HAPPY NEW YEAR!! (Additional pictures added on 02/02/12)

I hope everyone had a blessed and joyful Christmas and an equally peaceful and happy new year's eve!  Ronnie and I were fortunate enough to spend 6 days at the Sack of Crabs and see her to completion.  We picked up and hung the cottage sign as well as supervised the delivery and anchoring of the shed aka man cave aka golf cart garage aka "King Crab".  Below are a couple of pictures that brings to a close this chapter of the "Sack of Crabs".

At last, the long awaited completion of the "SACK OF CRABS" - ready for the next chapter

As we close out this chapter and embark on the next chapter we hope and look forward to each and every one of you taking some time to enjoy Hatteras Island, NC at the Sack of Crabs!

Happy Anniversary Dana & Frank (and the Sack)!!

This weekend we celebrated Dana and Frank's 28th wedding anniversary and our 1 week anniversary as owners of the "Sack of Crabs".  We enjoyed a fabulous meal at the Bassnight's Lone Cedar Cafe located on the causeway. We did manage to relax a little bit, however we did get quite a bit done at the "Sack".  The builder poured the pad for the "shed" aka "Golf Cart Garage" aka "Man Cave" aka "whatever!"  They also finished up the lattice work across the front of the cottage, re-configured the steps by added a landing mid-point on the staircase underneath the house which makes it so much more functional.  Thank you Pogie!

While us gals ran errands (shopped!), Ron and Frank mounted 2 TVs, hooked up all the components, put in a dimmer switch, hung pictures, hung mirrors, moved all the adirondeck chairs to the top deck and  got a really good night's sleep (can you say exhaustion?!)  I have included some pictures reflecting  the progress from this weekend.

Crab picture courtesy of our neighbor, Wendy. She created this picture out of tiny, tiny bits of red colored paper cut from magazines. What talent! It is beautiful & we found the perfect spot for it!

Additions to the kitchen above the door and window

Dining Room - waiting on the ceiling fan to come in.

Living Room - waiting on ceiling fan as well as coffee/end tables to come in

Table turned TV component cabinet thanks to the handy work of Dad and Ron.  They transformed the drawer on the left to a false front that houses all the components.  We are working on getting rid of the cords hanging down in the back.  Thanks Dad!!

More of the Living Room - Large sectional couch to the right.  Again, looking a little bare due to the lack of coffee and end tables.  Hope to have them soon!

Foyer / First Floor Landing - Dana and Frank purchased this large vintage Woody sign - looks great in the foyer!!  What a perfect piece to greet you as you enter the Sack of Crabs.  Thanks Frank and Dana!

Re-configuration of the steps under the house.  Originally steps were a single flight with the  piling awkwardly placed at the base.  This works out much better and we gained a seat to put on and off our shoes.  Outdoor shower is around the back side of the steps.

Sack of Crabs with the lattice work complete.  The concrete pad to the right is for the shed/golf cart garage/man cave.  Hope to have the cottage "sign" up in the very near future.

We hope to go down the end of December and ring in the New Year by relaxing at the Sack of Crabs!  We hope you come for a visit in 2012 - the door is always open!!

Sea ya!

EXTRA! EXTRA! Collins Close on Cottage!

Dana's wonderful shopping find!

Wow, what a weekend!  Friday (12/2) we closed on the "Sack of Crabs".   The past 7 months seems like a big fat blur.  One thing we do know is that we must give a gi-normous shout out to Dana and Frank for coming down and helping the entire weekend.  Our closing was delayed 6 hours so Dana and Frank were saddled with meeting, managing and juggling the movers, the furniture delivery folks, the cable dude and the internet/WIFI guy and they still managed to stock the refrigerator!  We couldn't have done it without them!  We would have had to cancel all deliveries in order to make the delayed 3:00 closing (originally scheduled to occur at 9:00 am).   The entire "hurry up and wait" was so nerve racking.  To make everything even more complicated the settlement attorney's office was approximately 45 miles from the Sack of Crabs.  Anywho, it is all behind us and we had a wonderful and eventful first weekend at the Sack of Crabs.   Most important, the new beds/mattresses are wonderful.  We managed to unpack everything that was delivered and put it in its proper places.  We are still waiting on our coffee and end tables in the living room as well as the barstools for the island in the kitchen.  We also have the TV being deliver this week that already has its designated spot on the wall in the living room.  We bought some art pieces on the way home today as well as placed our order for the 12x16 shed (need a garage for the golf cart, right ?!?!?!)  We plan on going back down next weekend to wrap up the furnishings/decorating as well as hanging the purchased wall art.  I am hoping to work remotely on Friday so we can go down Thursday night and at the end of my work day Friday, I can shut my laptop and begin to put things in order Friday evening.

Here are some pictures of our furnishing / decorating efforts thus far:

Beach Cruiser !?!?

Hello there.  Hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving with friends and family.  I know that we sure did.  A big shout out to Theresa and Roy for putting together such a wonderful feast for all of us to enjoy!

We are at the 5-day count-down for our closing on Sack of Crabs.  Have I mentioned that we are really, really excited?!!?  If not, just so you know - we are really, really, really excited!!

Last week, Frank and Ronnie went to Ricky's Custom Carts to "check out" golf carts.  If you are remotely familar with the whole caveman theory thing you know - men are hunters and woman are gathers and you probably know where I am going with this, "check out" means "hunt, conquer, purchase".   Also, if you recall in one of my earlier blogs I mentioned that if Ronnie had his way our beach golf cart would be fire engine red with a 6" lift package and chrome wheels.

Well apparently, I don't know squat about golf carts as I failed to mention chrome diamond-plated trim, chrome steering column and of course, the most obvious, a "speed" chip to make it go faster!!  Check it out........

........guess we can "check" the golf cart off the list!

Talk to everyone soon.

The DREAM becomes Reality!!!!!!!!!!!

Ronnie and I went down to check out the cottage and OMG!!!!!  We are about 2 1/2 weeks away from closing.  Just some touch up painting, housekeeping and minor items left to do.  We met with the movers at the storage unit and stopped by the Outer Banks furniture store to confirm our delivery late morning on Friday, December 2nd.  Closing is scheduled for 9:00 am.  What a fabulous Christmas present!!  Check out the pictures below.  It won't be long before the next pictures we share will be with the furniture (or at least boxes) in the house.
