Not sure exactly what type of crustacean this is, I just know that they are bigger than what we would call bugs at home. Regardless of what they are called, they are exceptionally tasty

A decent sunset during the wet season






















There was a break in the clouds last night on the way home from work which allowed this golden light to hang around for a few minutes. It probably lasted all of 10 minutes

The street becomes a river






















Another pic from the flooding last Friday night. Around our area the waters reached 1 meter at its highest point. Reports around town suggested that waters got close to 1.5 meters in other areas. Not a particularly fun night for traveling

Louis Pasteur in metal






















While at a conference yesterday at the Pasteur Institute HCMC, I came across this metal tribute to the man whose name is given to the research centre network of Pasteur Institutes. Known to sport a beard for most of his adult life, I searched the internet looking for pictures that the artist might have used for inspiration. The one below is the closest I could find, mostly for the deep line at 30 degrees from the nose. Am not sure why the artist was keen to display apparent facial scarring when he did not appear to have any
