Laughter is the best medicine

Kaylee's pointer finger on her left hand is rotting away (so gross, she wouldn't let me take a picture of it).  We went to the doctor, got the prescription, dropped off the recycling, went to the library, stopped at krogers to get the prescription but told it would take 25 mins, decided to go to McDonalds and get the free hamburger they earned through the summer reading program, got gas at costco, went back to krogers to get the prescription.  Here is what I am told by the pharmacist:

"Oh man, this medicine smells horrible.  It is a mixture of wet dog and garbage.  It smells worst than it tastes but we'll add a flavor anyway.  She needs to take this three times a day for ten days.  Make sure she takes it with food or she'll throw up.  It will also give her severe diarrhea.  If the diarrhea lasts longer than three days then call your pediatrician."

Are you kidding me??  Is this not the worst medicine ever invented for kids? But this was not the funniest part of the morning.  There are some times when I just have to laugh because the other alternative is to get so mad and frustrated that I lose it!  We parked across the canal to go to the library which meant that we had to cross a short bridge.  Kaylee has developed a fear of dead, dried up worms and won't move if she sees one within a 3-foot radius.  As we are leaving the library I have Daisy in one arm and I am carrying our heavy book with the other.  Heidi starts crossing but Kaylee sees a dead worm somewhere and starts screaming.

KAYLEE: There's a worm!!!  There's a worm, there's a worm, there's a worm!
ME: It's dead.  Just keep walking.

Heidi trips and scrapes her knee.  She starts crying.

ME: Heidi, you are fine.  Let's go.  Kaylee, come on.
KAYLEE: I can't! There's a worm!
HEIDI: It's BLEEDING!!
ME: Fine Kaylee, you can stay but I am leaving.  Let's go, Heidi.

Heidi and I walk across.  She is crying because of the blood, Kaylee is crying because of the worm.  And then, like always, when I try some sort of threat to get Kaylee moving it always backfires because she could care less.  Heidi, however, starts screaming when we reach the other end of the bridge without Kaylee.

HEIDI: No!!  Mom, I have to go back.  I have to get Kaylee.  I can't leave my sister.  I love her!
ME: Heidi, it is OK.  Quit screaming.
HEIDI: No!!

She runs back to Kaylee and grabs her by the hand.

KAYLEE: Don't touch me!!
HEIDI: Kaylee you have to come.  You can't stay here or you won't get to be my sister anymore
(she is sobbing by this point).  Please, Kaylee!!  Please, I love you!
KAYLEE: Don't touch me!

Slowly they start working their way across the bridge with Kaylee crying and Heidi saying "I'm bleeding!" in between her sobs.  I just had to laugh and wonder if anyone else was watching this pathetic display of dramatic, sisterly love and bad parenting.  Oh well.  We made it home, Kaylee took her medicine and now we will just wait around for the diarrhea.  How was your monday?

water park

We finally made it to the Collierville water park (talk about a LONG drive).  The girls loved it though, especially Heidi.  I ran around with Daisy and I was soaked by the end.
Daisy just like the little thing that came up and she kept waiting for it.
We didn't get a picture of the buckets that dump but it was Heidi's favorite.  She was even brave enough to lay down and wait for it to dump straight on her.  It was fun to watch.  Heidi convinced Kaylee to go under the buckets at the end.
Daisy still waiting.....
Finally the water came!

This video isn't very interesting but there is a boy in the background who did a funny thing while we were there. He is white and wearing white swim shorts with frogs on them. He was handicapped and we spent some time running through the sprinklers with him. But later when Ben, Daisy and I were sitting around the boy came over to see Daisy. His mom said, "oh he just loves babies." Right after she said that he shoved Daisy down on the ground! I couldn't stop laughing because it was such perfect timing.

At the zoo

We took this video at the zoo. Daisy had been sick the three previous days so it was fun to see her back to her normal self again. I don't know why but I just think this video is so cute. daisy can always make me smile.

getting the cake

Sadly, I did not get to make her a special cake.  In fact, all my cakes failed today.  All she got was a piece of cake.   And since she was grouchy today she did not even look interested.

This was her as she started the first piece of cake.

Then this is after the second piece.  She is much happier.  Of course who wouldn't be after eating two piece of cake.

OK, these are pictures of Heidi and Kaylee on their first birthdays.  Who do you think Daisy looks most like??  You can vote to the side.

finishing the cake

I love when she starts licking the plate.

One year

To tell you the truth she has been horrible today.  Just grouchy and annoying.  We did get some cute pictures and I LOVE her new dress.  I just happen to see it and thought it would be perfect.

Happy father's day...sorry it stunk.

