Elliot, 19 months old

This poor poor blog.  So neglected.  I'd planned to catch it up, but after almost an entire summer and being behind before that, I guess some memories are just going to have to be lost.  There's other social media that's captured most of it anyway, at least snippets.  Good 'ol Chatbooks will save us all.
Anyhoo...  I've decided I'm just going to push forward.  I was looking at older blog posts and I started feeling bad for my also poor neglected second child.  Not that she's actually neglected, but with the blog neglect, she has significantly less documentation about her than her big brother got at her age. So here's a happy little catch up about Elliot now at the ripe 'ol age of 19 Months.

Where to begin?  At her 18 month check up, she was still weighing teeny tiny, but was all on track for everything other than weight.  So, her usual.  Her hair is growing and it's been fun putting it into little hairdos, though there's not much of it.  She just switched to a front facing car-seat, which I think she likes quite a lot.

Elliot is so happy.  All the time.  She is always good for a happy greeting and an enthusiastic "hi!"  She loves to smile and say hi to strangers we pass at the store.  She's so enthusiastic, they always answer her back.  She's starting to really pick up on words, and obviously understands far more than she can say.  A sampling of words she knows off the top of my head is: Hello, mommy, daddy, banana, apple, car, kitty, doggie, more, nora, grandma and grandpa, malcolm (prounounce bah boh), body parts like eyes, ears, nose.  She also says "there it is" or "there you are" in a slurred together sing song word. If you pull out a camera or phone to take her picture, she'll stop and say "cheeeeeeeee!" (cheese).

Elliot loves books, but has a short attention span for them and often stops me half way through to get another one.  She recently prefers to walk rather than be carried or in a stroller, which is kind of a relief, because she has always loved to be carried.  But it's also an issue, because she doesn't want to hold your hand in important places like parking lots and crossing streets.

Elliot and Malcolm play together a lot.  Though they fight plenty, they also spend a lot of time together laughing and playing.  They like to yell at each other across the room at increasing volume levels.  Elliot also likes to provoke Malcolm all the time by just walking up and yelling "mine!" at him.  She doesn't even have to claim anything, and he'll fire back with "mine!" and it goes back and forth until Mommy's patience completely explodes.

Elliot is a screamer.  So much drama comes from that girl.  I say she is most often happy, but when she's not, you know.  She will let a blood curdling scream out at the slightest provocation.  Any time she's remotely unhappy, she's screaming.  She also happy screams, so there's no quiet.  ever.  She's screamed other kids off of toys at the park that she has claimed as her own.

Elliot loves bananas.  I have to limit her to only one a day.  I have to make mid-week grocery runs not just for milk, but for bananas.  She also loves pizza, and can eat more than you'd ever expect her to in one sitting.

Ellie is a tease and a nut.  She is always doing something because she thinks it's funny.  She will yell "mommy" and Ryan because he will correct her over and over and she'll just laugh.  When I'm in the front seat of the car, she'll repeat my name over and over until I look at her and then she just rattles off a bunch of gibberish and laughs.  Then when I turn back, she's back repeating "Mommy mommy mommy mommy" until I turn and she can babble at me and laugh again.  Ellie loves to hand you something just to take it away last minute.  She's one silly little girl.

All in all,  I'm really loving the age Elliot is at right now.  She's so fun and is a nice break from her brother's attitude sometimes.

And to top it all off, here's some pictures of Elliot I took after a random Sunday drive we took around the Alpine Loop that ended at Sundance where an outdoor concert was going on.
