Jane Eyre

Okay - so this is one of my favorite books, so obviously I have seen all the movie versions. This is one movie that I think keeps getting better. My ranking of these versions goes from newest to oldest starting with Masterpiece Theater's version with Toby Stephens.

My second favorite would be with Ciaran Hinds - very romantic, but also slightly overdramatic so you really have to be in the right mood! Of course, part of the reason I like this one might have to do with the fact that I absolutely love Ciaran Hinds in Persuasion (but that is for another post).

New Poll

So, I completely adore movies based on classic novels. There are so many different versions out there, I decided to add a poll to see which is the favorite version. Plus it gives me a chance to discuss each movie! :) Hopefully this will also give some good ideas for your next movie choice!

The poll is posted on the side - you can answer the questions and then please add a comment to the blog post discussing that novel.

I just had to post these adorable pictures. A friend from Russia that is now living in Provo just had a baby on Friday - I can't wait to see him!

At the cabin

When Dan got home from his mission the family went to our cabin for a week of family fun!

We don't have a firepit - so we roasted marshmellows over the bbq

Dan quickly adjusted to a life of ease :)

More Europe Pictures

Here are more pictures from my trip to Europe

In Belgium with my parents and my Uncle Joe

A hilarious statue in Brussels - notice the many tourists that come just to see the statue of the Manekin Piss - seriously a little boy going to the bathroom - and this is what people go to Brussels to see.

On a bike ride in the nature preserve in Holland

Our hotel in Rothenburg Germany

I am very proud of this picture - it is Neuschwanstein Castle - taken from a scary old bridge over a very large ravine! I was slightly terrified - but the picture turned out great! :)

At a rest stop in Switzerland we stopped to have a little picnic lunch here.

At the flower auction in Holland - this is just a miniscule portion of the all the flowers they had there - the tour of the building seriously took 2 hours and the entire place is just full of flowers! It was beautiful!

On the dikes in Holland - the wind was crazy!

At the flower festival in Holland (Hooray for tulips!)

At The Hague Temple (in the Netherlands)

A hilarious park in Duisburg, Germany (my sister's favorite city). It is an old industrial complex - you go and climb all over all the old equipment - it got pretty high and I don't do well with heights!

Last but not least - okay so this city really is a little crazy - in a parking lot in Duisburg - it seriously had waves and seagulls playing on the sound system!

Trip to Europe

My sister served a mission in the Germany Frankfurt Mission. Last year (April 2007) I went with my parents to pick her up. It was so great to see her and have some just the two of us time - as I was her companion for the trip. It was a crazy, wonderful two week trip - full of adventures and getting lost! We started in Brussels, Belgium, then drove to Holland to visit some of my parents friends from my Dad's mission. Then finally it was time to drive to Germany to get Lauren. We spent a few days wandering around Germany - concluding with a whirlwind road trip - 5 countries in one day (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and France). Then it was back to Holland to visit the annual flower festival - hooray for Tulips!! Then back to Germany for some shopping - I am praying an H&M comes to Salt Lake soon!! And sadly back to the real world. Here are a couple of pictures from the trip. I will post more when I am on my other computer.

At Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany (a beautiful castle built into a mountain - it was the model for Sleeping Beauty's castle in Disneyland)

At the Frankfurt, Germany temple. Lauren spent a few months here on her mission so she knew a lot of the cute senior missionaries serving there when we did a session. Then she gave us the grand tour.

At the Hulleman's home in Holland. They are SO much fun! We love visiting with them.
