This is right after we got in the room and dressed in his gown. You can see how nervous the poor kid is! :( He was a little trooper all day though! Thankfully they came in with versed about 45 minutes before they took him back to surgery.
This is Joey after the versed started working. He was much more relaxed and he was HILARIOUS. I did get a little video of him but I didn't take it at teh right time! He was getting sleepy so we laid down the bed and turned down the lights. Then he started reaching slowly into the air over and over again. I asked him what he was reaching for and he said the 'fuzzies'. I said 'what fuzzies?' and he, in his slurred speech, said 'there's little teeny tiny fuzzies. Like bb's, but TINY bb's. And they're pink. PINK!!' ha ha - he had us laughing quite a bit. They finally took Joey back at about 9. Kris and I ran down to the cafeteria to get breakfast and came back up by 9:30. The screen on the wall said that the surgery had started at 9:27. We started eating and our buzzer went off at about 9:45 to tell us Joey was out of surgery already! (His surgery wasn't even scheduled til 10 - it was nice to have a hospital running ahead of schedule!) They took us back into a patient consult room and the surgeon came in and told us Joey did great in surgery and he was headed to recovery, we would get to see him soon. The doc did say that his tonsils were just HUGE and it's a good thing that we had them removed because they would have caused alot of problems as time went on.
This is my baby after. They finally called us back to see him and I could hear him crying as I went down the hall. I was sad they woke him up before we got there, but it wasn't long before. He was very sad when I got there - and not real 'with' it. He was obviously in pain. They had given him a purple popcicle that he was happy to eat, but he was crying at the same time. After he finished his popcicle they gave him another dose of morphine and he went back to sleep. I was happy to see him sleeping comfortably - it broke my heart to see him SO uncomfortable when they first woke him up.Since, he has been doing as good as can be expected. He's been tired and uncomfortable, but he's been a trooper. He does NOT like the tylenol w/ codiene they gave him - it tastes nasty. So he's mainly just been on regular tylenol, which seems to at least take the edge off the pain. He hasn't been sleeping real great at all. I hope hope hope he getts feeling better soon! I just feel so bad for the poor kid! I hate seeing my kiddos in pain.

Joey asked for one thing consistently this year - a 'Cyclaws' RC car. He was SO excited to find it under the tree ready to go on Christmas!
