Meandering in Happy Valley

Ryan got a wild hair last week after a co-worker told him about a camp ground they'd found up Provo Canyon.  He decided he wanted to go see it, go for a drive, and get some dinner down in Utah county.  So we went.

We ate at JCW's, then headed up the canyon and found the campground.  It is really nice and not crowded.  We'll probably try camping there sometime in the near future.  We had planned on hiking if there was time up to Stewart Falls, but we were running low on day light.  So we stopped at Vivian Park and walked on the parkway instead.  It turned into a really nice evening.  Yay for Ryan's wild hairs.

We saw a beaver!  It looked like a log floating the wrong direction on the river.

Malcolm's Birthday Circus

Yes, it's true.  I've become one of those moms.  One's that throw big parties for their kids that are only turning 1 and won't even remember it.  I hadn't planned on going quite so all out, but had fun designing and planning and I just got carried away. I had lots of fun though.  The party was a success.

It was circus themed.  We had a pseudo tent, carnival food, and a photo booth.  It was just immediate family (those that live here) and grand parents (or Malcolm's great grand parents).

We had pictures of Malcolm from each month of his first year.

Hot dogs, pop corn, peanuts, corn on the cob, pretzels, circus crackers, and cookies.

The pretzel making station.  Everyone got to build their own.

Grandpa and Bridget playing.  They even got into a pillow fight and Grandpa knocked the lamp on the floor.

The "Photo Booth" was complete with clown noses.  It was really fun.  For most of us anyway.

Denali made the funniest noises with that on her nose.  Lots of snorting.

We had to keep his hands occupied with other noses so he wouldn't pull his off.

It's possible Laura and I liked the nose pictures best.

These of Mike and Bridget are too precious.

Grandma clowns

Aren't they cute?

Ryan made us a Ladder Ball set! He started the project just days before.  I'm sure we'll have many more Ladder Ball parties.

This one's funny, I caught Dad yelling at his near miss.

Malcolm watching Ladder ball with all his loot behind him.

Mal was pretty involved in his present opening.  It was very cute.

Then cake of course!

Parties are so fun.
I can't believe Malcolm is one year old!  He goes to his doctor's appointment tomorrow, so we'll soon have his one year stats and do a one year update.
