It's Official!

This weekend I went to meet Jesse's parents. I absolutely adore his parents, they are so sweet and kind. Their home is made out logs... there is a little picture on the wall that says, "A house is made of log and stone, a home is made of love alone." I like that.

Whilst there we went to Helzberg Diamonds and picked out an engagement ring. :) Amazing story: several months ago Jesse went with his "church" mom to get her ring sized. While he was waiting he looked at engagement rings and found one that he loved. He wanted to just buy it even though he didn't have "a lady friend" but he didn't. After Jesse asked me in North Carolina, he sent me a link to look at the ring and I absolutely loved everything about it. :) A couple days ago I went back to Helzberg's website and the ring was no longer available! I was disappointed but realized there would be other rings out there. So anyway, we went into Helzberg yesterday and looked at rings. I tried a few on and a couple were too small... we told the man what we were looking for...lo, and behold! he found the EXACT ring! I was afraid to try it on because my fingers are large, but it went on like it was made for my finger! So we got it! Jesse wanted to have his gun showing for the picture. ;) Yep, that's the man I'm going to marry!

love.

I really like this picture. I think it's sweet. :)

Woooweee that's a lot of sparkle!

We haven't set a date yet because I still don't know when I'll be at Montessori training... but as soon as I know, we will!

Snowed In!

This weekend my family was supposed to go to Cleveland for my niece's first birthday... but we got 30 inches of snow Friday/Saturday so we weren't able to go anywhere! Luckily, Jesse came down here Friday afternoon before the snow hit so I he was snowed-in with us! :) Jesse stayed at my grandparent's house who live about a 5 minute walk away. He came over around 7:30am and we hung out then decided to go shovel his truck out. We dressed in the warmest clothes we could -- hunting orange -- and headed over to Nan's. It was quite an ordeal! It took us a half an hour to shovel it out and an extra 20 minutes to get it out of the driveway - it got stuck! The neighbors helped push and shovel us out.
A view of our driveway! Sooooo much snow!!!!I had a lovely weekend with Jesse here. We just hung out all weekend, nothing fancy. Bekah put highlights in my hair. Jesse took a nap, we watched movies, drank hot chocolate.... a nice relaxing weekend.

I said "Yes!"

It's true, Jesse proposed this afternoon while we were driving through North Carolina. :) We flew down to Florida Saturday evening with my dad to my great-aunt and uncle's place to pick up some cars. We drove home today, Sunday. Jesse and I drove back a Buick Park Ave. and Dad drove back a truck.

While Jesse took a turn driving, we started talking about going to visit his parents over Valentine's day weekend and then he said, "While we're there.....we could.....go to the mall..... and shop for a ring....that you could wear." haha! he said it just like that too. I played with him a little bit, asking him why and whatnot. But then we saw the exit for a rest stop but we were going too fast to make the car parking so we went to the truck parking instead. :-) Then we were about to get out and he closed his door and said very seriously, "I have something I want to ask you, will you marry me?" I said, "Yes!"

We're planning for an August wedding in the Washington, D.C. temple. :) I am so happy!

All Improvviso Amore

Okay, okay... here it is! :) I went out with Jesse on Saturday night and had a fantastic time! We watched my favorite movie, "Everything You Want." Then went to dinner at Outback. There was an hour and half wait so we decided to walk around some stores - we went to Kohls and Target - neither one of us bought anything. We went back to Outback (haha) and both ordered steak cooked the same way, medium well. ;) So delicious. We shared a delicious coco-berry smoothie minus the berries. Our waitress didn't even know what it was. Lame. During dinner we talked about PSU campus and how I've never walked around to any of the buildings - so we took a walking tour of campus all the while interlocking arms like the NYC trip. :) We went back to his apartment and watched the Rundown since neither one of us had seen it. It was pretty good. I should mention that I had my hand readily available during the first movie and the second, and he took it during the second! :) We held hands and cuddled. And I'm not one to kiss and tell but.... ;)

The next day at church we sat together and of course held hands. :) After church he asked if I wanted to go over, I said of course and I stayed there till around 7pm. He made some delicious Korean food (he served his mission in Pusan, South Korea.) I think he was impressed with my awesome chopstick skills. :) Thanks to the many Asian roommates I've had over the years. So we watched another movie, and then I was falling asleep so we took a nap - so lovely. Then I had to come home.

Today was a horrible day at work... tons of stress with new students and training a new TSS... anyway. So after work I got in bed to take a nap but then texted Jesse about wanting some chocolate that we both won (tie) from our Tacky Sweater contest at the Branch Christmas party. He told me to go up there and get some. I was just about to get ready and go and he said he would come down here instead, take me out to dinner and then we'd go grocery shopping. Oh, I guess I should mention for those of you who don't know... Jesse goes to PSU - an hour away from where I live. :( But anyway, he came down, got somewhat lost on his way here so I went out and found him. :D He met my mom - she was the only one home. Then we went out to Fridays and then to WalMart. Came home, he met my sisters (minus Meghan). (Andrew was in bed when we got back). We just sat and talked for a really long time. It was so nice. Awwww...

So yeah. That's my story. :D I'm happy. Bekah said to me after he left, "It's so good to hear you giggling again!" Indeed it is good to giggle again. Good night everyone!

Saint Lucia Day

I've started a new family tradition!! Celebrating Saint Lucia day. We kind of did it backwards though.... the St. Lucia character and posse are supposed to be up at dawn and go through the house with candles and wake everyone up for a breakfast of Luciakatter. We waited until it was dark then we walked through the house with candles and got everyone and then ate the Luciakatter (which is delicious by the way).

Here's a brief history (if you want more details, ask me... there's lots more!):
St. Lucia was an Italian maiden who suffered a martyr's death under the Roman Emperor Diocletian in Syracuse, Sicily around 300 AD. In one of the stories associated with her, she was working to help Christians hiding in the catacombs, and in order to bring with her as many supplies as possible, she needed to have both hands free. She solved this problem by attaching candles to a wreath on her head. There are many legends about her and in each one Lucia stands as a symbol of light and hope to all mankind. Santa Lucia's coming begins the feasting, merriment, singing and the spirit of friendliness and goodwill that lasts all through the holidays.
