Another Fun Trip to the Zoo

We had quite the week with both kids being sick and Caleb having seizures (scary, but he is ok). This all lead to a week of no sleep and being couped up for all of us. Both kids were feeling better by Saturday so we decided with the beautiful weather that it was time to get out of the house and take the kids back up to the zoo. It was such a fun day! Caleb was so excited to see all the animals and probably even more excited to be out of the house. The weather was perfect!! And both Caleb and Bailey had such a fun time. Caleb was a little bummed that the cougars weren't out but seeing Cosmo up there made up for it. We even ran into my good friend Whitney and her family. It was great to see them! All in all, it was a great day and a much needed day!

Checking out the elephants

The tiger got up and came right down to the window for several minutes.
Blurry picture. But it is a baby monkey(the little white thing) with its mommy. It was so cute.

The Big One

One, I can't believe our little girl is one. I don't have a "baby" anymore. The time went by so fast. How quickly they grow up. Bailey was in a hurry to come to us. Her arrival is still such a blur to me. It all happened so fast. I woke up at 1:45am when my water broke. I started having contractions immediately and boy were they intense. I knew I was in trouble when I immediately felt the need to push. Thanks to daddy's speedy driving we barely made it to the hospital to push her out and have her at 2:26am. What a joy you have been to our little family Bailey. I wasn't sure about doing the girl thing, but man do I love it. You are a sassy and tough little thing already. I am so happy to have my little girl. On Wednesday morning, we woke up and Bailey opened up her 1st stroller and baby that daddy picked out for her. She loved it! She plays with it all the time and even understands how to put the baby in her stroller. Daddy had to jet off to school but Caleb and I made chocolate chip pancakes. After she napped I took Bailey and Caleb to get some lunch and then we went to the park for a picnic and play time. Caleb was so cute with her all day. He was so excited that it was her birthday. He sang to her all day (in which she would dance and point to herself) . She had many phone calls and cousins that sang happy birthday. Thank you so much to all who called and wished her a happy birthday. Bailey knew it was a a special day. We had everyone over to our house on Friday night for cake and ice cream. It was close to Bailey's bedtime (she goes down at 7) and she wasn't feeling very well so she didn't last long. Thanks so much for everyone that came. Bailey got some great gifts and we appreciated all the love and support from you all. Happy 1st Birthday Princess!!! We love you so so much!!!

Tidbits on Bailey:

Bailey LOVES to eat real food. She is so opposite of Caleb when it comes to eating. She enjoys and tries just about everything. She especially loves mommy's spaghetti. Some other favorites are filled raviolis, yogurts, goldfish, cinnamon french toast sticks, and.........really like I said pretty much anything placed in front of her, she will shovel it in.

Bailey has taken a few steps by herself, but nothing big yet. She will walk if someone is holding her hand or if she is pushing or holding onto something.

Bailey has 8 teeth.

Bailey is a tough cookie. She already wrestles with Caleb and Tommy. She will crawl up to Caleb and head butt him and try to push him over. It is so funny.

Bailey loves the water and loved going swimming at Grandma and Grandpa's this summer. She now has to settle for the bath :)

Bailey loves to dance (well more like bob) to any music that she hears. She loves to play with any phone and mimics talking on them all the time. It is so cute!!!

Bailey loves to play with "or bug" her big brother Caleb.

I Will Never Forget....

Can you believe it has been 7 years??? I will never forget that day, I was home sick and woke up to turn on the Price is Right and instead saw coverage of the twin towers. I remember calling my dad and Tommy crying to see if they had heard. It was a scary feeling. Why would someone do this to us? What else was planned? I was glued to the tv all day as I watched and listened to coverage. So many innocent people lost there lives that day. So many heroes. I always picture those men and women in the twin towers rushing and fighting down those stairs to reach freedom, to reach "safe" ground and all those men and women with badges and carrying hoses that were running and scrambling in the opposite direction to reach those in need of help, without thinking twice. No one knew what was in store, No one knew those towers would fall but they didn't hesitate. What heroism. And to the people aboard those flights, we will never know what truly happened on those flights, but I can only imagine the fear and the courage. Some say we have kept it alive, and kept it alive too long, reopening wounds and reliving tragedy. Others afraid it will revert to just another day on the calendar. The fact is that September 11th happened, it is know apart of our history as the United States and as the world. Maybe the memorials and tributes will die down but I do not feel it is a day that should ever be forgotten. Tommy and I were able to visit ground zero and it is an experience I will never forget. It is amazing to be there and be surrounded by so many people, the busy new york life yet complete silence and respect. It was humbling to visit the cathedral right across the street from the twin towers (which was COMPLETELY untouched) and to walk inside and see all the pictures, tributes and memorials to those men and woman who lost there lives that day. I can not imagine the pain of those family and friends that lost there loved ones that day. I am so grateful to have all my family and friends safe, to know we as Americans have come so far from that horrific day, that we have men and woman serving our country and protecting us, risking there lives day in and day out. I am forever grateful and I will continue to remember and pay respects for those lives lost on September 11th.

Game Day

Football season has officially begun. We love this time of year!!! All of us attending the game met around 1:30 to tailgate in the parking lot before heading into the game. Of course it was the hottest day all week, go figure. Despite the heat, we all had a fun time. It was Bailey's 1st BYU football game and she did really well considering the heat and it was her nap time. She enjoyed clapping along with everyone, even though I am not sure she always understood why she was clapping. She also loved throwing her hands up to signal a touchdown. Trained already :) Caleb was in heaven, 4:00 could not have come slower for him. He was so excited and had so much fun watching the game (and seeing Cosmo)!!! He continues to sing the fight song all day long and ask when the next game is. I am so happy to be back at the games this year. I only made it to one home game last year before Bailey was born. It is sooo much better to be at the game in person. We beat Northern Iowa 41-17. I can hardly wait for the next home game.

Poor Grandpa bought an icee and then got attacked by all the grandkids.
