in an attempt to make myself feel better, i decided to post here some pictures from recent events in my life. :)
tgio - formal dinner 22 Sept Fri.-
Last day of the first half of sem 1! pretty happy. tests over. ibg over. me and my d blk mates:)

we're all in our nice blue kr polo tee and jeans.
tgio - smashing concert by the KRockers. the crazy crowd in the straw hats they made for the d blk rockers :)

pictures from the concert..

there were many great moments. like lin my blk senior and his romantic speech for an undisclosed someone in the crowd (sneaky sneaky!) prior to a rave rendition of I dont wanna miss a thing! i esp like the retro and rock and roll era groups for their songs make me happy and generally wanna dance:) we have an amazing bryan adams sounding senior who did songs like presley's Hounddog and tog with the live band and all, the entire experience was pretty... well, amazing:) tgio mde me feel that i could really, actually learn to appreciate rock. =)
love the finale song All for One! the four male lead vocalists came tog to do this smash. haha it brought back so many feelings from childhood! it was a childhood favourite....during the Bryanadams/Sting period hahaha...i rem those days we had it in cassette.. my dajie studiously listened and copied out the lyrics on foolscap... and i wld listen and sing to it oveer and over..
and lol this was really fun... my funky senior! who brought the china into the rockers ahaha :)

a glimpse of hide's bday surprise :).. right after tgio.. on the floor of the blk rooftop...gorgeous isnt it?

meanwhile i've been contemplating
aromatherapy/ physiotherapy / zhen jiu therapy....
how come no one mentions retail therapy? :P
i get quite unsettled when people ask me So, when? now...
hai.. whining doesnt help i noe.. :P Lotsa things are piling up and waiting... but i will try and be strong.
one day at a time now, one day at a time.
-wiggles my toes- at least i've got them back..heh.
-
i'm developing a heightened awareness of the variations of colour in the diff parts of my foot. like how my last little toe tends to have a slight tinge of pink even when the rest caught an obvious tan in sunlight.
i know becos the sad one never had that tinge until a few days of ice treatment.
how five healthy toes should actually bend to the point of being crunched up. (the sad one allows roughly 45 degrees...and leaves the MIDDLE one kinda like sticking out UPWARDS ahaha. i
swear i'm not hurling abuses at u with my foot.)
haha its becoming qt obsessive i know. all this foot watching. and hoping.
the thing about having part twos.
haha being the lazy me. i think i wont be writing a proper part2 for my sub-blog anymore..
this is going to be a long boring entry filled with my grumbling and complaining ... heh pls be warned. i'm a little under the weather today.
oh well.
quite sick of being on crutches. its my third week i cant believe it. hate the fact that i was overly hopeful earlier..thinking once the cast was removed the worst would over. but days continued to go by rather drearily. sigh.
its mid-sem break! i'm rather happy. survived three tests in the last 3 days of this week.. . and lived t o perform at the voices mini concert on thurs. haha.
last nite was formal dinner and tgio in hall! :) i had a ROCKing good time. i love my kr blue polo tee ahaha and the food and ompany was not bad, really really thankful to hallmates who tolerated my grouchiness... willing to be patient with me as i made my way to events at an incredibly slow pace. always very touched when they make the effort to slow down and walk beside me.
i had the company of my aca seniors at my section of the table in the dining hall for dinner. glen/james/allen! haha minus cherlyn who wld be our sop, we actually make up all the parts in the singing of a song! YES LAH:)
after nice dinner was very fun ROCK concert at the space in front of KR main entrance itself! woohoo. everyone sitting on the floor... standing on the tables.. huddled tog... very nice feeling :) haha i almost had to sit beside the hall profs on the sofa but thankfully ended up with a normal chair phew.
lotsa high moments and indulgently memorable ones...was a great night:)
one of the things we like to do as a blk these days is hold surprise birthday celebrations for blk mates on the rooftop at midnight. Sept is the birthday month la... annabelle to weiting to feli to hide...
very very sweet last night's celeb was. haha planned by victor himself with the help of hide's floor mates :) light sticks.... bubbles (yes we got to blow them!).. 30 dollars worth of frenchfries (hide's fave food)...and of course yummy cake! :D
haha super sweet la.
alright. then this moning was aca prac for I Get A Kick Out of You! very first one with everyone present! woohoo. then home sweet home for the break...
We'll be performing at the Arts Cafe, Esplanade on Wed! 27 Sept sometime btw6-7.30pm :) do come if u like:)
alright going to have dinner.. cooked by my sisters as a belated bday celeb for my mum! yum.
ok take care folks!
Memories Cast in Stone: A Sub-Blog!
"Diary of a One-legged Chicken" - (Part 1)Prologue
1 September 2006, Friday -
Finally, a day without rain . She remembers skipping about each floor and ra-rah-ing people to come down for training. V-ball, V-ball, V-ball. (*repeat in tune of ambulance siren)
The idea sprang into her head, a stroke of inspiration, an innocently random thought.
Little did she know.

