the problem with my career in Singapore...

... is that people don't understand the world I was in in Silicon Valley, and where I want to head.

I am an innovator;
Learning to be a CEO.

I have to be in a right place to deepen my innovator skills, meanwhile use the environment to learn to be a CEO.

Today is July 10th 2009

I will be leaving Bay Area tomorrow for good, on a 130pm flight.

Feeling a little sentimental. Afterall, this is a place that started my entrepreneurial and spiritual journey. I would say most of the big experiences I have for the past 5 years are here.

Hopefully if I have time after the final packing and admin, I will be able to blog more of my thoughts.

You don't build a wall alone

Last weekend was labor day long weekend. What started out as a thought of helping out a friend, Michael who has been struggling to work on a build alone for the past weekends, turned into a group of 9 who did not mind driving 3hrs to north of Napa early Saturday morning to help a friend in need (some stayed for a 2nd day, more came the day after) for the day.

Was very encouraged and amazed to see the number of people (many who don't even know Mike before this trip) who responded after knowing Michael was in need of help on his real estate business affected by the US economy.

Was very warmed by the exceedingly wonderful dinner and hospitality offer by Michael's parents at their house at the end of the day.

Certainly some thing we all should experience more in a foreign land like Silicon Valley.

You don't build a wall alone: Nehemiah 3:1-32
If one falls his friend helps him up: Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim

Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the eyes of His glory and grace

There is a time for everything. And the time has come.

The day for me to fly back to SV finally came on the 4th Feb 2007. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't delay my departure date to attend Hanhui's wedding.

Leaving Singapore to return to Silicon Valley was very different this time round. It is different visiting another country as a tourist, versus staying there for a few years. Now i say it is also different exploring another country knowing when you'll return home, versus going on a one-way ticket.

All the farewell meetups, cards and gifts I had before I left truly warmed my heart. A big THANK YOU to all of you. Sincere appreciation and a tribute to you all.

Today is Mar 17th 2007, My 41st day back in SV

I'm sitting in a cafe call Le Boulanger at downtown Mountain View, enjoying the free Google WiFi (Google is situated in MV and they've wired the entire city with free WiFi), while sipping my coffee by a window seat under the bright California afternoon sun.

This is my 41st day back in US/SV.

Finally managed to find some time to sit down to update the blog.

My sincere appreciation to all your well wishes / emails / msns / sms / farewell at the airport / gifts for the past month.

I feel bad for not being able to respond as promptly or as comprehensively to all of your messages as I would like. My first month here has been pretty hectic, partly due to settling down with car, accomodation, daily living, partly due to growing responsibilities in the startup and my CEO's effort in "seamlessly" plugging me into action ever since Day One.

I shall commit the next few entrees to update you guys on the past 41 days.
