Dear Feet

Remember when you looked... well... normal?
Remember when you fit into all my shoes?
Remember when I could push my finger into the tops of you and it wouldn't leave in imprint that would last 10 minutes?
Or even just remember when you'd look normal at least in the morning?
Remember when I could see the tendons and veins underneath the surface of your skin?

I remember, but only just a little. Cuz it's been a looooooooong time since you were normal.

Someday, when the blood vessels in my pelvis are no longer being compressed by this baby boy, I hope we can get back to that.
Until then, you'll be in my memory always...

Now Dear Hands.....

Blog Atrophy

Well, have I been a blog slacker or what? Not that it's been a real long time since I blogged, but I've had plenty to blog about and just haven't done it. It's a darn good thing I take so many pictures of random stuff we do. It helps me remember what all happened so I can keep track on this blog/journal of ours.

I warn you though, this will be a rather journalistic post and so it probably won't be very exciting to anyone except maybe Ryan's parents/family in Alaska cuz they like to know the random stuff we do. Just like we like to know about their random stuff. (*hint *hint*-- haven't blogged since easter? or Thanksgiving????? )

So starting last week....

My cousin Sara threw me a family baby shower. It was a cookies and milk theme and she had some super cute decorations. So cute in fact, that's all I got pictures of.
Diaper cake made by Brenna--These are so fun!

We took the sign home so we could hang it up on the big day.
Lots of family came, including some of Ryan's fam. It was good to see everyone and enjoy ourselves some baby talk and cookies. Thanks Sara!

I think it was that night we went to a Blaze game with Mary and Vince and Mara and Jae. (I could totally be messing up time-lines here, but it doesn't really matter, does it?) Oh, and Vince's family was there, but I didn't get pictures of them. We get free Blaze games with our Pass of All Passes from Seven Peaks. They're pretty entertaining. Ryan wants to go to one and sit in the front row because you get free footballs when they go out of bounds and lots of free stuff. And dudes practically fall on you and everything. Very exciting.

Then on Sunday, (two Sunday's ago from now) a momentous occasion happened...
I cut Ryan's hair!

He's always been trying to get me to do it. I used to cut my Dad's hair all the time, but he always wanted it one length and I don't like the way a one length buzz looks on Ryan. But MiQuelle gave me confidence by cutting Jordan's hair first, so I took the plunge and decided to do Ryan's.

He looks scared, but I don't think he really cared that much what it turned out as.
(My parent's sure have a great 60's kitchen don't they? HGTV nominee anyone?)
Later when he was helping my dad replace the windshield wiper pump in my car, you can see, it looks fine!

Here's the back even:
Now I think I have a new part-time job: Cutting Ryan's hair.

We had family night with Laura and Andrew where we ate cheese cake and played Sequence.
We played it on the floor, which is not the easiest place to sit these days. I was talking, and mid-sentence (or mid-word as Laura says it happened), I felt suddenly really light headed and immediately laid down on the floor with my feet up. It was probably pretty funny looking, but I didn't want to pass out! I think the combo of baby pressing and me talking non-stop made me light headed. Laura yelled, "Did your water just break??!!" at me as I was tipping over to lay down. It was a good laugh-- with my feet up of course.

The next day I was putting on my pants and found Sequence tiles in the cuff! My pants made the weirdest noise and it took me a while to figure out where it was coming from.

At my appointment last week, I finally asked the midwives what they had as my due date. I knew it was different than what I always go off of because I always go off the ultrasound I got at my mom's office which was "unofficial". They have my due date as Aug 1st! BWAAAH? I know it's only 4 days different, but every pregnant woman wants it sooner than later. And he's measuring right on for their due date rather than mine... bummer. I just keep hoping that there'll be a baby here when Ryan's parent's come. It would be truly lame if they get here and leave with no baby.

Since that appointment I've readjusted my mental clock to a later date so I'm not disappointed. But I still hope it's a little early. Not just because I'm uncomfortable, but because Ryan's parents are coming on July 30th, and my mom leaves for Scotland on Aug. 5.

One reassuring thing is that I'm finally feeling a few Braxton Hicks contractions, so lets hope those continue and ripen that cervix! (Sorry to make you think of my cervix.)

My friend Nina from nursing school is moving to Wisconsin, so a few of us got together one last time to see her. We went to Pei Wei for lunch and the server asked, "Are you ALL pregnant?" I said, "Not the one's with their babies in their arms." It was funny. (Maybe had-to-be-there funny?)
Here's all the ladies with their babies already out, except Christie (on the Right), she's got another one coming any moment! Literally--I think she's being induced today!
I love how much they resemble their mommies. So cute.

You may already know, but Ryan plays Softball in a rec league with some co-workers of his. I finally took pictures at his game last week. He plays on Friday nights. Though this game was forfeit by the other team because they didn't have enough players.

Ryan catching:
Standing on base:
And hitting:
I know, he's such a stud.

This weekend was "Taylorsville Dayzz". They have a parade and carnival and fireworks. I'm not exactly sure why, but it's still fun. We went when I got off a little early on Saturday. We saw the K-9 demonstration:

They were some pretty neat dogs, with some mad drug-searching, people-attacking skills.

