More Random

Logan has moved on from Legos to paper building. He has made entire cities and sports arenas out of paper. A picture of the BYU football stadium is coming soon.
Jr. Jazz. So fun to watch kids play basketball at this age! Kids shoot it in the wrong basket, triple dribble, the girls wear tutus and pink shoes, they can dribble out of bounds, and travel at least 5 steps before the ref will instruct them to dribble. Then out of no where they amaze you with 3 pointers, lay-ups, amazing assists, blocked shots, and lots of smiles. Logan has the Osgu genes. He was the assist and defensive specialist. His coach said, he was so impressed with his assists. I was a proud mama. He ended up with 12 points in his last game and really improved.
General Relief Society Meeting. We got to go with Mary and her sister and mom as well. We sat about the 12th row and got to hear the prophet speak on Charity. It was an amazing night.

Random

We went to the BYU girls volleyball game. I WAS IN HEAVEN! First- V-ball is my favorite sport. Second-my kids loved watching it! YEAH! They wanted to stay the entire 5 games. Logan wouldn't let us leave until the last point. We pretty much got Cosmo to ourselves because the venue is small and very few children attend. We got to chill with Cosmo at least 3-4 times. Hugs, high-fives, the works!
The kids wanted to dress up in their costumes from last year to play some football????
Logan's drum teacher composing a song together. They have come up with some good stuff.
Logan giving his favorite smile.
There is a McDonald's right by Gavin's Pre-school. Every once in awhile when we are early, we will have a special breakfast together.

Fall Soccer

Logan's Soccer Team. They lost their first two games by a lot. Then ended up winning the rest. They practiced once a week and really improved! Gavin played with the coaches daughter Holly every game. She always brought treats. They became best buds.
Logan became the goalie. He loved diving and stopping the ball. We were grateful for Brandon who played on a league team and shot a good 5-6 goals each game. :)

Gavin in smart start soccer. We signed up with Garrett and had a great time. It was parent participation so I got to be Gavin's partner each week. I was very impressed with the teachers. I knew nothing about soccer and felt like I came out with some skills of my own. :)
The last day they got to play a "real game". Gavin scored TWO goals. He was so happy. It was fun to actually do an organized sport for him. He is carted around to all of Logan's stuff, I could tell he loved having something of his own.

Bosie Trip

We took a super fun weekend trip to Bosie in September to visit Rich and Gwen's family. It was so great to finally see their home and hang out. We did a lot of chatting and the kids did a lot of playing. My kind of vacation!! We chilled most of the weekend and then headed to "the Bosie Beach" on Saturday. Logan and Livi had a great time together.
"Uncle Rich" with Gavin and Trenton. My boys love their Uncle Rich. He is also one of my favorite people. Wise, loving, a great listener, and super smart. Did I say smart? I loved watching him in his family setting as a father. He truly loves Gwen and the kids and it is clear they are the most important thing to him. We got to chat about the housing market in depth which was heaven for both of us. :)
Gwen, Lola, and Henry. It was so nice to spend time with Gwen as well. Love her! She is such a great mom. I observed so many things that I was able to take home and implement in my own home. She seeks to understand people, also a good listener, and has a ton of courage to take on four little kids!!!! She is a great friend and I am so glad that she and Rich found each other.
Chillin at the Bosie Beach. They took out the Sevylor and paddled around. They were at home.
On the way to Bosie, we stopped for gas because we were running low. The gas station was out of power and the gas pumps were not working. The next gas station was 22 miles away. We were at about 25 miles left on our gas tank. I didn't want to back track 18 miles so we went for it at 55 miles an hour to conserve gas and Logan said a prayer. We made it with 8 miles to spare. We actually got down to 5 and I got nervous, somehow the gas meter actually started to click back up, and we ended up at 8. I felt a huge sense of relief driving into that gas station!

More Fall Fun

Rock Canyon Family Skate Night. They had a giant bubble machine and the kids went wild. Amazing what some dish soap and a blower can create!!!

Liberty Land Monday. We got the 7 peaks/Trafalga passes along with all of Utah County for $39.00 this year. We have been meeting up with Lindsay every Monday with just the little kids and we are loving it. There are no lines during the day. The kids can go on whatever they want, and LJ and I can catch up on life.
On the way down from a walk in Rock Canyon. Utah is growing on me. :)

Fall 2010

I decided to skip summer and try to catch up with Fall 2010. This is Gavin with cousin Sarah. Gavin has loved pink and princesses for a long time now. He was so excited to dress up and dance around. It was a little funny and frightening all at the same time.
This was our last sleep out on the tramp before school started. The boys thought it was the coolest thing EVER!!! This is my idea of camping so I think we have a winner. Other than the neighbors sprinklers hitting me from 2:00-3:00a.m. it was a success!!!!
First day of pre-school. My rockstar so excited about his "guitar" shirt. He ran in and hugged his teachers. It was great. Gavin went from crying and separation anxiety of last year to fun, happy, and excited this year. It made for one happy mom.
Logan has Mrs. Cottam for second grade. She is a veteran teacher. He was excited to wear his, "Warning too fast for you" shirt.
BYU football game with the boys. Logan was in heaven and Gavin enjoyed the candy. After 2-3 minutes, Gavin said, "Ok mom can we go now?" $15.00 later in candy and drinks we made it through the first half. :) I'm thinking this is going to be really fun in a year or two.

