Dolls For My Birthday

Today is my birthday! I've been blessed with another year of life, and I am extremely grateful to be here!

While I'm here, I'm going to celebrate!

I'm going to enjoy all of the gifts that this life has to offer!

And I'm going to treat myself to stuff that I want!

Well, I want a lot of things, but I'll stay on topic here and limit this post to dolls. I've ordered several, hoping that some would arrive on my special day, and they did, so I've had a good time opening my gifts from me to me. Here are my recent arrivals.

A couple of new guys arrived nude - a Ken and an action figure guy. I'll probably attempt my first Ken head swap soon.

American Teen Anthoney has arrived. I already have two American Teen dolls (Benjamin and Dominique), but I wanted Anthoney for his locs.

American Teen Tara has also arrived.

I never noticed until recently (or at least I didn't remember) that Tara has a darker skin tone than Dominique. I didn't purchase Anthoney and Tara years ago when I purchased the others because they are so similar, but now I've decided that there is enough of a difference to warrant adding them to my collection.
Here, Benjamin and a redressed Dominique pose with the new arrivals. Anthoney and Tara will stay in their boxes for now.

Hasbro and Disney Moanas have arrived. The gift bag is from my husband (it contains non doll related gifts). He didn't know I was getting Moana dolls, and I didn't know about this Moana gift bag, so this was quite a coincidence.

American Girl mini Gabriela has arrived.

Gone With The Wind Prissy has arrived. She will be receiving a new body (one of these days).

Some fashions also arrived. Thank you Black Doll Enthusiast for letting me know that Teen Trends fashions would probably fit Dasia and friends.

Monica loves the outfit, necklace, purse, and drink. Moana loves the shoes. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to ever find any shoes for Moana, so I was relieved to see these cute big shoes in this fashion pack. Moana is wearing a Curvy Barbie fashion below. I don't think that any of my dolls can wear the earrings,

I saw these cute dresses that come with necklaces and purses (all handmade) while searching for Teen Trends fashions on eBay. The seller was having a Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale, so that's what I did. Winx Club Layla (in the middle) only had one dress, so I decided that she needed a new one.

You'll be seeing all of the new doll arrivals again soon...

Curvy Dolls Fashions

I told myself that I would ignore the latest packages to arrive until next Saturday, because I have so much to do. But on this dark and rainy Saturday, I caved to the temptation.

This fashion pack for curvy Barbies arrived this week. If you plan on buying this one, be careful, because there's one that looks almost exactly like this that fits standard sized Barbies. Make sure that the check mark is under the curvy silhouette at the upper right.

This Barbie Fashionistas Zig & Zag doll also arrived this week. I had previously decided not to buy her, but since seeing her potential in how others have customized her, I changed my mind.

Still reeling from the loss of my Janay's hair, I found myself on eBay searching for Janay (why, I don't know). I saw this one that I don't recall seeing before. She's African Dancer Janay. She's begging to be released from her box so that she can dance dance dance with her articulated body, but this one will wait.

So this is what I was REALLY shopping for when I purchased Zig & Zag and the curvy fashions. But this Musician Barbie will have to wait until next Saturday or later, because I feel that I will need to spend some quality time with her when I do release her from her box. She has some cool accessories.

I struggle somewhat with photography, but I figure that my photos are decent enough for this blog. You can see what I'm talking about well enough in my photos for the most part. However, my videos have been a different story. They come out so dang dark! I really am trying to improve with my photography and my videos. So another one of my purchases arrived this week, and I did take these out of the box intending to use them today, but one of them looks like it was damaged during shipping and has a piece broken off. So back in the box they went, and they will probably be going back to where they came from (which I'm dreading, since I do really despise going to the post office).
Not my photo - I don't have enough light to take a photo this good

So today, you will be treated to terrible photos taken on a dark and rainy Saturday. I will spare you the super dark video though (okay, maybe a slideshow).

Here is Zig & Zag Barbie out of the box. I will soon remove her pink lipstick. I'm not planning on repainting her lips right away. She can stand on her own in her shoes.

She made friends with the other curvy ladies right away.

Here are Madam LaVinia and Emoji Fun posing in the new fashions. I know that LaVinia would look better without her stockings, but I don't want to remove them and deal with the adhesive that is holding them up on her legs. The ladies can not stand in the brown shoes that came with this fashion pack, which is really disappointing. Also, I can't tell if that's supposed to be a belt or a necklace that comes with the fashion pack, but it doesn't look right as either. In order to fit as a belt on the curvy ladies, it would have to ride way up high on their waists. The belt (or whatever) looks good on standard size Barbies, though. I wonder if they just used the same belt that they used for the standard Barbie fashion pack. The purse is cute.

