Planning for the next holiday

$48 to HK and $68 to Taipei. 13,000 tickets available. Gee, what margin did the rest of the dominant airlines were working on. After much thought (right not really, I already wanna go, cheap air tickets just affirm it), I decide to click the "book" button. So here I am, on my way to to Taipei on 31 MArch.

I am getting a reputation as the "budget air queen" from some of my frens already.

Walking Lollipop

These days, I felt like a walking lolly. My head is larger and heavier than it should. I think the weather is taking a toll on me. I even took half a day off to get medication. However, I need to brace myself to be present at a customer appreciation Lunch over at our venue.

Again. One of those mingling sessions that you gotta smile and be exxxtra friendly to all those unfamiliar faces. This time round, it is much easier as we are the host. However, my boss was not around during the cocktail session and some of her clients turned up. The most quesy thing is that some of them are alone. I am then enthroned to the ONE to say Hi to all of her clienst and my existing ones.

One decent-looking Mr Dentist was pacing around at the registration counter hoping that some of his counterparts would turn up. His hopes were crashed and he was standing beside the pillar most of the time. Seeing this, I made my way there, giving him my megawatt smile, hoping to make him feel more comfortable in a strange environment. Half of the converstaion, I couldnt make out what he was saying as he was barely audible. I was leaning so close to him that he must thought I was intruding his personal space.

Moving to Ms Insurance, they are awfully nice till I found out that she was the person who complained about food the last time. Ms MLM brought her new colleague and she is still very engaging and fun to chat with. Getting a bit restless, I moved on Ms Stepboard and partner. They seemed to be the only Stepboard around and they were finding a ground in the venue and looking forward to hear the developments of the center. Managed to say Hi to Mr Landscape and he was pushing very hard for us to use them their plants. Mr Charity love the function room and have thoughts about having their functions here.

During lunch there were more yak yak yak with more people. Smiling and greeting people and clients that I have made over the year. LO HEI is the most decent (reads clean) over this year as everyone is all dressed up, afraid to dirty their new suits.

After the event my shoulders are red and sore from all the "shoulders rubbing" and namecard holders filled with cards that I could not remember half of their names.

*conclusion: Wear thick shoulder pads when you go on a social function and smile at everyone

The Joy of Woking in Action

Of late, I have been finding difficulty in Finding Joy at Work. I came across "The Joy of Working inAction". Maybe this will push me to search joy within.

1. Always greet your co-workers, boss, subordinates with a smile. As simple as it sounds, we often fail to do so. Successful people almost always smile at the people they come across at work

2. Smile with your voice when answering phone or placing calls. This simple practice underscores that a person of value is calling

3. Alwas say "Thank you" when you are praised at work. There is no need to belittle or play down your achievements, no need to either elaborate of fish for further praise.

4. You dont have to wear the labels others try to give you. If you are needlessly belittled, ridiculed, recognised that this is not a failure on your part but as ignorance and lack of self esteem on the part of other person.

4. Stay away from 'pity parties' or 'gripe sessions'- it is actually climbing aboard a sinking ship. Surround yourself with happy people and enjoy their work. People with self-esteem seemed to radiate to others

Amazing!! Unforgettable Bday Celeb Posted by Hello

Language of Love

Friday was dinner at Supreme court. I never knew that there would be function rooms in Supreme Court to do anything except trial. I felt extremely privilege when I learned that we had the last function in that room as they would be undergoing renovation. Dinner was not what I imagined it to be. Although we have excessive cutlery to work through the 4 course fine dining, the setting was not exactly what I I knew as fine dining. Nevertherless, I enjoyed myself. A speaker presented the language of love that speaks to me.

1) Language of Communication
Human beings need to be told that they are loved. Although we know that the other love us, we need to be reminded coz we are always forgetful
2) Language of touch
The power of a hug is unexplainable. Endorphins are released when we are comforted and given a warm hug. Guess why we always need a hug when we are upset?
3) Language of listening
Why do we always not know what our partner really wants? We fail to listen. When realised that we always do not know what to buy for V-Day and Bday, there is one thing that is so evident. We do not hear what they wants

Three simple Language of Love. Why are we communication retards?

Last one Standing

Last One Standing- Urs truely is the one that is last one standing in Singapore Expo. Gone are another batch of colleagues. People that are left are the long standing ones that would never leave their job and the new blood who are still glazed on to their new jobs.

Many have moved on to greener pastures, some decide to further to decide their studies and there are some who moved on to more exciting things that will come. In all, everyone has moved on. Alarm starts to ring on whether have I still remain in status quo. No radical changes, no excitment and still in the rut? The thought of it shudders me. The panick button was pushed when another closer colleague tendered.

I have lost count the number of times when I say (with much gusto) that I would update my resume. Nope. I am still guilty of not doing it. So what is holding me back? Plain laziness. Oh well I shall update tmrw. I have the whole afternoon to do it. Dont I?