Poor Ben.  He has a headache and the kids are driving him crazy.  Today was not fun for him.  This morning I tried to take some pictures of the girls and it didn't go well.  Heidi insisted on sticking the flower in her face every stinking time!  Plus she has a river hickey that matches Ben's. (The river hickey is Ben's birthmark right in the middle of his forehead.)
Kaylee, as usual, would not smile.  She would barely even look at the camera.
Then we threw Daisy into the mix.  Didn't go well.
This last picture was when we decided to try going inside out of the heat.
This is the picture where I just decided to give up altogether.  And Ben went into the bedroom and closed the door.  Happy father's day.

Daisy's Birthday Present

Daisy's birthday is on sunday so we took time today to celebrate as a family.  We got her balloons, a new birthday dress and shoes (pictures coming tomorrow) and sadly, she will be eating a slice of Ben's father's day cake as her birthday cake.  I just didn't feel up to cooking even more than I already am.
For Daisy's birthday we renewed our zoo pass (her birthday money went towards it).  She loved it though!  I think her favorite part was just getting to ride in the wagon.
I like this picture of us.  The monkeys were really loud today and she liked the orangutang.
Daisy's favorite was (no surprise) the pandas.  Ben had to hold tight since she wouldn't sit still but was lunging towards Le Le.
I tried to get a good picture but my kids never cooperate.
This last picture was pretty good.

Look...

I wasn't meaning to get too deep or symbolic.  Here's what happened.  I would click on my blog and when it popped up I would think 'this background is starting to bug me'.  Then last night I saw Dava Hudson's blog and loved how nice and clean it looked so I decided to change.  After searching for what I liked I picked the very boring blog and then thought 'my mom is going to hate this'.  So I decided to make a post explaining why I picked it so I wouldn't have to explain it my mom.  I guess I got a little to introspective with my explanation but have no fear; there will still be plenty of Kaylee's back talking, more videos of Heidi scared out of her mind and still a plethora of Daisy pictures to make you smile.  After working on the blog last night I learned a lot more about how the blogs are designed and I am thinking about figuring out how to make my own blog background.  I think I can do it.  I am going to start by creating my own heading thing with pictures (the pictures were taken by Erica, my sister-in-law who is great at photography and getting a prize in the mail).  After I figure out the heading I am going to try to create a background.  We'll see how it goes.  And, just so you know, not only did my mom complain about the blog in the comments but she also complained to me over the phone.

I know my mom will hate this.

I know my mom is going to hate the way I changed my blog.  First, it will confuse her for about ten minutes because nothing will be in the right spot on her computer screen.  Then she will hate the colors because they are boring black and white.  She might even complain that the writing is a little bit more difficult to read.  However, I feel as if my blog is something that I use to reflect myself in a way.  When I look at blog backgrounds I always try to find one I like that looks like me.  When I chose the beach background it was fun, bright, happy colors.  It was new and I enjoyed it.  However it was also way too busy for me.  Lately I have felt the need to simplify my life.  Every time I got to my blog I would think it was fun but really I wasn't thrilled with it.  I would check other backgrounds but I always ran across the same problem...they were just too trendy, classy, or elaborate for me.  I tried one that was even titled "too darn cute" and it was just too darn cute for me.  It was all those popular colors of brown and salmon (or whatever color that is).  If I were to have pictures of my kids on that background they would never match because they are always dressed in bright or bold colors.  My niece Olive would have matched it perfect because she is always dressed 'too darn cute' and has already knows all the trendy styles.  Then I picked another one that was too classy looking.  My kids would never match that because they run around in character t-shirts.  And then I picked an elegant looking one but scrapped that right off because here I am sitting in my flannel pajamas that are 5 years old.  It just didn't fit.  They were all cute but just not me.  So this is it.  I am simple, clean, clutter-free, boring, going through a purple phase and still love my life.  If you read this post then I am quite impressed.  I would be surprised if anyone made it through this long evaluation of my life. You should win a prize.

Her first time

We are really putting this video on because Heidi wanted scotty to see her ride her bike. A lot of our friends have been putting up videos of their kids riding and doing a great job without help. Not so with Heidi. If we don't hold the seat she will fall.  Still, she wanted Scotty to see her on her bike.

walking#4

I took this video because she was so happy and talked the whole time. Before the video she was talking a TON of gibberish and it was fun to listen to. She stopped when the camera was rolling, hopefully I can get her talking again another time. She has recently added 'ow' to her vocabulary after watching her friend addie sticking people with a toothpick. (As I am typing this Daisy heard the video say 'bye' and she just said it to the camera.)

So Cute

Daisy has been as cute as always.  Lately she has found this basket and carried it around with her.  For some reason she insisted on the duck being inside the basket while she carried it.  It was just cute.
Is that not a cute picture?  Man, I love this baby.
Sadly but finally I have stopped nursing Daisy.  As you can tell the transition has been just fine.  She has milk in a bottle in the morning, at lunch and at night before bed.  She loves it and I love that Ben can snuggle with her.
Notice her hand up by her head?  She would play with her hair while she nursed and now she does it when she gets her bottle.  It's cute.

Here was my day...

