Blue, Green and Yellow

I decided to create a card for this week's Pile It On challenge # 21 of using blue, green and yellow.

Then I combined the CardPatterns sketch # 38 and the Cuttlebug Be Inspired challenge #55 of using my favourite things. Of course I love my cuttlebug and have a particular fondness for swirl embossing folder. Then I added some of my other favourite things, ric rac, ribbon, glittered chipboard, button and twine.

And you know what, I'm quite liking this card!

More House Mouse

This past weekend I finished up a House Mouse card kit I started awhile back.

Aren't they cute?

Steel Cut Oats

I've been reading/hearing about the virtues of steel cut oats and decided to try them out.

I found the PC brand of oats then browsed through a few online recipes.

I settled on this one from the Food network.

These oats are not the instant, sweet out of the packet version. They definitely have a nuttier flavour and more whole grain texure.

While I did like the recipe I tried, I also want to try the slow cooker version of cooking these oats. And if you're an oatmeal fan like I am, you'll like these.

Precious Girl

I created this card for Steve to give to his administrative assistant who is expecting a baby girl.

I based it on CPS sketch 139 and adapted it to a tall card to meet the current Caardvarks challenge.

Then I met the challenge over at Practical Scrappers by using one of my border punches. And I think I also met the challenge at Papertake by creating stripes with the border punches on the left side of the card.

I hope she likes it!

Fall Decor 2009

A few pics of fall decor around my house.

Gourds under glass.

A mantel display.

Mums and rustic looking mini pumpkins.

Gotta love halloween!

My seasonal decorations always seem to change year to year, do yours?

A Whiff of Joy

I broke into my Whiff of Joy card kit this past weekend and created this card.

Isn't she pretty? I can't wait to make more!

Then there were a few different make and takes offered at the crop and as usual Stampin Up had a fun one, here's what we created:

Love the stamp and the pouch is just so cute and can be adapted to any season or event.

Boo!

I made this Halloween card using Close To My Heart stamps I've had for awhile. I decided to colour them in this week's suggested colours at Copic Colour Challenges and while I don't have the exact colours I choose some similar to these:

I used Y38,YR04,G07 and V09.

Then I used the new Cuttlebug diamond plate embossing folder and with the Halloween theme, this card also meets the requirement of Cuttlebug Challenges Be Inspired 54.

Upcoming Review

Well this is a first!

Soon I'll be doing a review for Cookware.com! They have all the cookware, bakeware, small appliances, accessories, barware etc. that you can think of. Some of the many brands they carry, and just to name a few, are Rachel Ray Cookware(one of her sets pictured above), Le Creuset, Cuisinart, Cephalon, Noritake and Pfaltzgraff. And they ship to Canada! How cool is that!

I'll be reviewing the Berndes Crepe pan. I'll can't wait to try it and will be sure to share how the pan performs and how the crepes turn out.

Make A Wish

I broke into my House Mouse stamps to make this birthday card for a friend. Love this stamp! I followed Card Patterns Sketch 37, such a great design!

You can't tell from the pic but I did use a stardust pen to glitter up the dandelion pods(seeds?), love the slight touch of glitter.

I Decided to Pile It On

I decided to create a Halloween card for this week's Pile It On Challenge

It also fits these other blog challenges!

Sketch - CPS
Halloween - Cute Card
Favourite Embellishment(has to be bling!) - PaperPlay
Bling - If The Shoe Fits

I used scraps of cardstock, bling and a Melissa Frances cardstock sticker I had leftover from a card kit. I really like the simplicity of this card.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Simple and Elegant Orchid Arrangement

At the hotel we stayed at in Oahu, they had orchid arrangements spread throughout the lobby that looked wonderful. Of course orchids grow in such abundance there they can afford to spread them around!

But I did take note and found the perfect vase at Micheals(yea for 40% off coupons)to make my own arrangement.

So this is how easy it is, put a few inches of water in the bottom of a square vase, add a stem or two of orchids, and voila, a simple but elegant arrangement.

At our cardmaking night earlier this week, I also made this card:

It follows this week's CPS sketch and again uses the PTI Labels stamp as well as their Everyday Button Bits stamp.

Harvest Blessings

Last night I had a great evening cardmaking with friends Dee, Regan, Avril, Audrey, Carolyn, Karan and Joanne.

In between lots of laughing I completed two cards and picked up some great stamping and Copic tips from Dee, Avril and Regan.

I designed this card based on this week's Card Patterns sketch. It uses the PTI Labels and Fall Elegance stamps. Then for fun I added some bling!

Fall Banner

My guest post is up at Cuttlebug Challenges! Click here to check it out!

I created this fall banner in the colour scheme suggested along with using the morrocan and fleur de lis embosssing folders.

I've been wanting to create a banner for awhile and enjoyed it so much.

To create the banner, each pennant is 6 inches wide by 8 inches long. I used a base of white cardstock then layered on the patterned and embossed paper. I embellished each section using various ribbons, pompoms, lace, twine, buttons, felt leaves, bling etc. from my stash.

I'd love it if you would play along with the Cuttlebug Be Inspired challenge this week, be sure to post your creation here. And if you are not already a follower of their blog, please join them in their quest for 2000 followers, you wont be disappointed by the projects and inspiration to be found there!

Thanks again to Cuttlebug Challenges for selecting me as one of their guest designers this week!
