Being Californians.

Here are a few things that have kept us busy since moving to Bakersfield!

We went to dinner as brides maids for Maria! Maria was my roommate while Daniel and I were dating. Daniel was living with his brother Jeff. After Daniel and I got married and moved away, Maria and Jeff started dating! And now they are married. Who knew that would have happened! Anyway, what kind of brides maids would we be if we didn't push Maria into a fountain after dinner? She loved it.

Jeff and Maria got married!!!!  We are so happy and excited for them!! We are so happy Maria will be part of the fam now!

Cute Mr. and Mrs.!

Daniel and I had our 1 year anniversary!!!! We made it! We aren't newly weds anymore!! We had kept the top of our cake frozen for this past year and ate some to celebrate. It was still delicious!!

We made brownies and got a double yoke egg. I thought this was significant enough to make it onto the blog.  It's right up there with weddings, anniversaries, and jobs.

I got a job at an elementary school!!!!! I'm a title 1 instructional aide. I help k-2 kids with reading difficulties. I love it! The kids are great and it is a very rewarding job!!

I started quilting! Kind of.. haha  I'm trying to find some meaningful hobbies to fill time.

Anyway, being in Bakersfield has been great thus far. We are currently looking for houses.. We've made a few offers but none have worked out. It's a long process and can get discouraging sometimes but we'll find the house we are supposed to in the end! Stay tuned for updates in that regard!

(Kelsey Bleyl... is that enough blogging for you? haha)

The Big Move

Well, we moved. We were sad. But happy at the same time. It was a very bitter sweet thing!
We LOVED Arizona! We found some great friends that we'll keep forever. But we had to think about the future! So we decided that Daniel would take a job here in Bakersfield, California! Anyway, here are some pictures documenting the move!

Our beloved first place together! We loved that little apartment... maybe not the neighbors all the time.

All packed up and ready to go..

Our tiny kitchen that I will not miss....and no, this picture isn't deceiving. That's it. The whole kitchen.

 Last picture in our place.

I hate this picture of me.. but had to include it.. we had been packing and moving in 100 degree heat.. and we may have shed a few tears when we left the apartment.. anyway, not looking my best.

Then, we pulled into Bakersfield!!  We were sad to leave but we are so excited for our next adventure here in Bakersfield!

As for now we are living with Daniel's parents and are looking for a house!

Much awaited blog update...

Due to some major encouragement, here is a much needed blog update!  A few things have happened in the last few months....
My parents came home from their mission!

After they spoke we had friends, family, and missionaries over for treats. It was nice to see how many people came to support my parents!

 So much food!!

 Hugs all around!

While we were in Utah we went to the Hill Air force museum with a bunch of the nieces and nephews. Those boys love their airplanes!

If you look really closely, little Will is by the wheel of this plane! Will is a tiny kid but that shows how huge the plane is!

It was a hot day! haha

One night Daniel and I organized a camp out in the back yard with the nieces and nephews! Complete with s'mores!

It got a little hot so a few of the boy's shirts came off.

We watched a movie, told stories, and then went to bed! It was a fun night!

One of the days we were in Utah we went down to Salt Lake to see the new City Creek mall. It is beautiful!!

We also went swimming with the kiddos!
I love this picture of cousins having fun!!

 Cute little Colin!

We also went to Farmington Festival Days! I have some great memories growing up and going to the festival. We watched the parade, walked around the booths, and got some Italian ice.

 Cute husband!

Waiting for the fireworks, watching the beautiful Farmington sunset!

Aww, Rose likes Daniel!  (she is actually deathly afraid of him for some reason. Always has been, since she was a little baby. She had just woken up and I don't think she even realized that Daniel was holding her... haha)

Messy Eli! Love this kid! Wish we lived closer so I could see him and everyone else  more!!

Driving back through the desert to Arizona before the big move!

We had such a good time in Utah! It was so fun to spend time with my mom and dad and the rest of my family! We hope to be back soon!!

America, The Beautiful!

We started out the Fourth of July with a little patriotic breakfast!

He's so great at flipping pancakes!

That night we went to the Diamond Backs game with our friends the Skinners. It was a lot of fun even though the diamond backs lost.

 We Love America!

 Crazy kid.

 Fireworks show after the game!

Some of the fireworks show. This reminded me so much of sandlot. And if you can hear some one else singing along... that's Daniel.

I'm so grateful to live in a free country!