V Ball Training
The low spirits that surfaced in the acknowledgement of the depressing turnout were appeased during the course of training. For the first time, she was made to stand in formation and play the real thing. This time, she felt she gained a clearer sense of purpose of her fists and wrists as they found their postion next to each other, as her body crouched low and her eyes followed her opponent's serve. She found that she was actually beginning to like the game, that contrary to what she was led to believe at her first training, she could actually be of some use to the team, when they played next sat.
Hehe. She wouldnt look too unfitting a captain after all.

The fateful catch.
As fate would have it, she stayed on for netball.
All the courts were occupied. They chose the Vball court. Couple of footwork and overhead lobbing exercises later, they could no longer resist the itch to play.
The paremeters were set at half the court, between the two towering lightposts.
Being her pet sport, she had a rollicking good time with her block mates. :)
Forten minutes at least.
She recalls very vividly the very moment it happened. Somehow when she made the leap for the ball, there was a foreboding... somewhere between the boundaries of her conscious and subconscious. In her mind, it was as if a careful recording of the entire landing was taking place for an unknown important purpose.
It was to be a landing she wont forget.
Nasty, Jarring, Near-excruciating (when moved at the wrong places). (pardon us. our femalelead''s being a whiner)
However, she was thankful that memories of the painful shock were accompanied by that of the heartwarming flurry and fluster. haha. She pities the senior who beared her horrific weight on his back along the distance of the walkway to the carpark from the courts. Block mates who tolerated her smelly shoe and feet, hydrated her tired being with humourous banter, rejuvenated her weary senses by being rave companions in front of her colour tv set and warmed a dejected heart with the constant supply of ice cubes delivered with warmth and zeal.
:)

The Aftermath.
A few whines and bawls over the mobile phone to knowing parents later, she was somewhat pacified.
For the night, she becomes a hopping presence on her floor. Suddenly becomes quite aware of the distance between room and toilet, and the resonating capabilities of the corridor walls. From the looks of relief on the faces of people she met in the toilet, she wished she could have sounded less like KingKong on the way to the toilet.
She showers one-legged only to find she cant wear her pants at the end. Struck with the realisation that it's one of the many nitty-gritty things she was going to have to adjust to for a while.
Swelling appears on opposite side of Original Big Bump as well and girl and good medical fren were scared but prepared to rely on yao4jiu3 and Salonpas for the night.
It turned out to be a long night. Leg propped up on stack of clothes..literally having to sleep straight like a mummy.
Heard the distant call for players and supporters for touch rugby carnival in the morning. She lay in bed feeling quite sad at the sight of the bumps and sensation of sore-numbness in her foot. Dang it was the one match she knew they would shine at. (And as she later found out, they did.=D)
Decided to end the rough night at about 9am.. woke up to a quiet hall. To minimise hopping, her notion of packing became an act of leaving her luggage wide open in the center of the room and throwing the relevant items in, in a relatively organised fashion, as much as possible. haha.
Darling of a neighbour was still around so she could help transport her and her luggage down... :) parents and sis here! hurray. Negotiated the crazy winding roads and signs of nus and finally found nuh.
Whisked in on a wheelchair. Her left foot stuck out precariously and she learnt she had to put complete faith in the pusher to avoid further fatal collisions. Faith is never enough though she found, when you had an elder sis for a pusher who found amusement in enacting a series of near-collisions with various people/objects she encountered along the corridor.
:P

The birth of the One-Legged Chicken
She found herself wired to machines.. fascinated by how the crocodile clip on her index finger could measure heart rate. Coupl e of Pain tests later (eww), X-ray shots were taken of her foot, at angles and poses she never imagined possible.
Finally, the diagnosis came: a small bone had been pushed out by a torn tendon. (whatever that means.)
And so the verdict was cast.
(getitgetit?-grin-)
For ten days at least, til the orthopaedic looks at it again.
She;s got an MC for five days starting SAT :(:( ("You should still go for lessons," says Mr. suspected-NUS Medicine Grad).
In the meantime she'll be learning to walk again.

more on the pink toe and its perpetrator in Part 2. :)
