taking flight

This one is my favorite so far.  I was inspired by this.  It started with a few 99 cent fat quarters in black, white, and gray from Joann's. I was just going to practice with the flying geese ruler from "Quilt in a Day".

I had so much fun using the ruler that the practice started turning into a quilt.  Then I decided it needed another color so when I went back for more fat quarters I added a few oranges and reds.

The back took me almost an entire day to sort out.  I love pieced backs and am surprised at how long they take me.  The big piece of orange is from the DS line, also at Joann's.  It reminded me of chicken scratch so had the fowl connection.

Look who I found peeking out of the melting snow!

Taking a rest here...yep, this one is my favorite!

Oh, and I can't wait to hear those Canada geese migrating back for the season!!!

On Track

It's been such a cold winter but today the sun is shining and I'm thinking summertime.

I made this last summer with a small jelly roll I found on sale.  The pattern is from Cluck Cluck Sew.  (Find it here.)  She calls it Off Track, but it was one of the first quilts I made and it got me On Track!

I used the leftovers in jelly roll race fashion for the back.

It won't be long till we're watering flowers again!

Update:  Better camera = better pictures.

 So we braved the cold!

Beginnings

I'm calling this Beginnings because I made it in January for a new (first) baby.  The couple chose to be surprised and guess what they had?  After a shower of green and yellow I wanted to made something with a bit of pink.

Love the little swirling mat for squaring up the blocks.

This was from a bundle I purchased last summer from Cuts of Cotton.  I love their bundles!

The back is a single piece of Minky...so cozy!

I hope she grows up loving it!