We got some food, including my lately most favorite: a snow cone! (or slushy, or Popsicle...)
We wandered around for a bit, then went home with tentative plans to return for fireworks. We didn't end up going back. I'm a little bit of a party pooper after working all day. Pregnancy makes me a wuss.

Well, that brings us all the way to this week...
At my parent's house on Sunday it went to the dogs.

Laura and Andrew, and MiQuelle and Jordan all have recently gotten new puppies. They brought them over for Sunday dinner. It was quite the party.

We're not quite so cool. We're just having a baby. :)

Here's Laura and Andrew's dog, Indy. ("We named the dog Indiana.")
He's a boxer mix of some kind. He has TONS of energy and likes to slobber/attack your face.

And MiQuelle and Desmond:
He's a wire haired fox terrier (hypoallergenic for Kell's sake), and looks like a teddy bear. He's got a very quiet temperament and sleeps in your lap.

And I think that's FINALLY all I have to blog about. This week it's been nothing but nesting and organizing for me. I just want to get everything done so that I don't have to think about it. I want everything cleaned so it's easier to clean later--or less embarrassing when someone else is cleaning it for me after baby comes. It's actually been kind of fun, and rewarding. I sometimes open the pantry just to look at how organized it all is. Which is very weird for me. I'm okay with contained ciaos most of the time.

Love My Family

It's only been 4 years since it was just us 4, but it's weird now to see only us.

This goes in oldest to youngest from right to left for the original siblings.

I feel bad for people who aren't friends with their siblings. I love these guys. Best. Friends. Ever.

34 Weeks

Holy Moly! Look at that belly!

And now, the part where I make all the same complaints 3rd trimester pregnant women everywhere are making:

My hips hurt!
My pelvis hurts!
My sciatic nerve makes my butt hurt!
My ribs feel bruised!
My feet are killing me!
I'm so tired!
I can't breathe!
I can't sleep!

I think that about covers it.
(It's only temporary, it's only temporary, it's only temporary...)
(Temporary is a strange word when you see it over and over and over.)

Things to do before baby comes:
Organize nursery and get my own clothes (mostly) out of there.
Get the guest room together so we have somewhere to put Ryan's parents when they come.
Pedicure (my feet are embarrassing!)
Rest. Rest. Rest.

Even Though I've Done Nothing Today, Is It Still Okay If I Lay Down?

Well, time flies when you're having fun.

Or sleeping all the time.

It's official, Pregnancy is harder than it looks. And apparently harder than I'm making it look because people tell me all the time that I seem to be doing really well. Truth is, it hurts. But this post is not for whining, it's for an update on the happenings at the Green residence.

Last week, while Ryan was playing softball, I went to the drive-in theater with Laura and Andrew. We saw Super 8, which I'd describe as Goonies meets ET. It was entertaining and had some really good special effects. But once again, don't see movies at the drive in you want to see great detail of. It's just hard when the lighting and sound, etc can't be perfectly controlled.

Here we are just before it got dark enough for the movie, and before it started raining.

There was lightning and thunder at one of the most exciting parts, that was kind of fun!

Let's see, what else has been happening? Lamaze is still going good. The more I go to the classes the more I want to try for a natural birth. We learned about epidurals and C-sections this last one, and I was just like--blech. No thanks to all of the above please! But I don't know how I'll cope with labor yet, so the epidural is never out of the picture completely. Sometimes I'm just ready to be done and have this baby already, but most of the time I'm still scared out of my wits about becoming a mom, so we'll keep him in there for a while longer. :)
Napping for at least 2 hours a day is harder with an infant I'm told.

Lamaze class also gives us a little date night together every week. We'll often go to eat first, then the class is much more interactive than seeing a movie or something. And we often have to do nice things like give me massages through fake contractions :).

The weather has been heating up, but still hasn't gotten crazy hot like it usually is this year. It's really a blessing because if it gets hot fast, we'll have floods for sure.
Ryan and I have lots of picnics and things outside. This is us on Sunday at Murray park:

Yup, Ryan's wearing a jacket while snoozing on the grass. In JUNE!

Also on Sunday was a BBQ at Laura and Andrew's apartment that is in the back portion of a house in Murray. They have a yard, and the house renters let us use their grill.

It was partially for Andrew's Birthday, which is being celebrated for like 3 weeks straight with random things with his family and ours. His birthday isn't til June 24th.
But hey, any excuse for cake is awesome!

This camera app is a little funny. If I don't give it enough time to "develop" the pictures before closing the app, the pictures are just deleted. I'm pretty sure I got a picture of Andrew blowing out his candles (with lots of help from the wind!), but it's vanished.

We also played Uno, and jumped on the tramp in the yard.
It feels like forever since I've made it to my parent's house for our usual weekly Sunday dinners. I seem to always be working or something.

This is Jordan and Kell and their motorcycle.

I had a ward Baby shower last week too. It went well considering I still only know most people by their faces and not their names. We got lots of much needed stuff, and the women were so generous! Lots of handmade things were given to us. Ryan stayed in the basement of the neighbor's house and watched the NBA finals game 5.
(Hooray for the Mavrick's by the way, for winning it all. They rock! and I've always liked Dirk Nowitzki.)

And that's about it, until next update time!
