An update on the kids..

Hey everyone! Here's a quick update for those of you who are keeping track. I took Makenna and Spencer to the doctor this past Tuesday to see how they were doing. Makenna's lungs sounded clear. YEAH! So, they gave her shots. (She has needed them this past month but has been too sick to get them). Spencer still sounded pretty yucky. The doctor ordered us some oxygen to use at nights to see if that helped him to sleep. He's sleeping pretty good now though. Still sounds a little congested, but hopefully another day or two and he will be fine. I have to take him to the doctor again sometime towards the end of this week so he can get his two month shots. Carter is doing good too. Yesterday we cleaned our whole house top to bottom and I scrubbed every single toy one by one. It was quite the job. Deb (Reed's mom) came over to watch the kids so Reed and I could both clean and it still took all day! -thanks Deb!

I also have an appointment with Spencer for a craniofacial surgeon down at Primary Children's Hospital on March 31st. We are going to talk to him about what surgeries Spencer needs to receive and when the process would all start. I am actually looking forward to it. I think it will be very informative. Anyway, love you all!

A trip to the hospital....

This is a picture of Makenna in her "cage". We had quite the adventure a week and a half ago. Makenna was really sick on Monday and Tuesday and just wasn't getting better. She was very tired and had a nasty cough and was having trouble breathing. On Wednesday, February 24th I took her to the doctor. She sounded yucky and they said she had bronchialitis mostly likely caused by RSV. They also did a chest X-ray because one side of her lungs sounded worse then the other one. Sure enough, she had pneumonia as well. Her oxygen was really low and they said we needed to get her to the hospital to put her on oxygen and give her antibiotics through an IV. Also, she was really dehydrated too and she needed fluid.....

Here is Makenna with her IV, her oxygen, and her oxometer (I think that's how you spell it). Her fever was at 103 almost the whole time in the hospital. She kept getting worse before she got better and it was a horrible experience. I stayed with Makenna almost the whole time and Reed stayed with the two boys at home. We didn't want them to come to the hospital and get sick too. There was one night that we switched because we both needed a break. We ended up staying in the hospital until Sunday, February 28th. Her final diagnosis was RSV with a secondary pneumonia. Lucky girl...but it gets even more exciting....

This is the room at the hospital. Pretty small for what you pay. :) After Makenna came home, Carter got really sick this past Monday and we took him to the doctor on Tuesday. Sure enough, RSV as well. Breathing treatments have really helped him though, so no hospital visit there. Yesterday Spencer started getting really yucky sounding and we took him to the doctor this morning...RSV as well. So far Spencer is well enough to do suctioning and breathing treatments at home and doesn't have to go to the hospital right now. We just have to watch him close, but Reed and I are getting really good at taking care of RSV kiddos. With Spencer they gave us an oxometer so we can measure his oxygen at home. So...now we have our own RSV clinic. :) I just have to smile because it's easier than crying. We are exhausted! Anyway, just thought I would let you all know the excitement of our last two weeks. I used two bottles of lysol spray these last two weeks and my hands are bleeding from washing them so much, but still somehow, all of them got sick. :(
