As for what random thing I've been thinking now, I've been thinking about endings in games, movies, tv, books, etc. It seems to me that no matter how good a show is, how exciting the action is going, or how good the plot is, if it ends on a weak ending it just ticks me off. Case in points, Halo 2 (Game),High Druid of Shannara Tanequil (Book) , and Neon Genesis Evangelion (anime). Note- These are by no means "bad" as in the quality is terrible. I just felt that the endings were either weak or they left me saying "That's it?....thats BS!! >_<
Some of you might notice that some of these examples are part of a trilogy. (except for NGE which I still say the ending was BS) True, the middle part of a trilogy is sometimes weak due to the fact that it usually the build up to a grand conclusion. But there are examples of great middle story's in trilogy's that are great by themselves. There's Mass Effect 2 (game), The Empire Stikes Back (film), and The Two Towers. These examples ended satisfying for me cause while they left on a sorta cliffhanging ending for the overall plot, their own story ends magnificently. Where as the other examples above they get to this high point in the story where you are wondering what could happen next.......and it ends on a very high cliffhanger. That is one of my most major pet peeves.
So.....thoughts? Do you guys find that a good ending is essential? (I'll get better on this. I promise. ^_^)