9:00-Fixed my blog background and had tons of fun figuring it out.
11:00-Had a picnic this morning in our yard for lunch.
1:00-Changed my mom's blog background as a fun surprise.
3:00-Loaded up the girls in the wagon and walked to get our van from the shop.
4:00-$500 later we loaded in the van and went to the park
4:15-My mom calls and I have to talk her through making a post step by step
4:30-It starts raining at the park so we pack up and leave
4:56-I check my mom's blog to see her new post and leave a comment. The rain is coming harder.
4:57-I think "hey, I think I hear the tornado sirens.  WAIT A SEC!"
4:58-Ben and I get the girls head towards the bathroom.
4:59-My mom calls to ask how she can type the words above the picture in her posts and I am struggling to get the girls calmed down a little since the lights have gone out.
5:00-We get the flashlights and wait out the storm. It was over by 5:30

Nothing bad happened to us but this is the scene from our front door.  Ben and I kept wondering why we didn't know this storm was on the way.  We had no clue there was supposed to be such a storm today.  If we had I wouldn't have had my kids play at the park a 1/2 hour before it started!!  I do love the storms out here.  They come quick, are crazy to watch and then they leave.

Kaylee was really scared of the storm though.  I was surprised because she wanted be by her the rest of the night because the Tomado was going to get her.  She was cute though.  And our FHE on emergency training has paid off because the girls knew to get in the tub and grabbed their princess 72-hour kits.  We did give Kaylee the big flashlight and then she lost it at one point.  She had put it away in the closet and we had to search all over for it.  Now we know not to do that again.

Daisy's Pool

Since she loves the water so much I got a small pool just for her to splash in.  We also got her a cute hat that she laughs when you put on her and then laughs when she rips it off.
I just love pictures of naked babies.  Their little bodies are so cute and so perfect.

Look how happy she is.  I love having Daisy.  Although, now that she is walking she has discovered her independence and is forming a bit of an attitude.  I can tell now when she is mad because she will actually yell at Heidi and Kaylee when they make her mad.  And I think she even tried to hit Heidi the other day...looks like we are going to have another indpendent, loud, crabby, moody, bossy girl on our hands.
PS-I just want to say I made the banner at the top all by myself!  I went to try it and it looked complicated but I kept working on it and I figured it out!  I am really so proud of myself that I figured it out.

walking #3

I like this video because Daisy is so cute in her diaper. And I like that she tried to follow Ben and waved bye to him.

Why I post all the time

People tell me how I am so good at posting often and that they wish they were better about it.  My reply is I HAVE TO POST.  If I don't make a new post within a few days i get a phone call from my mom.  I got the call this morning and so here I am making a post.  I don't mind her calling but it is funny how much she checks my blog.  While we were in California she would come home for lunch, talk to me, check my blog and then ask why I hadn't made a new post.  I was standing right there yet she wanted to see new pictures.  That is why I post so often.  You can thank my mom for making me load up my pictures and put up whatever random photos I have.
Sometimes I will purposely not post just to see how long it will take for my mom to either call or leave a comment about making a new post.
How cute is this picture of Daisy.  She is so happy when she is in the tub.  It is now just standard protocol that Daisy will get in the tub with you if you are in.
My mom also just wants to see Daisy now.  That is why there are so many pictures of her.  My mom probably doesn't care about this tea party picture because it doesn't have Daisy.

But then I'm sure she likes this one better.
And even though these pictures aren't great she still just wants to see Daisy.  There you go, Mom.  I am currently uploading a video of Daisy walking.  I'm sure you can check at lunch time and it will be ready.

walking #2

I only have two cute videos so far. You will have to wait for number three.

walking #1

My mom requested three videos of Daisy walking. Here is the first of three. I thought it was pretty funny.

for those who are interested

Never a Dull Moment

Daisy is just fun.  She has learned how to make a new face.  It is my mom's face.  She shows her teeth, wrinkles her nose, and squints her eyes.  My mom has a picture of her making the same face when she was two or three.  While at Tong Fong Lows we tried to capture it with the camera.
This was the best we got but she wasn't looking at us.  All my kids have a struthers chin.

But this is the event of today.  Don't ask me how she got her arm stuck but she did.  And I couldn't get it off.  It was stuck on her arm so bad that I tried to get it off, couldn't and figured I should get a picture of this before I tried again.

How sad.  She makes this so fun.

Bath Baby

Daisy loves to be in the tub.  When she woke from her nap Kaylee was taking a bath and I thought about throwing Daisy but felt like it would be too much work.  Instead I got Daisy dressed and let her play in the bathroom.  I guess I shouldn't have been surprised when I heard Kaylee saying 'Whoa, Whoa!' followed by a splash and Daisy's cry.
Daisy had been leaning over so far that she fell in.  After Kaylee wiped the bubbles off Daisy's face she enjoyed the bath.  This turned out to be more work than if I had just put her in to begin with.
