing new to put up but this is a special week since it is my birthday week!  I am going to be 28! (That sounds so old especially since this whole year I thought I would only be turning 27...it is like I missed a whole year of my life)

We haven't done anything for my birthday week yet, and have little planned since Ben is so busy with school this week.  BUT, last night after we took a Sunday walk there was a knock at the door and it turned out our friends the Terry's and Joey Hale showed up for rootbeer floats to celebrate my birthday week!!!  It was the nicest thing.  I was surprised that they even thought of me to know it was my birthday week and then they brought ice cream??  Can't beat that!  It was a great way to kick off the birthday week.  Thanks to the Terrys!  And of course I didn't take pictures because I don't have a camera.