It's been too long

It has been way too long since I have blogged. So many pictures and memories to record. It has been a year next week since we moved to Utah and our life changed forever. The first six months I think I was in a sort of coma trying to deal with all of the changes and heart ache. The last 6 months I feel like I have been on a treadmill running and trying to keep up with a new career, single motherhood, and developing new relationships. Conference yesterday reminded me to slow down and invite simplicity into my life. I guess once I slow down, I realize my heart still hurts and deep down I still have a lot of grief and sadness for the loss. This year has been a year of growth, faith, trust, love, and a lot of tears. :) I am so grateful for my friends and family who have been there every step of the way whether in person or through prayer. I love you guys!

Here are a few pics from our Suze Orman Show. I wrote a thank you note to her and they ended up featuring us on the show. Logan was so excited to "be popular and famous" I didn't have the heart to tell him that his 7 year old friends probably didn't watch the "Suze Orman Show" on CNBC. So he now loves bieng famous.

Everyday Stuff

More Legos. April was officially Lego month. I don't know what happened but Logan got his passion for Legos back. This is the BYU football stadium. He later added the Press Box and it became huge.

Discovery Park in PG. Reminds me of Cottonwood Creek Park in Encinitas. We enjoyed a wonderful and kind of funny day there. It was such a hot day. Lisa sent a huge bag of popsicles and ice. We went through those fast. The kids were so thirsty, and I found myself out of bottled water in the car and the drinking fountain was broken. So we resorted to drinking the melted ice out of the ziploc bag. I will never forget rationing the ice water between four kids. After 30 minutes of that, I couldn't take it anymore. I piled the four kids in the car and drove to Smith's to buy 2 cases of water. We ended up spending the whole afternoon and going through at least 8 bottles. :)
These guys are the best buddies and I am so glad they have each other. They have their moments like any brothers but I am always amazed at the love and concern they show for each other.

Byu Spring Scrimmage

Took the boys to the BYU football drills and spring scrimmage. I have a great video of the boys going through the tires and then knocking down the dummy. They were in heaven as the BYU football players cheered them on. I have yet to use You Tube so that will have to wait a few weeks.
The lines were long so Gavin found a friend to play catch while we waited. Whether it is bowling, football, or golf, he has some sweet leg moves.
Grandpa came with us. It was so fun to hang out with him. We did learn that it pays to come about 1.5 hours late because there is a lot of down time until they actually begin. :)

Spring Skiing

Lisa and I took Molly and Logan skiing in April. It was so much more enjoyable than my last attempt with Patricia. I couldn't stop taking pictures of the beautiful day.
Lisa and Molly
Logan was so funny. After a few runs, he was done with the whole snow plowing idea. He had a new idea. The straight down the hill idea. He loves a thrill and some speed. So much so that the lift operator got to know us well and was surprised how fast we could get down Sunnyside. I could barely keep up. Let's just say, I will be looking into helmets for next ski season.
We went up the Cecret lift as well. It had been over 20 years since I had been down Cecret. It brought back memories of skiing as a kid. It is fun to make those memories with Logan.

Conference and Legos

We had a great conference weekend. Mom, Dad, Rich, Gwen, Livi, Lisa, and I got to attend Saturday together and feel the wonderful spirit in the Conference Center. Then we got to meet up for dinner at the Marriott with Sam, Molly, Garrett, Hansen, Russ, Wes, and Ben for dinner before priesthood. This has quickly become one of my favorite family traditions. We will for sure continue!!!
Sunday morning we spent with Rich's family. Livi is into Legos as much as Logan. They built an amazing ship together as they listened to the talks.
Some pretty amazing kids!

Easter

We had a fabulous Easter. These are the boys Easter Baskets. Rich came down for the Jason Hoyt Memorial Scholarship presentation. So we got to have family, conference, and good food all weekend.
This is our first Easter Egg Hunt at Lisa's church with Aaron and Rich's friends from College. It was amazing to see them all married with tons of kids. We filled the whole cultural hall.
Logan searching for the "Golden Egg". He was determined to find it.
Hanging out with everyone and enjoying the treats.
Gavin kept wandering off into the chapel and turning on the microphone to say the prayer. I of course was outside frantically searching for him when I landed on him in the middle of the prayer.

Singles Events and more

So I wanted to give Patricia and opportunity to go to some LDS single's events while she was here. After two in one week, I have decided to take some extended time off from these. :) In this photo, we had just finished watching a girl in her 40's jump into the middle of the "dance circle" to do the splits. We had to look away as her jeans didn't cover everything if you know what I mean. She just happened to come and stand by me after her show and I admit I was in a bit of shock as I said, "Wow how did you do that?" She told me, "It's easy. You could do it too. Watch this!" She lifted her leg over her head. Lost her balance. The guy behind her was in a wheel chair. He gave me that look of...HELP ME!!!! I lunged over. Luckily, she caught her balance and disaster was avoided.
This is Erik. Patricia met him at the event. He took her out on a date the next night and they had a great time. We played Apples to Apples at the singles event. Yes if you ever think you are having a bad day. Just think, you could be playing board games at the church mid-lds-singles event on the weekend.
Our first event was lunch at Macaroni Grill. The first half an hour was rough but it got better by the end. The best part of the lunch was when a cute, blond, tall guy walked in and a girl sitting at the opposite table on the other end, jumped up, and ran about 20 seats to sit by him. There was no chair, there was no space. She grabbed a chair and made space. She was clear on her intentions and was going to get that seat. I am not exaggerating and if you don't beleive me, Patricia will reenact it for you.
PF Changs with Terra. We had a great meal and a great time chatting in English and Portuguese.
Thanksgiving Point. They had free fudge tastes testers. Snickers Fudge...YUM!
