Early morning sunrise

Took this photo on my way to Netball with Katie. Time was about 640am. Way too early for a Saturday.

Ok, I posted this from my phone.  All I have to figure out is how to rotate the photo clockwise.

Cheers

An Arty Party Afternoon

Ok, this is the weekend I look forward too for at least half a year. June long weekend,  the scrapbook and papercraft expo comes to Brisbane.
From about March (ok, my birthday to be precise) I start to stalk the website to see what classes are being offered.
This year well known Byron Bay artist Jane Davenport  was running a class. Soon as bookings went live I delegated the booking of my classes to hubby (I was working and couldn't get to a computer).
Sunday 9 June aas the day.  Here is what I completed.

All I have to figure out now, is how to rotate the photos, I finally have them in order.
I loved this class, and happy to have a completed product.  Now to work out how to add journal pages.
Step one, cover journal with serviettes, try not to fall in Love.  I DOD!
Step two, add stencil face, neck and explosive hair.  I can do faces if I have a stencil.

Step three, add gesso around areas that are not face, body or hair
Step Four, add skin and eyes.  Now this does not look good.  HElP!
Step 5, with a little help from Jane, she was saved...

Card making Time

Well this is a little of the beaten track for me.  I have decided to make some cards.  And the 6*6 paper packs you can get are just the best.  So needless to say over the past couple of weeks I have bought a few.  In a way I am hoping this will get my art mojo back in the groove as I have a couple of journal pages to do for my Artistic Evolution group.
Posted this to my friend Alz, and I still forgot the wing. This was supposed to be for Katie's coach, but I needed a card in a hurry and this was spare.  So I had to make a new and bigger one!
For Katie's netball coach.  Another one from a Kaiser paper collection
This is will be heading north to my friend Lee.  This is the Devonshire collection from Kaiser.  And yes, the flower is fussy cut!
Another card using the Devonshire Collection. The tag label is made using a Tim Holtz Die.
The first card I made.   Really happy with the result.  Love paper packs and die cuts.  This one was given to Claire's Netball Coach to say thank you for all her work during the season.

This will be for my neice, Emma.  All I have to do now is add the age.  This card is made from the Cupcake range from Kaiser.

That is all the cards for today.

Wow, it hasa been a while

I can't believe that I last posted something here in May!  Where has the time gone.  Seriously????  I guess between work, study, kids and family, something fell in the cracks at this was it.

Anway here is some quick updates my what I have created.

Steampunk Pages for my friend Valerie in MI.  Her book is all Steampunk

Some Tags for my friends Teri, Pat and Valerie.  These had to be done using on Tim stuff.

Trying out new cards.  This one is for Katie's Netball Coach.  All I have to do now is add the WING!

Really happy with all of these and hope to get back to creating soon.  I have four assignments sitting on my desk to complete.  I might need to have some down time for me very soon.

Native Wildlife

On my way to work this morning with the kids and had to turn around to allow Katie to get her "hideous" shoes.  Now these are New Balance black runners.  But, anyway, while she was inside changing her shoes I went up the street to turn around (we are in a cul-de-sac) and sitting there was this gorgeous Kangaroo.   Claire said there was a 'Joey' in the pouch, I wasn't so sure.

But I did wind down the window, utilised the camera on my phone and took this photo at around 6.30am.  And the Kangaroo did not move.  Which is good as they can cause massive damage to your car!

We really do live in a wonderful country and to have this wildlife at your doorstep is just brilliant.

Experimentation time

Well I can't believe this is my first post for 2012.  That is so wrong in quite a few ways.  But very soon there will be many posts as I have a lot of catching up to do.

Anyway this year I decided to start purchasing Mixed Media Kits from Blue Bazaar and as we have just had a long weekend in Queensland and I have no assignments due I decided to tidy up my craft room.  I now have a workable area and start on these pages.

I have done the first two pages from the February kit.   I am quite happy with the second one.  Turned out different to the sample given but I like it. Hopefully I will get another page done soon and have it ready to show.

More Tim Tags

Hi All,
Well it certainly has been a long time since my last post.  Whoops.

Anyway, I have been able to buy a few more of the Tim Holtz Die's for a swap I am in (refer to the previous post).

So I have created two more sets of tags.   The Dress Form Tags have gone to Lori, Lillian and Jen. And the Umbrella Man tags will be heading off to Inge in Belguim, Jacquie in FL and Alison in the UK.  So they are certainly getting around.   And with all the tags I have made one for me too.

I really have enjoyed doing these tags and in a way I would love to do more.

Time for Tags

I love our group of International Artists.  And so pleased that I have been able to meet almost all of them.  I think there are about 5 that I haven't.  But I need to win the lottery to get to England, Belguim and back to the USA. And I need to plan a trip to Gladstone to meet up with the other Australian Member.

This is a wonderful and exceptional group of ladies.  Love them all and so glad that I can call them all a friend.

The leader of the pack (whoops, group) Elena, comes up with these totally insane and outrageous ideas that she has seen somewhere.  Decided to email them and they just magically appear somewhere.  Elena, you are the best and Love YA!  So it's all good.

Anyway, Elena saw this idea for a fabric book (yeah great, I do have a machine!) and to make the tags we are only to use stuff by Tim Holtz. Not a bad idea, but not all of us have a mini Tim store at home.   Elena, being helpful and generous,  sent some of us die cuts from Tim's range, as not all of us had many or any of his dies.  Anyway, at the time I had two.  Tags and the mini gears.  Over the past three weeks, I havel slowly bought more, but mainly the movers and shapers.

Here are the tags that I have done so far.  I have made 5 and the are all virtually the same.  The only difference is the muse token at the top.  Four are heading off to either the USA or Australia.  I have kept the test tag.

I have loved this project.  Hopefully later this year I will be able to get mine all assembled.

Anyway here are my tags.  These three will be heading to Elena, Eileen and Marita.

Another Marie Page

Sometime back in 2010, I was crazy enough to sign up for a journal based on just Marie Antoinette.   At the time I wasn't sure I could do this.   But now after 18 months, I know that I should NOT have done this.  It has however gotten me out of my comfort zone.   I have tried new technique's, new products (to me anyway).   And after quite a few emails asking where are the pages, I finally completed these pages for Sue in Illinios.  As Sue is a retired French Madame (Teacher), I found this a little hard to do.  But after soaking off the wine label from my empty bottle and finding the Eifel Tower at a scrap store in Burleigh, I finally had some direction.

Here are my pages for Sue.  They are currently in transit to Sue and I hope they will be there soon.
