Playing in the Snow

Last week Ryan and I had a work Christmas party and got out of work a little early. That day we got quite a bit of snow so we rushed to Target to get Amira some snow bibs, mittens (that will fit her till she's 5) and snow boots so she could play in the snow for the first time. She wasn't quite sure about getting all bundled up and putting on mittens. She was so dang cute with her snow gear on!
Amira has been obsessed with snowmen this past month so Ryan was really looking forward to building her a snowman but the snow wasn't wet enough so we just played around in the fluffy white snow.
Her boots were a little bit too big so there was quite a bit of falling down but she didn't seem to mind.
At one point Amira got stuck in this position. Ryan had to go over and rescue her. I love this picture though.
A few days later it snowed again and the snow was perfect for a snowman.
Ryan built a great snowman and Amira loved it.......
Capone wasn't so sure about it. He kept wanting to jump up on him and I think he lifted his leg to pee on the snowman a couple of times.
With Amira's obsession over snowmen (or as she says it, "snuman") has brought about a lot of snowmen and even a snow lady at our house. My grandma who has TONS of Christmas decorations made it a point to mostly put out snowmen decorations just for Amira. When we get to there house Amira goes right for the snowmen.
I usually don't look forward to the snow but I really hope we get some more of it soon. Amira had so much fun with it.

Amira's First Hair Cut

Last Saturday we took Amira to our friend Alexis to get her first haircut. Amira's hair has been looking pretty scary lately, for some reason it won't grow on the sides. It just grows on the top and in the back! My mom dug up some pictures of when I was little and it looks like I'm the one to blame for Amira's hair growth. I had the same hair problem she has! I knew that Amira was over due for a haircut when Ryan said our child's hair looks like Al Sharpton's hair.

BEFORE
We tried to get Amira to sit in the chair by herself but she wasn't having it. So I had to hold her while Alexis attempted to trim her hair.
I never knew that a simple hair cut could be so traumatic!
We gave her a sucker and it seemed to help a little to calm her down. But big crocodile tears mixed with a sucker created quite the mess, luckily we both had capes on.
AFTER
Amira recovered pretty quickly after the hair cut so she could play with her friends Ryan and Reese. They had such a good time dancing in front of a singing Christmas tree.  Ryan and Reese are so cute with each other that it makes me so excited to give Amira a sister in less than six weeks!

A Little Mischievous

Last weekend Ryan was in San Diego visiting his uncle so it was just me and the little one. We had a great time hanging out together. We went to a great Christmas party, had a not so successful visit with Santa, and went to the Festival of Trees.

Amira is beginning to be quite mischievous lately, especially since the Christmas tree went up and presents started appearing underneath the tree. Amira carried around an ornament or two with her for about a week after the tree went up. She just couldn't keep her hands off of the tree. Over the past couple of days the tree isn't near as interesting but it could be because there isn't any more ornaments left on the tree that are within her reach.
We don't have to wonder if Amira will be interested in opening presents on Christmas day because she has already unwrapped almost every present under the tree. If any of our family would like to know what you are getting for Christmas, just ask Amira she knows cause she's unwrapped it (multiple times)! Luckily nothing none of the presents were breakable because they have been moved all around, stacked on top of each other, sat on, stood on, and dropped.
We really have to be careful of everything these days. My mom had her purse sitting on our couch the other day and Amira unzipped it and pulled out everything she could. I think it took her only 45 seconds to empty the purse. The pad of post-it notes was her favorite find that day.
Ryan's dad told him, "We should just let Amira do what she wants, as long as she isn't hurting herself or anything else, just let her explore. This is how she learns." Even though she is mischievous lately, you can't help but laugh at some of the things she does!

17 Months Old Photo Shoot

A couple of weeks ago we went and had Amira's pictures taken. I absolutely love to have her pictures taken because I want to capture every stage of this precious girls little life. Amber Rust from Two Color Photography has taken Amira's pictures since she was just three months old. She does such a great job and is so great with kids.

Here's some of my favorite shots!

I love this little coat I found at Old Navy. So sophisticated!
Such a cute little look on her face.

This cute little smile really shows her personality I think.

During this picture she was saying, "Oh no, ghosts!"

Looking for Cheerio's in the bucket. Aren't we sneaky?

Getting Dizzy

There are so many funny moments with Amira but I wanted to make sure to journal about this one. On Monday night I was sitting on the couch looking on the Internet when I noticed out of the corner of my eye Amira walked straight into the Christmas tree. I asked her if she was okay and she said, "No." Which is what she answers every time you ask her is she is okay. Then three seconds later I see her walk across the living room and run into the wall and then turn and run into the baby gate. At this point I thought maybe there is something wrong with her and she can't see straight. I ask, "Amira are you okay?" She says, "No." Then she starts spinning in circles and trying to walk. I was laughing so hard I was crying. As she was spinning in circles she kept saying, "Hey, hey, hey." As if it was someone forcing her to be dizzy. We've spun her in circles while she was in our arms but it was so funny to see her do it on her own.

I love watching her discover new things!
