These days, I felt like a walking lolly. My head is larger and heavier than it should. I think the weather is taking a toll on me. I even took half a day off to get medication. However, I need to brace myself to be present at a customer appreciation Lunch over at our venue.
Again. One of those mingling sessions that you gotta smile and be exxxtra friendly to all those unfamiliar faces. This time round, it is much easier as we are the host. However, my boss was not around during the cocktail session and some of her clients turned up. The most quesy thing is that some of them are alone. I am then enthroned to the ONE to say Hi to all of her clienst and my existing ones.
One decent-looking Mr Dentist was pacing around at the registration counter hoping that some of his counterparts would turn up. His hopes were crashed and he was standing beside the pillar most of the time. Seeing this, I made my way there, giving him my megawatt smile, hoping to make him feel more comfortable in a strange environment. Half of the converstaion, I couldnt make out what he was saying as he was barely audible. I was leaning so close to him that he must thought I was intruding his personal space.
Moving to Ms Insurance, they are awfully nice till I found out that she was the person who complained about food the last time. Ms MLM brought her new colleague and she is still very engaging and fun to chat with. Getting a bit restless, I moved on Ms Stepboard and partner. They seemed to be the only Stepboard around and they were finding a ground in the venue and looking forward to hear the developments of the center. Managed to say Hi to Mr Landscape and he was pushing very hard for us to use them their plants. Mr Charity love the function room and have thoughts about having their functions here.
During lunch there were more yak yak yak with more people. Smiling and greeting people and clients that I have made over the year. LO HEI is the most decent (reads clean) over this year as everyone is all dressed up, afraid to dirty their new suits.
After the event my shoulders are red and sore from all the "shoulders rubbing" and namecard holders filled with cards that I could not remember half of their names.
*conclusion: Wear thick shoulder pads when you go on a social function and smile at everyone
