We had a wonderful trip to Sydney Australia to pick Tyler up from his mission. We had a good mix of visiting people Tyler loved and seeing sights around Sydney. We had several dinners with members and converts and randomly hooked up with several people from Dale's mission, even though it is on the other side of the continent.
This is Brother Bailey. He was ward mission leader who worked with Tyler. He has a tax business and a penchant for sports cars. These are some of his cars in his "shed". (Notice the Ferrari shoes). He was also a mission president in Rachel's mission and was so excited to talk to her about it!
The
first person we met was Jude Scot, who was staying at the Temple
Accomodation, with her husband, where we stayed. Both she and her
husband served in the Perth mission with Dale at the same time and they
spent 3 days reminiscing. It was a little miracle for us.
With President and Sister Howes at the Mission Home
Tyler taught this man. He is 89 and was baptized about 1 1/2 years ago after his wife died. The woman in the photo introduced the gospel to him and was converted while she was a Catholic Nun. This was one of our most special visits.
Bushwalking in the Blue Mountains near Sydney
The cicadas were so noisy with a shrill chirping sound it made your ears ring.
We went to this reserve to see the kangaroos. There were about 50 acres with maybe 100-150 kangaroos. They were asleep when we arrived but when we brought out the bread several came up to us.
They were mostly friendly but this one growled at Tyler when he didn't feed her fast enough.
This one gave me a hug!
Caves Beach. It was Rachel's goal to swim in the ocean but every time we went to the beach it was just a little too cool to get in the water. It rained a lot while we were there.
We rode a ferry over where the Opera House is. The day and the views were beautiful!
Sydney Harbour Bridge
We climbed out onto the center of the top level of the Sydney Harbour Bridge to where the flags are (see steps going up and down each side?)
We were able to attend a session at the Sydney Temple. Beautiful.
