Rice and Beans

One of Malcolm's favorite things to eat is Rice and Beans.  ("'Do you like rice and beans?' 'Yes, I love mice and beans'" -Skippy Jon Jones) We let him go to town the other night and wow, what. a. mess.  All the way up his arms and to his eyebrows!  It was adorable and gross all together.  He had a nice bath after.

Sundays at Grandma and Grandpa's

These were from Father's day at my parent's house.  We have lots of fun playing at Grandpa and Grandma's on Sundays.  Also, I needed somewhere to post these pictures, so there you go.

Malcolm magically hovering!  This is my parent's "camping highchair".  I know they make things like this now, but they are so less simple.  Malcolm loved sitting up to the table and loved that he had his own plate and silverware.  He had a good time feeding things to the dogs.

Bridget was looking at all the dress ups.  She would just keep pulling things out and say something like, "oh that's very nice." or "ooh, that's pretty!" but didn't put anything on.  So I just started putting stuff on her, then made her pose for me to take her picture.
Kids are fun, aren't they?

Hiking to Cecret Lake... Almost

Seriously, what is up the hikes we've been on lately?  I took Malcolm up Little Cottonwood canyon to hike to Cecret Lake.  I got there and the road up to the trail head wasn't opened yet for the season.  Since we'd driven the whole way though, and it was only 2 miles to the trail head, I figured I might as well just make it part of the hike.  I'm still not sure I even found the spot to hike to Cecret lake.  There's lots of little off trails and cat/service roads all over there.  We rounded yet another corner and hadn't seen the landmarks I was looking for, so we just sat in a meadow and had our snacks.  By then, Malcolm was getting tired, so I decided I'd just head back to the car.  It was a nice walk, though a little anti-climactic without the lake at the end.  By the time I was back to the road, Malcolm had fallen asleep.  I was kicking myself for not just going on further instead of turning around--but how was I to know he'd sleep instead of just cry the whole way?  Oh well,  I am determined to return again and really make it to the lake.  It can't be that hard, it's only 0.8 miles there!! (another reason I'd decided I must not be in the right place.)  Maybe we'll go after the road is opened so I'm not on foot while trying to find the trail head.

First Father's Day

We celebrated Father's day by speaking in church--that is, I did.  Then we went visiting to my dad.  I didn't make Father's day very special, I'm ashamed to say.  I had worked the two previous nights before.  It was a miracle I was coherent for it.

I'll say one thing though, It sure is good being a mom, with a dad like Ryan--that is, a husband being a dad... You know what I mean.  He goes above and beyond.  I love him so much, and so does Malcolm.  Yay dad!

Pictures Pictures Pictures...

Thanks to my iPhone, and more thanks to Instagram making it so that my cell phone pictures look better than just regular old cell phone pictures, I have a serious problem.  There's not a day in Malcolm's life that isn't documented on camera. Along with other randomness from all our lives. Some of them I'd like to save, for whatever random reason.  If you follow me on Instagram, you will be very bored, as these are repeats.

The last time I put him in his car seat in the stroller.  He spent the whole time leaned forward like this.  Now I just put him in front-facing.

Practicing standing.  I put him up there, he doesn't pull himself up yet.

I LOVE this picture. I think because it's so very Malcolm to me.  The shape of his head and the way he's sitting holding his book.

This was shortly after the picture above.  He was tired, I was being, uh... sympathetic?

He got a hold of his-- what do you call it?-- awning? shade?  Whatever.  We looked back in the car and there he was!

I was folding clothes, he was unfolding.  It was very productive.
Gave him a mohawk to mess with daddy.  I still do it sometimes, just for fun.
He looks so big in this picture!  Like a kid, not an infant!

Playing in our sheets.

Walking on the parkway.  It's so nice to live close to it.  I love him in the top one with his ankles crossed (like always) and his grin at nothing.

he's a happy man!

I had cold feet and couldn't find either of the other one of these slippers/slipper socks.  So I just wore both of the ones I had.  Ryan made fun.

Reading.  I try to read Mal 4 books a day.  I dunno why I picked 4, I just did.  Sometimes we get 4, sometimes we get zero, sometimes we get 10.

I've taken lots and lots of bath pictures.

Denali, sleeping sleeping sleeping.  Like all new babies do.

Malcolm and Uncle Jordan

This one Ryan sent me while I was at work on Memorial day.  It's all the grandkids.  Cute, eh?  Their faces are funniest.

We went out to pick spinach.  Turns out it's not spinach after all.  Ryan got which seeds lived mixed up.  We're pretty sure they're green peppers now.  :)

I also take lots and lots of eating pictures.

He was practicing standing in this rubbermaid tote.  He got really tired of that fast.

Took this at City Creek.  Two ladies standing by turned to me and said, "That really was as cute as it looked.  It's not just because you're his mom. That was SO cute!"

Where he's usually at when I clean the bathroom.  I move him from bathroom doorway to bathroom doorway.

We tried out the glowstick man outfit for our YW fundraiser dinner entertainment.  The dance turned out really cool.  I have a video, but blogger won't cooperate with videos anymore I've decided.  Too bad, I have a few good ones to post.

Mess on his tray and on the floor.  This was his first experience with blueberries.
He chews on the backside of his binky.  He doesn't suck on it, just chews.

At the park

Baby flip flops!

These were decorations for our YW fundraiser dinner.  I made them all while at work overnight, then had to get them all home on my scooter.

And there you have it!  I told you I have a problem.
