Jake Whitehall Plays Gay Face Yet Again In Disney Movie Jungle Cruise

It's hard to find out if Jake Whitehall is actually gay or not. One source claims he dated a woman from 2011 until 2017, but it's not totally clear. He's also been known to play gay face before, with backlash. I'm just linking now. Not offering my opinion. I didn't see either of these projects. 

Jack Whitehall received some backlash for taking on the role of a gay character.

Aside from all this, Whitehall, who may or may not be gay, is now playing gay face again in Disney's Jungle Cruise and this time there's still some controversy with the way the gay character is being portrayed. I hate to speculate but this is what often happens when straight people try to do gay content. 

British comedian Jack Whitehall plays Lily's brother MacGregor Houghton, who is gay, even coming out in a scene with Wolff (though notably without employing the word "gay").

Here's this link. The comments about why they don't use the word gay are interesting. I love the way straight people all refer to being as as just sexuality. 

For the record, I'm proud of the word gay! I not only want that label, I OWN that label. 

As a side note, they had a problem with another character, too, and this really bothered me.

"We understood that we needed to maintain that whimsy and spirit of the ride with all the nostalgia, but we also need to bring it into this modern era of what's appropriate," says Blunt. 

WTF is he talking about with this "modern era?" The odds are that if it's wrong now it was wrong 40 years ago. And the odds are it offended someone 40 years ago. It has nothing to do with a "modern era."

Yet Another Horror Story From Homophobic Ghana In Anti-Gay Africa

Countries in Africa like Ghana are probably some of the worst in the entire world with regard to human rights and LGBTQ rights. LGBTQ people in these hideous countries are treated like criminals even though they've done nothing wrong. It's infuriating and it violates all common decency at this point. And as a gay person who cares about what's happening globally to LGBTQ people, I have no respect for anyone who tries to defend these places. 

This. Is. Wrong. 

For the LGBTQ community in Ghana, the first half of 2021 has been nothing short of devastating. In less than six months, the community has come under intense and repeated attacks from politicians, the police, religious groups, and anti-gay organizations, including a heavily biased media committed to pillorying and misrepresenting an already marginalized group. 

Here's more. The piece goes on to mention other issues for LGBTQ people in Ghana and other parts of Africa. It's worth the time just to see what's happening to these poor people. I also think I'll keep this link as my "go-to" for anyone who thinks Africa is such a wonderful place.

Twitter and TikTok Remove Videos Exposing Gay Olympic Athletes on Dating Apps

I know nothing about Grindr or dating apps so this is all new to me. Apparently, there's an "explore" feature on Grindr where you can see video profiles and these so-called "creators" decided to blast videos of Olympic athletes on social media. But Twitter and TikTok removed all videos for very obvious safety reasons. 

The videos risked outing some athletes as gay and posed a potential threat to Olympians from countries where homosexuality is still outlawed.  

Here's more. Grindr made a harsh statement and condemned the creators. Notice how they still use the word, "homosexuality." 

But at least social media is aware of the anti-gay countries in this world. And that this is still happening to gay people in 2021. It could create some serious situations.

I really don't know much about Anita Bryant. Other than what I've read and what I've been told, the most I know about her that seems accurate is that she's always been anti-gay. I think her biggest claim to fame was that she was once Miss Oklahoma, and later 2nd runner up in the Miss America Pageant. 

And now there's an interesting twist to Bryant's own personal story. Her granddaughter is gay and she's getting married and the granddaughter isn't sure about whether or not she should invite Bryant to the wedding. 

It's truly a rather sad story. I'm sure my grandparents knew about my brother and me being gay, even though those things were never discussed aloud. But they always supported us in quiet ways. And my own mom and dad, as grandparents, offered nothing but love and support to my nephew and niece when they came out as gay. So I feel so sorry for Bryant's granddaughter. 

The granddaughter of “arch” anti-gay activist Anita Bryant is unsure if she should invite her granny to her wedding in which she will marry another woman.

Here's more. I would hope that if she's invited Bryant would attend. I hope there's a follow-up to this. 

There's also a famous video of Bryant at this link where she's giving a press conference back in the 1970s and right in the middle of her anti-gay speech someone hits her in the face with a pie.

There's a rapper named "DaBaby" who apparently isn't afraid of showing his anti-gay hate, especially with his comments about people living with HIV.

And he's scum. Just pure scum. 

Performing at Rolling Loud festival in Miami, he invited every audience member to "put your cell phone light up" apart from those who were HIV-positive or were gay men who had sex in car parks.

Here's the rest. On a lighter note, I guess we all know how seriously we can take someone with the name "DaBaby." 

Olympic TV Ratings Are Low But Streaming Is Solid

I find this interesting because I've been saying this for a long time. Younger people are NOT watching TV anymore. I think that's true for many older people, too, but I see it mostly between the ages of 18 and 40. These people aren't even bothering to get cable. They stream everything on their phones or devices. Many don't even own TVs anymore. I know that Tony and I rarely watch TV at all anymore. We stream almost everything.

NBC says average viewership on its website and app surged 76% from PyeongChang and 72% from Rio, a reflection of TV viewers’ rapid migration from antennas and cable boxes to computers and cell phones.

This isn't about sex or kink or that kind of dirty. This is about whether or not millennials are physically dirty...as in personal hygiene and the way they keep their living spaces. I can tell you now from the first-hand experience because I rented out a small guest apartment to millennials for over 10 years that the millennials I had as tenants were outright slobs. I'm talking dirty to the point where they never once even cleaned the toilet bowl. After a year, when they would move out, I would have to get into the bathroom with gloves and bleach and a mask just to clean the filthy mess they left. I know when they moved into the apartment it was perfectly clean, and I truly do not believe they cleaned once in a year's time. And I rented to both men and women. Both genders were equally filthy. 

Then there was this. Every so often as a landlord I would have to go up to the apartment and fix a sink or whatever. And never once did I go up and find a neat, clean living space. It was always disgusting. The kitchen counters were always filled with filthy dirty dishes, as well as the sink. The ceramic stovetop was crusted with burned-on food. The oven was splattered with grease and burns. (And it was a self-cleaning oven, too.) The microwave was splattered and splashed. And I doubt any of them washed their towels or sheets for weeks at a time. 

And I'm clearly not the only one wondering about this. There has actually been research done in the UK.

Here's more. If they don't wash their hands you have to wonder about other parts of their bodies that don't get washed. I hate to even think about what's going on in the more private areas. I remember a Twitter trend once where millennials didn't even bother washing their legs in the shower. Oh, and allegedly many don't even use soap.

Here's a good example of the way homophobia can happen anywhere. The last place you would think you'd find homophobia is a place like Beverly Hills.

I'm not going to print his quotes. They're really bad. 

Dermatologist-to-the-stars Dr. Alex Khadavi was allegedly caught on video going on a violent, homophobic tirade. His gay neighbors have filed for a restraining order against him, saying they’re afraid for their lives.
