Welcome to the Royal Texans Blog

The Royal Texans blog is all about our family and the people we love. It's a little crazy being a Mommy of two lil' guys, but I eventually post everything so check back often for updates on Oliver and Miles!

The last of the fall leaves

So today Clayton, Oliver & Miles raked up the rest of our maple leaves and put them in bags to be composted by the city. I LOVED Miles in this hat so I tried, and tried, and tried to get a cute picture. Hard when your little guy doesn't like to cooperate! Also, there are some cute videos attached of them in their truck.

This is his face when I ask him to smile

very thoughtful

blowing his nose (he makes a really cute sound when he does it too)

scowl

look a plane

now signing plane

Love, love, love this picture!

Do you need a drink Mommy?

And last, this one makes me think of my mom. My mom used to love to do this to babies...I don't know if there is a special name for it, but you move your tongue back and forth of your top teeth and go ladaladlalad. Miles learned the trick this weekend and I just LOVE watching him do it! :)

Thankful Thanksgiving Eve Post

It is finally fall here: The temperatures have dropped, and the leaves are changing on most of the trees. It's beautiful and we love it. We took a walk today and collected fall leaves and sticks to make a fall wreath while we are waiting for our turkey tomorrow. We got lots of great leaves and we had an educating time exploring leaves in their different stages of drying. After we had collected enough leaves, we went to the park and played. Miles and Oliver both LOVE swinging, but unfortunately at this park the big boy swings and the baby swings are quite a distance away from each other. Oliver humored me a bit and swang in the baby swings for a little while so he could stay near us, but that lasted for about eight pushes. Miles followed Oliver around on the playground and tried out all the slides which he also loves doing. Finally, Oliver made his way over the the big boy swings and Miles of course wanted to follow. (Here is the reason for the Thankful post title) For some reason, I thought (or rather didn't think) that it would be okay for Miles to swing on a big boy swing if I just pushed him really slow and low. Well I got distracted looking at Oliver for one second and when I looked back Miles was heading for the gravel head first. I instantly grabbed him up and he just sobbed and sobbed in my arms. He hold on to me so tight and I just knew he must have been terrified. Poor baby; I felt SOOO bad! In one of the videos below I asked Miles if babies should swing in big boy swings shortly after he fell and he vehemently shook his head. Anyway, he is fine and I am so GRATEFUL for that!

This is Miles swinging in the baby swing as he should be! Love this boy!

My cute fruit bowl overflowing with goodness for yummy recipes!

He is so cute! This is the Lincoln Log village we built during Mile's nap today. I am so thankful this little guy is such a good big brother. After spending almost an hour building this, he was totally fine to let his little brother play with it and potentially knock it down. I am also thankful that he and I share a love for swinging. See the videos below to see his sweet swinging skills:

I'm so fortunate to have these boys in my life and their Daddy too. After the park Clayton met us at Sprouts so I could do some shopping in the madness. It's the little things that make my life easier! :) Happy Thanksgiving to you!

Oliver's Birthday Play Date

Oliver turned 5 over a month ago now, but unfortunately we were unable to get together with his friend Jordan until now. After a few cancelled play dates, Jordan and his Mommy Heather made it to our house on Monday afternoon. We decorated train cakes, played with trains, worked on train mosaics and really enjoyed their company. Here are some of the pictures that turned out cute! :)

Thanksgiving Crafts

We've been having a fun few days with some Thanksgiving crafts.

Cute Cousin Robynn asked us to come over on Wednesday morning to make these darling turkeys. Tatia & Penny and Brooklyn & Addison were there as well and we had a great time painting turkeys and sharing yummy grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. Fortunately we had this painted pumpkin that worked perfectly with our painted turkey. So cute! Thanks again for inviting us Robynn! :)

Thursday Oliver had a Thanksgiving Feast at school and his Maestras made these darling costumes for the class.

Oliver even let Miles join in the fun, I think this was the first picture Miles has actually cooperated for in weeks.

Oliver stayed home from school sick today and we spent a large portion of our day doing Thanksgiving crafts. I didn't take any pictures until after dinner when Daddy was home, and I thought they turned out cute!

Look at that Daddy adoring his little guy. What a lucky little family we are! :)

Miles and Me

Most of you know how much I cherished the time Oliver and I spent together before our sweet little baby Miles came into our lives. We had so much fun together and I knew that if we were to have another child I would want it as close to what I had with Oliver as possible, so we waited almost four years before we had Miles. For the last few months of having Oliver in preschool three days/week, Miles and I have had so much fun together and just today it was like Deja va playing out in the leaves with just Miles and having him get to know Oliver's beloved truck that he has played with for years and still loves. I ♥ spending time with my little guy!

Miles has absolutely no interest in looking at the camera when I am trying to take a picture

But I still think these are cute, I guess they are more candid

And after about 15 seconds of cooperating, he is done. This is his get me out of these leaves now pose.

Clayton and I ♥♥♥ Miles curls and are reluctant to get rid of them, but sooner than later they will have to come off if people keep calling him a girl.

I know I have tons of pictures of Oliver pushing this truck around just like this so I couldn't resist snapping some of Miles!

The leaves are really falling now. It won't be long and the trees will be bare of leaves.

He loved it when I sat him in here and pushed him down the street. So much fun to be had with a $15 truck! :)

Silly Turkeys Round 2

Last year we made darling candy turkeys. They were so cute and EASY, and I felt like Oliver could fully participate and he couldn't wait to make them again this year.

This is a picture of last year's turkeys and here is a link to last year's blog post with more pictures.

So we picked up a recipe book at the check stand last week that had even cuter Silly Turkeys on them. They looked a little more complicated, but we decided to go for it. Unfortunately, there were certainly not as easy and Oliver didn't feel like he was able to participate as much and therefore they were not as fun. Or maybe I just wasn't as fun making them with him, that is possible too. Anyway, here is the result:

They didn't turn out as cute as the ones on the recipe book. I think we will go back to the more simple recipe if we make them again next year.

But I do think my little guy is even CUTER this year, if it is possible! :) I can't believe how big he is getting!

We had so much fun this Sunday raking and jumping in the leaves. Our neighbors came over to join in the fun too!
