Spring Break!!

Heidi is incredibly scared of skeletons. We have named all skeletons Mr. Bones to try and help her like them. Or, not even to like them but to not freak out when she sees them. Due to my activities calling I have a large box of Halloween decorations in our shed. Heidi will no longer play out there because of a pirate skull in the box. So today when Ben came home early to begin his spring break we discussed how the girls hate Mr. Bones. Ben told Heidi she was going to have to learn about it school so she should just get used to Mr Bones. We decided to bring in our skull and just have it around the house so they would get used to it and not flip whenever they see one. I didn't have the camera rolling when they ran screaming from the couch to hide in the kitchen. We ended up putting Mr. Bones back out in the shed. The good news is that Ben is home for the week!! YEA!!! We all deserve a week off after this last round of tests. I am glad to have my husband to myself for a while.

Can you name the movie??

My girls recreated a scene from one of their favorite movies.  Can you guess what it was?  I was surprised that we had even toys that would work for this and impressed that they came up with it.   First person to guess the movie gets a prize!!  Heidi will send you one of her masterpieces.

They are twins with princess shirts and matching hair styles.

Love this outfit

We have these heart overalls that are one of my favorite outfits.  Lucky my fat kid is able to wear the 12 month outfit early while it is still cold out.  And I apologize for those of you who don't like to see different outfits on my blog...I have to do this for my mom.
Also, I have heard the comment "I hope she gets cuter" made about Daisy.  And I ask you...is that even possible?  I don't think so.
If you look really close you can see her little tooth coming in.

OK, my sister-in-law and sister always have these cute headbands for their kids.  I have never found such cute ones without them being way over my $1 price range.  So I tried to make one with some leftover tool that I have (once again, I don't know how to spell that).  This was my attempt.
When I look at Daisy it is like I see a different person each time.  Sometimes she looks just like Ben.  Then she will look just like her grandpa, Mike.  But lately she has looked just like my mom.  There is something about her chin that just says, "Call me Grammy".
This fancy bow didn't quite match the overalls but I still liked it.

This morning Heidi put her writing skills to work.  We didn't even know she could figure out how to write a sentence.  Pretty good for her first attempt.  See if you can figure out what it says.

Daisy update

Daisy has figured out her first word. She says Uh Oh. This video isn't a good demonstration but it was the best I could get. Whenever she hears someone say it, she repeats it. If she drops her ball and it rolls away from her she says it. When she hears this video being played she looks up and says it. She is also learning mama. She only says mama when she is really sad and wants me to get her. It starts as mama but turns into mamaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!! She is getting her bottom teeth in. I can feel them, but just barely. She dances to music. She makes a grunting sound when she is mad that sounds like a cow. She is starting to thin down a bit. Someone said the other day that based on my blog Daisy is the apple of my eye...they were right! I have so much fun with her.

Sickly Sunday

Here are a few pictures from the past week. Daisy loves the tiger that Kaylee bought with her birthday money.

The girls wanted veils for their wedding dresses so we made them. Now they are ready to get married.  Heidi doesn't have anyone in particular in mind but Kaylee is planning on marrying Scotty, Prince Edward, Superman or Link Larkin.
We have spent all day at home since everyone in our family with blue eyes is sick (that means everyone but me!)  I am taking care of them all but I am about to lose it!!  Daisy is a diarrhea machine (and cranky) and the girls want to snuggle with me.  I don't mind snuggling except that I am stuck in one spot and they want to have their face right next to mine.  When they have their face right up to mine they sit there and breathe on me.  I can't stand it!

Kaylee and the Mysterious Ticking Noise

This is Kaylee a little over a year ago. Isn't she so small compared to now??

Her new bike

I love this video because it shows the relationship of Heidi and Kaylee. Heidi is recording this, being a little mom, trying to be responsible. And then there is Kaylee. Just being the crazy, fun girl she is. My favorite line is "That's not enough." I love my kids but there is just something about Kaylee that is so endearing. As frustrating as she can be she sure does make this earthly experience interesting. Love her.

Kaylee's Birthday!!!

Kaylee turned 3 today!  Sometimes I feel like she should be older than that.  For dinner tonight she wanted Chinese.  All she ate was broccoli from the broccoli beef.  She loves the broccoli.
Our new tradition is that the girls wake up to their presents in the morning and the breakfast of their choice.  Today we had to go to the doctor so it was a good thing she didn't ask for anything more than cereal.  We also get them flowers for their birthday.  I love that tradition.
Kaylee opened a bike horn and book but her favorite was....
The gum ball machine!  She loves it!  My favorite part of the picture above is Heidi's face.  How envious does she look?
She ate a ton of gum balls today.  She really wanted a blue gum ball and so she would chew one for a while, spit it out, and then go for another one.  She never did get a blue gum ball today.
She is so big now.  She looks really old now that her bangs are all grown out.
Her new bike!  At first she wouldn't even go near it.  Isn't that so annoying when you think your kids are going to LOVE what you have for them and then they don't.  Why do they always do it?

Kaylee's birthday party

This was last night after I frosted her cake. She sat there eating the rest of the frosting with a rubber spatula.  She is the biggest junk food eater.
Her getting ready to blow out the candle.  Dressed in her Cinderella dress.
When I asked Kaylee what she wanted for her birthday she wanted a cake, jelly beans and popcorn.  So that was what we served at the party.
Her cake was really lame.  The only part I liked was the strawberry whipped frosting I made.  It was my first time and it turned out great.  I think next time I will add food coloring because it just blended in with the white frosting.  It was good though.

crawling

You asked for proof and here it is. She is so funny. She loves the keyboard to the computer. The other night we brought the computer out to the front room to watch Lost on it (we rewatched all of season 5...I love that show!) But Daisy had learned to crawl so she was going after all the gadets. I always feel bad when she crawls over to them and then I just take it away. Sad. She worked so hard.

She did it!

These pictures have nothing to do with crawling but she is finally crawling.

Girls in PJs

How sad that Daisy is already wearing pajamas that Kaylee wore when we moved here!  And they are even a little snug on her.  She looked cute in them though.  Heidi wanted to match her even though they don't fit Heidi at all anymore.

Often times I think about how different my life would be if we hadn't decided to move back to Rexburg in 2005.  I think about the blessings that came out of that move.  Somethings have become such a part of my life that it seems like they were always there.  We learned lessons, we made GREAT friends, and then I learned about this cake.  The Deep Dark Chocolate Cake.  I owe Heidi Slade big time for introducing the idea of homemade cakes-not from a box.  Ben loves this cake.  Every time I make it he gets excited and gives me all these compliments about how great a wife I am.  It is fun to make this cake.  The girls get excited, too.  They have been drooling over it since last night.  Kaylee doesn't want to share it with our friends.
I have gotten better and better at making this.  Today I tried a whipped chocolate frosting along with the buttercream.  And then I decided to just pile the strawberries on top.  Yum.  We can't wait to eat it.  When I make this cake it takes me back to Rexburg and I also think how Heidi Slade change my whole perspective on dessert.  Don't you just want to have a big piece with a glass of milk? I will have to make it when I go home to Oroville for the Memorial Day Picnic.
