Canada for Haiti on a Friday Evening.

World Vision's Canada for Haiti with Scotiabank - Telethon Orientation

I feel like blogging today. I always thought that I would have ended this blog when I left University, but I didn't. Today was quite the interesting day. Since leaving University, I got a job with a Canadian bank in late September, by God's grace. I'm entering my 4th month with them now.

An interesting opportunity arose on Wednesday, to volunteer for Canada for Haiti with World Vision, to collect donations. I participated as a volunteer after my 8 hour workday, and volunteered an extra 2 hours and 30 mins. It was meaningful to know that I was helping Haiti by volunteering in a telethon! =)

While I was sitting there taking calls and donations, I was touched to how generous people were, and how people rose to the occasion to help those in need. In fact, the call to volunteer only asked for 250 individuals to volunteer but 500 showed up! God is an amazing God who loves us so much. He created in us, the ability to care and to love and to help those in need. I only volunteered for 2 hours and 30 mins, but that little part from me, and with a lot other people facilitating and contributing in different ways, I learned that through the telethon that I participated in, $9.5 million was donated by Canadians tonight, and the Canadian government is matching that amount to bring it to a combine total of $19 million raised for Haiti.

This was also my 2nd World Vision Volunteer experience. I've worked with World Vision Malaysia doing public relation work for their first ever English 30 hour famine event. And now, with World Vision Canada in a Telethon. Whatever it is, continue to pray for the people in Haiti. You can make donations at www.canadaforhaiti.com

Alison & I at the Green Grotto Tea Room

The evening ended with Hendry, Jane & Claus picking me up at work, and having a chill session at the Green Grotto Tea Room in Markham where I bumped into Alison. Its funny, I think the last time there was a picture of us, we were still students and now, we made the transition from the student life to the working life.

Oh what a day! Tomorrow is another!

Today

Today i made a sale in French! Haha, i really never imagined that I would be working in a french capacity. God's grace again! =)

After work, i played a game of indoor soccer with the majority of my teammates being from East Toronto Chinese Baptist Church. I'm filling in the boots of one guy who has been posted to work out of town.

We lost last week, but we won a game today and it felt good to win, 3-1.

What else can i say? Haha, i was browsing the must have christmas gifts of all time
http://lifestyle.ca.msn.com/holiday-guide/kids/hearst-gallery.aspx?cp-documentid=22632749&page=15

and i came across this guy, which my buddy andrew loh had when we were 12. and boy did we think that it was the coolest thing ever.

1997, wow. God is good!

www.twitter.com/jameswangmusic

God has been very good to me. I'm really thankful for my family, my loved one , my friends and my job. Even the shift that comes
with the job. God has blessed me so much and I praise Him for His blessings and providence.

Funny thing I realize about life constrained in a 24 hr clock

1/3 Sleep
1/3 Work
1/3 Leisure Time

Three 8 hour sessions each :)

It's raining outside now. I love the sound of rain and I'm going to bed.

Never Say Never

Well, here's a video that I made just recently! Please rate and comment on YouTube! Story behind this video? I was listening to this song a lot on my iPod and well, one day I saw Kina Grannis' cover, and I felt like doing a cover myself.

My YouTube Channel: www.youtube.com/jameswangmusic

Haven't blogged in a bit! Lots have changed since my last post! I'm now a working man and no longer a student at University. I miss my student life but at the same time, i'm enjoying the responsibilities of a working man!

Really thankful to God for His grace! Otherwise, I wouldn't know how I could have got the job I have right now! I'll try to blog more which has been quite hard given that I use Twitter a lot. But i'll try nevertheless. Thanks for coming to visit!

210 Hazel St, Katie Tuttle's Birthday Party - Saturday, April 18th.

Katie Tuttle - Four years of Friendship

In the last 2 years, we have this annual Katie Tuttle birthday party and it was always at the end of my exams! Its a good time for reunion to see all my friends. Except, that we all knew that this would be the last Tuttle birthday while in university! She's got a job with the Canadian government now. Congrats Katie!
This is Christine NGO.
She's french and goes to ESC Rennes in France. Doing her masters here at Laurier. She's now moved on to do an internship in Shanghai China. What's impresive is this girl is mandarin educated in France, and she also speaks Cantonese, English and French. Christine and her housemate.

My First Major League Baseball Game, The Toronto BlueJays vs Oakland Athletic - Sunday, April 19 Blue Jays

Rogers Centre and CN Tower in the background. Picture taken while on Greyhound

It was time to watch the legendary Toronto BlueJays in action. I've heard so mucha bout them, it was time to see them in live action. Richard wanted to go but on Sunday morning, he changed his mind and I persuaded him to come and watch! An iniative by a true fan, Steven TSE, and plus it was a Free Bubble Head give away day to first 1,000 people to enter the stadium, we went to catch some of the action.

another shot of the CN TOWER
Richard and I took some shots. Had some hot dogs just outside the stadium for lunch.

Inside the SkyDome. They closed the Stadium as it was a windy and chilly afternoon.
The Game of Baseball. Something that is definitely not popular in South East Asia.

To be honest, it was one of the most boring games I've seen in my life even though the Blue Jays won. I was happy we won though =) And as they won the game, i got a free slice of pizza in exchange for my ticket stub.

We missed out on getting the Lyle Overbay bubbleheads because Vince had asked us to wait for him and Steven TSE to arrive. Too bad for us. Richard and Vince did manage to find some after the game.
To my right, I sat with Elaine, Micheal Lau, Vicky and Henrick
To my left, i sat with Richard. Dan, TSE and Vince arrived really late and they sat in another place.
A last shot of the Skydome.
striking a pose. I helped Richard take some shots with the SkyDome too.

And that was our adventure. I spent about $15 on the bust ticket from Waterloo to Toronto and I believe that it was about $11 for the baseball tickets. Steven TSE drove us back to Waterloo.

Praying before eating. We put money together to treat Alison to some Twice the Deal Pizza.
I don't what this shot is all about. Vinson with a stick, and it was Carol Tang who took this picture by the way. lol =)
See the pizza =)
Chill-axing with apartment # 17 housemates, the djembe, Dan and Allie.
Leaving for Marble Slab to end the night. I decided to suit up for the occasion. I don't know why. lol. Missing a dress shirt and a tie though.
My first Marble Slab Experience. They actually mix their fresh ice cream with a topping of your choice on a cold slab of marble. That explains their name.
Their set-up!
This baby here, chocolate ice-cream mixed with cookie dough. Yummylicious. $2.50 (with coupon) normally about $5. But my cone was special, so i think there was an extra dollar added to it.

and that was Allie's last night in the loo.

Final Exchange Student Party: Friday Evening, Tony's house - Apr 24
Bianca from Austria and I. She's from Innsbruck
Miguel from Spain. I call him Miguel Nadal as he is an excellent defender when it comes to soccer.
The Canadian and exchange students from Australia and Sweden.
Verena, also from Austria. Bianca's housemate.
My friend and mentee. I mentored Aurélien from Lyon, France. We spoke a lot in English though as he had a desire to improve his English. A good guy.
Participating in my very first flip cup Tournament with my two other teammates. The girl on the far right is from Ottawa and she was bilingual! It was fun, we did win a couple of rounds.
With Tony from France, the host. He lived at Marshall Street.

Thus my last exchange student party in Waterloo. My last moment as a mentor and also an International Student.