Dasia and Monica can wear the flowered shirt from the fashion pack, and that's it. Below, Dasia wears the shirt, along with her Hollywood Starlette top and shoes, and Russell Williams' shorts. Monica wears Tracy Turnblad's dress, and Tracy wears Monica's dress (and both of them wear action figure shoes that are too large).

Below, Dasia wears Monica's dress, and Monica wears Dasia's dress. Zig & Zag wears an outfit that came on a Herobuilders action figure (the top has 2 snaps, and only the top one will snap).

Below, Dasia wears Monica's bikini, and Monica wears the Hollywood Starlette undies that Dasia normally wears. Zig & Zag wears Jakks Pacific Lola's outfit.

Below, Dasia wears a Ken jacket, Monica wears Zig & Zag's dress (it will not close in the back), and Zig & Zag wears a Sparkle Girlz dress.

In the photos below, Dasia wears Mammy's dress, Monica wears a Ken shirt and Mammy's red petticoat and a different pair of Monster High shoes, and Zig & Zag wears a Triad Alpha leotard with shorts from the fashion pack.

Below, Dasia wears the Herobuilders jacket and Scottie Pippen's shorts, Monica wears Mixis Opal's dress (which does not resemble a dress on her) with Russell Williams' shorts, and Zig & Zag wears a Sparkle Girlz dress.

And here's my video slideshow. 😊

Curvy Fun

My two curvy Barbies - Emoji Fun on the left, and Dolled up Denim on the right.

Dolled Up Denim arrived several weeks ago.

Here she is out of her package. She can stand unassisted in her shoes.

Emoji Fun arrived this week. She comes with a couple of extra outfits, and an extra handbag and shoes.

Here she is out of her package. My doll came with hair that is much straighter than the photos on the packaging. She can stand unassisted in both pairs of her shoes.

And here she is close up. Her glasses have made small indentations below her eyes. I like her in her glasses and intend to keep them on her. I wish that the glasses had lenses.

Brace yourself for upcoming plastic nudity. Here is a look at the curvy bodies. They both wear molded on flesh colored panties. Their arms can raise up and out. Their legs can move back and forth, and can open a little. There is no articulation at the elbows or knees.

The dolls can wear Barbie bras and negligees, but they can't wear Barbie panties. Below, Emoji Fun wears a pair of Mixis Opal panties, and Dolled Up Denim wears a pair of action figure panties.

Here they are in Emoji Fun's extra outfits.

Here they are in action figure active wear, compared to other dolls with curves. The dolls are from left to right: Dasia, Hot Toys TrueType Cuban American, Emoji Fun, Dolled Up Denim, Happy Family Grandma, and Lammily.

And here they are with more dolls with curves. The dolls are from left to right: Tracy Turnblad, Dominique, Emoji Fun, Dolled Up Denim, Opal body with Monsieur Z Wild head, and Bessie Coleman.

They can share clothes with my action figure ladies. Below, the suits that they wear fit tightly, and the skirts fit high on their waists, making the length of the skirts appear shorter. My action figure ladies are thrilled with the clothing options that their new curvy friends have provided. The dolls below are from left to right: Opal head on a Takara clone body, Sheva Alomar head on a Triad Alpha small bust body, Emoji fun, Dolled Up Denim, Triad Alpha (dark skin version), and Hot Toys TrueType Cuban American.

The purple dress below is usually worn by my Happy Family Grandma or one of my action figure ladies because it is slightly too large for Barbie. My new curvy ladies can wear it, too. Below on the right, Dolled Up Denim is wearing Grandma's original clothing. The top and sweater fit (although the top is a little short), but the pants will not close in the back. Grandma looks good in Emoji Fun's dress and shoes. Grandma can not stand unassisted in their shoes, and they can not stand unassisted in Grandma's shoes.

On the left, Emoji Fun wears Dominique's clothes. The turtleneck and coat fit, but the jeans are way too short. On the right, Dolled Up Denim wears Opal's original dress, which fits fine. She can put on and stand unassisted in Momoko's boots, but they gape open in the back.

They are wearing Sparkle Girlz clothing below.

They are posing with Mammy below because Mammy did not want to be left out of any post featuring curvy ladies. Both curvy Barbies are wearing boy jeans. Emoji Fun wears a pair of glittery jeans that none of my guys would wear, and a Sparkle Girlz top. Dolled Up Denim wears a pair of action figure jeans and a guy's T-shirt. The jeans are too long for her.

Overall, I love these dolls. I love the size diversity that Mattel has introduced in the new line of dolls, but the size difference isn't huge so they still have plenty of clothing options. I wish that these dolls had articulation. I see in Mattel's promo pics that there are curvy dolls with articulation, so I really hope that those dolls will be released.
