Well, two more work days.
Susan reports the packing by the Relief Society ladies went well and quickly. But not as quickly as the furniture loading. About a dozen brethren showed up and within about 20 minutes all the furniture was sitting just outside the POD waiting to be loaded. Proves the saying many hands make light work. Four of them stayed and with Justin and me, we got the POD loaded in little over an hour. I was amazed and humbled at all the men that were willing to give up a holiday morning to help me. I extend an immense thank you to all of them.
The POD was pickup yesterday and is safely in the warehouse now (I assume). The house looks very empty. Mary completed the cleaning last night; she is wonderful and the place sparkles. Today the carpet cleaners come. The MoHo is in the driveway and waiting for the final load out. I hope there is room for the stuff we think we’ll need. I do expect to jettison some stuff we find we don’t really need when we get to Tucson.
Last night we had a wonderful time with Betty and Ron (my sister and her husband) and Justin having pizza at Sorelli’s before they continued their trip. Sorelli has the best pizza. We won’t be having any more for a while. Sure going to miss it.
The stress is going down. It is really happening.
I’ve arranged to turn in my security badge, building pass, cell phone and various other stuff, that will happen on Friday, my last day of work. No more paid holidays, but then every day is a paid day off now, though at a much-reduced rate. I think I am going to love it.

Closer and Closer It Creeps!
Final packing up day is nearly here! Just today and tomorrow to finish getting things sorted out and packed or ready to pack. Many thanks to the Ladies of the Carkeek Park Relief Society who will be helping with that final pack out. Good-bye Kitchen!
I am sure Jason and Lauren are "inheriting" far more of our unpackables than they ever dreamed. Poor kids! And Justin has not been forgotten...he's got a double stack of "important stuff" to take home and try to squeeze into HIS condo.
Saturday Justin and Brett will be helping with disassembly of furniture and loading of boxes into the POD. Monday the Men will come and help load the furniture and the rest of the boxes.
Tomorrow, Clark is coming with Derek's big truck to take away a whole roomful of stuff for his and Maren's garage sale. I don't know where they will store all that stuff until garage sale, but once they take custody, not my problem! :-)
There is still much to do, but I begin to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Unless that's the train....

Getting near the wire
17 DAYS to retirement, getting close.
With Jason and Lauren needing to be out of their house by the 31st we had to move up our exodus from the house by more than a week. That put a lot more pressure on us. Mostly on Susan, as I have to go to “work” every day. Everything needs to be done by the 26th as that is when the POD is getting packed. I hope it all fits. If not I don’t know what we’ll do. We’ll figure something out if we need to. We do have a category of “store if there’s room” else it goes to DI. I am so grateful to Ward members that will help us with the packing and heavy lifting.
This Saturday we’ll clear out our storage locker. Justin is going to help us with that. I really appreciate my boys and the help they have been in this endeavor.
We were getting a pile of stuff we intended to go in the MoHo and it was getting pretty big. It was starting to worry me that it would not all fit. So last Saturday we brought the MoHo to the house and loaded it. Yes, it did fit, with a little room left over. We still have the food and clothes to go in, but overall I think things will be ok. I figure next winter after about 5 months of travelling we’ll know what we did and didn’t need. That will make next year’s trip even better.
We are so looking forward to this odyssey. However, right now it is frazzling and more than a little stressful.
