WWE Superstars Naomi

I recently purchased this WWE Superstars Naomi doll. I was eager to add her to my collection because of her muscular body and her articulation. Here is a look at the doll inside of her package (front and back of the package pictured below).

The doll comes with two outfits and two pairs of shoes. She can stand without assistance in her shoes. She did not remain in her packaging for long.

Warning: doll nudity ahead. Here is a look at Naomi's muscular, yet feminine frame. She has articulation at the elbows, wrists, and knees. She is a highly posable doll. She has molded on flesh colored panties. She has feet made for high heeled shoes (or boots in this case).

I wanted to see if she could do splits. This is as far as she can go.

She looks good in a seated position, and she can cross her lower legs.

Her outfit above is inspired by her look inside the ring. She also comes with a second fashion, meant to show her versatile style. She looks great in both outfits, and I am pleased with the quality of her clothing and boots.

Her she is compared to other dolls in my collection. She is thicker than a standard Barbie and Fashion Royalty doll. She is not as thick as curvy Barbie or Fresh Dolls.

As much as Naomi likes hanging out with the other ladies and talking about fashion, her passion is wrestling. No worries, she has found some friends who also like to fight.

Elijah Burke wanted to test her right from the start. She tried to warn him that he would end up flat on his back.

Sometimes you can show a person better than you can tell them.

But it's all in good fun. They are all professionals and know how to take a fall.

Naomi is having a blast with her new friends, and looks forward to throwing them around the ring every chance she gets.

Overall, I am very pleased with this doll. I love the fact that this body is different than standard Barbie bodies, and that a more muscular frame is being represented here. I am also pleased with the articulation of the doll. I am happy to have Naomi in my collection.

Gabby Douglas Barbie

Here is my video review of the Gabby Douglas Barbie doll.

Gabby displays beautifully in her box. I got so excited creating the video that I forgot to take a photo of her while she was still in the box. But, the video captures those images.

Gabby is a beautiful, fully articulated doll. The doll bears a strong resemblance to the real Gabby Douglas. Here's a closeup.

I am thrilled that Mattel has chosen to honor Gabby Douglas by creating a doll in her likeness. Gabby shares some inspiring words on the back of the doll box.

Gabby uses the same body as Made to Move Barbie. Her articulation is great, and she poses easily and smoothly, and is able to hold her poses. She can stand without assistance, even without her shoes.

Gabby wears her signature stars and stripes leotard under a Nike warm-up suit with sneakers. She also comes with a doll stand.

With elbows and knees that are double jointed, she is able to strike some impressive poses.

I love the fact that she can wear flat shoes or shoes with heels.

Gabby is a beautiful collectible doll, but she is sturdy enough to withstand child's play as well. She is great for both children and adults alike.

Here she is with some of her new friends.

Gabby is the first one of my dolls to drive this car that my sister gave to me.

Overall, I am very impressed with the Gabby Douglas Barbie doll. One thing that I found very noticeable is that her head is lighter than her body. Also, her hair has a crimped appearance except for one small section in the back of her head. I find these things a little distracting, but I'm still very happy with the doll.

I viewed this doll on Target's website, and is it just me or does that one look slightly different than this one? And it doesn't appear to have the lighter colored head. I wonder if there is a difference?
 Good-bye for now!

Small Scale Articulation

I purchased an articulated Blythe doll body (the dark skin version).

My apologies to all of you Blythe lovers out there, but I do not know much about Blythe. I think that Takara manufactures this body, but I'm not sure. There are no markings on the body. I tried to do some research to find out more, but I got bored and my eyes started to glaze over after just a little while.  I don't know if this is an Azone or Pure Neemo or what, I just know that I wanted this articulated body. I don't want the huge Blythe head. Another one of my dolls will use this body.

When removing this doll from the box, I was very glad to see that the skin tone is pretty much exactly what I expected from the photos on the advertisements. I was especially pleased after recent purchases where the figure that I received was not as dark as advertised.

I was also glad to see that the dark skin tone would match several of the dolls in my collection. The body feels very sturdy and is heavier than other dolls this size. She is a little bit taller than Juku Couture dolls, and about the same height as Wee Three Friends dolls.

Because of the immobility of the neck connector, any head that I put on this body will be able to move side to side, but not up and down. She has good mobility in her arms and shoulders. Her range of motion is somewhat limited at the elbows. Her upper arms swivel. Her hands rotate. There are several sets of hands that can be purchased for this doll, but I'm not interested in the various hand gestures. It would be nice to have a relaxed set of hands, though.

Her waist twists from side to side. Her legs will part slightly. Her legs rotate at the upper thigh. The range of motion at her knees is somewhat limited. Because of her ankle articulation, she can wear flat shoes, or shoes with a slight heel. She can kneel. She can also sit flat on the floor. She looks good posing in a seated position, and she can cross her lower legs.

This doll is small in stature, so I definitely wanted to give her a head with a youthful appearance. I have an extra Juku Couture Kana head, but the head has a tiny hole for the neck connector and would not fit without permanent modification. The neck connector for the Blythe body is Barbie sized.

The closest skin tone match to the Blythe body is probably my tan Momoko doll.  Momoko already has an articulated body and she's adorable on that body, so I was not about to rebody her. If I'm ever in possession of another tan Momoko head though, I'll probably put that head on this body.

I purchased this body hoping that it would be a good match for my Barbie Crazy for Coral Petite Fashionistas doll. My petite doll was not thrilled about that idea. She wasn't sure if she wanted to give up what height she does have in favor of articulation.

She's a decent skin tone match. My petite doll started to warm up to the idea.

It's a done deal. My petite doll is now more petite than ever! Her head looks slightly oversized on this body, though.

But she is thrilled with her ability to strike different poses!

Even though she is now the same height as the tweens and young teens in my collection, she is quick to remind them that she is actually a little older than they are.

She still likes hanging out with her old friends.

The teen guys all still think she's cute.

My overall impression is that this is a good quality doll at a reasonable price. The joints are not very attractive, though. It's particularly noticeable and not aesthetically pleasing to me when I rotate her arms or legs, and the parts above and below the point of articulation do not appear to line up properly. I will find this doll something to wear that covers her body more.

I am very happy with this purchase, and look forward to posing her for many years to come.

Here is my video review of this body.

Having these dolls out reminded me of something that I've been meaning to do for a while.

I got Liv Daniela from the thrift store last year with one purpose in mind: to give one of my dolls an articulated body. Now Sharpay is posing much better!

Justin Bieber approves of Sharpay's transformation. I think that these two are going to be singing a lot of duets together.
