Last night Miles was making the cutest little kissy faces and noises. (Sorry he's moving so much, but he won't stop bouncing once he's in his bouncer.)

Mac has something he wants to ask his Aunt Bailey....
So come visit so you can take him!

{Daddy's Boy}
The other night after putting Miles to bed I came downstairs to find this.....
Seriously, such a daddy's boy! Mac hardly ever wants to cuddle with me and I swear it's been this way since day one. When Ryan is at work he always tells me "daddy tome home" and as soon as he can hear the garage door open he tries to hide from Ryan, only to go running over to him seconds later and give him a big hug and kiss! Yes, I am slightly jealous, however I have a plan....I am going to start working on Miles.....hopefully he'll be a Momma's boy :)

{First Time}
Last night we gave Miles solid food (other than rice cereal) for the first time. On the menu: peaches. We figured since the weather was so nice and felt like summer Miles would enjoy the summertime taste of peaches. He liked them for the most part, but still managed to pull some really funny faces as he tasted them for the first time.

{One Year}
Well, it's been exactly one year since the passing of my Grammy. I seriously can't believe it was an entire year ago. So much has happened since then and I really wish she were here to experience some of the things she's missed. This is really for my own journaling purposes, but I wanted to compile a list of the things I remember most about her.
This is one of my favorite pictures of Grammy. Ryan showed up to my little sister's Halloween party dressed up as an old lady and nobody knew who it was, even me. He played the part so well because he came down the stairs walking super slow and was all hunched over, exactly like a real old lady would. Everyone got a kick out of it, but I think Grammy in particular loved it. She even requested we take her picture with Ryan to remember.
Another one of my favorite pictures because it was such a memorable day for our family. It was the birth of Mac, who is our first born son, the first born grandson, and the first born great grandson. Grammy came to the hospital with my mom and sister at 7 am and didn't leave until about 10 pm that day. The nurses kept telling them they couldn't wait in the hall, but, as usual, Grammy really didn't care what they said and kept poking her head in. One of the last things Grammy said to me was that she was going to meet our second born son before we did. I never in a million years thought that would be the case and was even upset at the time for her saying that. But she knew.
My other favorite memories about Grammy:
-going to the horse races and learning the "right way" to pick a horse
-picking out my wedding gown (it was the first one I put on and both her and my mother said "ok we're done, that's the one")
-Sunday breakfast at Orbitz
-the first time she watched Mac she put his diaper on backwards, which I find hilarious because she raised 5 kids of her own
-her trips to the DI and how she would re-sale many of the items on Ebay for a much higher price
-watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy at her apartment (as kids we hated this but as I grew older I didn't mind and would chirp in and play with her)
-birds (Grammy loved birds)
-soap (she collected soap, whether it was soap from a hotel, soap shaped as animals, or just plain old soap that she liked the smell of)
-Grammy loved watching Animal Planet
-her favorite saying was "they don't have a pot to piss in"
-she conveniently showed up to my parents house every weeknight around 5:00, which was exactly the time my mother would have dinner ready
-her and her sisters and brothers-in-law would go to Target cafe every Saturday to drink coffee and catch up on that week
-visiting Zions bank as kids (she worked there for like 40+ years or something)
-savings bonds (this was the infamous gift we got at Christmas as kids)
-her many superstitions (no shoes on the bed, you couldn't pick up a penny off the floor unless it was face up, black cats were bad luck if they crossed in front of you, etc.)
-and Wendover, oh Wendover. This was Grammy's favorite place and there were many trips out West with her and still are in remembrance of her. I have two particular times that are most memorable. When I turned 21 my parents, Ryan, Grammy, and I headed out there to celebrate. It was a night full of fun and Ryan, my dad, and I called it quits at about 4 am, but Grammy and my mom wanted to keep playing. Well, when we woke up at 9 am that morning to get showered and go get some breakfast, here comes Grammy and my mom just a giggling away! They hadn't even slept! I was out-partied by my Grandmother! The next favorite time would be for her last birthday that she was alive. My family rented the "fun bus" on a Sunday and we left early that morning. It was a surprise and she had no idea. She thought we were just going to our typical Sunday breakfast and when we pulled into the parking lot there was a bus with a sign that said "Janet's Fun Bus." The bus was filled with her family and close friends. We played bingo and drank mimosas on the ride out and then all day we just gambled away. I don't know if there will ever be another time when the black jack table consists completely of my family members.....well knowing my family I might rescind this comment...but you get the point. What a great time!
There are many more memories but these are the ones that stick out most in my mind.
Miss you Grammy. And I know I'm not the only one.

{The First Project}
Do you remember that one of my goals for 2009 was to learn to knit? Well, in the middle of February I decided to get started on it and had my mom help me knit a scarf. It definatley took a lot longer than I expected. I even find myself having a greater appreciation for all those "handmade" items and now know why they are a bit more expensive. Well, I finally finished it yesterday (just in time for spring right?)! It's not perfect, I know...seriously....don't look too close because I slipped a few stitches and my scarf got smaller and smaller as I kept going because my stitches were getting tighter and tighter. But anyways...I am THRILLED! I am now graduating to a hat and can't wait to post the picture (don't wait too long seeing that a scarf took me 2 months :)

{The End}
This is about how excited I am to see the end of tax season.
Just a little bit.
Well, this tax season literally went out with a bang. At about 2:00 this afternoon, our firm, along with the entire block on State Street, experienced a complete power outage and it wasn't expected to be recovered until 6:00 pm. Having no way to email clients, answer phone calls, postmark extensions, or even see to put together a tax return. What could be more perfect? I know, watching High School Musical 3 on a co-workers laptop in the dark patiently waiting for the power to return. Needless to say the power was recovered and, like every other year, I managed to survive (probably with a few more wrinkles from stress though). Well, as chaotic as the day was, I am putting it behind me and enjoying a nice, relaxing DAY OFF tomorrow! So if you need me you will have to come to my house and there I will be- sitting on my couch in my pjs all day while finishing the rest of High School Musical 3.

{Eggs}
Friday night our family decorated eggs. As you can tell from the pictures, Mac had a blast coloring all over the eggs, paper, and his hands. So creative!
Completely concentrated on the task at hand.
So concentrated that he wouldn't even look up to take a picture.
He had to make sure that he had colored on every single egg.
The Easter bunny is definitely going to LOVE these eggs!

{On the Hunt}
Saturday morning Ryan and I took the kids to an Easter egg hunt. Mac wasn't too interested, especially since it was at the park. He would have rather just played.
Miles dressed up for the occasion and wore his cute bunny hat my mom made him.

{Mr. Mac}
This kid seriously has enough personality to go around for all. He is such a goof, especially when he is hanging out with his dad. I was going through the camera and found these pictures that Ryan took of him when I was at work one day. I don't even know what they are doing, but apparently it was really funny and involves string cheese????
There's just a special bond between a father and son.

{Stickers}
Because the weather has been so awful lately, we've had to come up with things to do inside. I bought Mac some train stickers the other day thinking we could put them on a piece of paper, color it, etc. Well, I gave him the stickers so he could check them out and then left the room to go get some paper. This is what I came back to.

{Q is For}
Yesterday Mac and I were doing flashcards together. He does pretty good with the letters, but it was particularly fun when we came across the letter Q. I held up the card, which had a picture of a queen on the front, and asked him "Mac, what's this?" He looked at the card, studied it for a bit, and then said to me "Oh ya, that's a mommy." My response, "Yes Mac, that IS a mommy. And don't forget to show that one to your dad."
