hair today, gone tomorrow.

A few weeks ago I chopped off all my hair. Okay, I didn't, a really good curly hair hairdresser did. She was so good! she has curly hair, and specializes in curly hair, so she taught me a lot about how to treat it. and let me tell you my curls have never looked better! they're much less frizzy, and so much curlier. I was starting to wonder if I had lost some of my curl due to age or hormone changes or something, but she showed me it's still there!
I have this funny thing with hairdressers, if they don't talk enough or talk too much, I won't go back. I hate a hairdresser that just chats away with the other hairdressers when she's cutting my hair. But I hate silence too. A good hairdresser is a good talker. Someone who can talk to anyone comfortably. And Anne Marie was like that. I had a wonderful experience for once getting my hair cut! I highly recommend her to anyone, even non curlies. but especially curly/wavy haired people. She is pricey($65 for a curly cut and style, cheaper for non curlies), but I thought it was worth it. find her at cutcolorcurls.com. (you can make appointments online and email her whenever you have questions.)
Here's a picture of me with my hair! (I donated it to Locks of Love)
not the best pic, it was after the first time I'd done my hair on my own the new way and it's not as frizz free as I can get it now a days.

President's day weekend skiing

Over president's weekend Ryan and I went on a ski trip with my Fam. well, my Dad, sis and Bro. We went down for the weekend to Cedar City to ski at BrianHead resort. My dad seems to have this new goal to ski every resort in Utah, and since he's never been there before, he planned a trip to BrianHead. My Dad hasn't skied much this year even though it's been an incredible snow year, because he broke his wrist! He broke it his second time learning to snowboard. He just had a hard hit and wa-bam! he busted it. What I thought was weird was that the doc put an external fixater on it. Which, if you don't know, is a bunch of screws and stabilizers screwed in through his skin to hold his bone together. Like a halo for your wrist. I've seen them all the time at work on people with bad breaks. anyhoo... He got it off on a Monday and took us all to BrianHead the following friday! way to recuperate, ya?
The trip was a lot of fun and the skiing was great. We completely wore ourselves out. I had a goal to try to ski faster than I usually do. I'm usually wussy and just leisurely ski down, but this time I kicked it up a notch and tried to keep up with my dad. (I thought maybe I'd try to keep up with Jordan, but that kid is INSANE!!! he's got no fear, and he's been skiing a lot this year and pretty much perfected the leaving everyone in the dust technique. literally- he has double tipped skis and the back sends snow flying no matter how fast he goes!) In fact, they had this thing set up where you could race and be timed. you even go around the slolom flags and stuff! I went so fast I got butterflies. I even beat my dad's time!
It was great weather, though very sunny. we all got funny sunburns/windburns. and poor Ryan broke out in cold sores after we got back.

on the way back we stopped at a hot springs we call the "Mystical Kanosh" it's in a random cow pasture near Kanosh, Ut and Meadow, Ut. It's a great temperature and you don't get to hot sitting in it forever. It's like bathtub water. and It's super deep where it bubbles up, so you can dive down and check out the cavern it comes out of.

and unfortunately there was an accident and I apparently became temporarily inflicted with cerebral palsy. (referring to my hand in the pic)

the following monday, president's day. I went with my dad and laura and Jordan to another ski resort we've never been to. a skiiers only resort- Deer Valley. (Ryan had to work, and he doesn't ski. but if he could come we probably would have gone somewhere else.) Laura put on skis for the first time in two years! So she had kind of a private ski lesson from my dad for the first couple hours and Jord and I skied all over. Dear Valley is fun because it's a stay and ski resort so we met lots of people from all over. and the terrain is HUGE! here's a few pics from that one.

Blogger virgin

Ooh! this is so exciting! my very own blog. well, I guess it's OUR very own blog, since I'll include Ryan in a lot of it, and he can post if he wants too. I've been thinking a while now that I'd like to get a blog. I wanted one because I'd like to send friends and family pictures and things, but attaching to email is annoying cuz you have to adjust the size, bla bla blah. So here's a place I can share those things with my peeps if they care to. Also, I keep looking at my sad journal sitting on my night stand mostly empty and feeling guilty because I'm really bad at writing in it. mostly because of the writers cramp. typing is so much easier. and this way I can include pictures with! A girl at work that blogs told me you can print it, and there's even websites that will make your blog into a book for you! neato!
So this is for sharing with whoever cares, but it's mostly for me to keep documentation of my lovely life! enjoy!
