Thankful Thusday Design Team! Family Movie Inspiration

Hi Everybody!  Happy Thankful Thursday!

Welcome to Thankful Thursday!  The challenge this week was to create a project that is your family's favorite movie. Well, my family is all adults and frankly I was not even sure what to create for this project.  The real problem is that I no longer have little ones.  My family movies are not necessarily "family friendly" themed.  Every time I thought of a movie that my family watches and gathers together to enjoy, I just kept coming up with movies like GodFather or Goodfellas.  EEEKS! So I put my thinking cap on that I remember that I used to say this quote to my son when he was younger and I would tickle his feet or shoulders.  Cory would laugh so much and thinking about this cherished moment..it was obvious what my project would be.   After all the laughing and giggling my little smartie pants, Cory James,  would remind me that boys are not "pretty" and nor do we have a dog and we would continue to giggle.  As a mother, you can not agrue with that kind of logic!

Here is my project:
My project is inspired by the wonderful family movie "Wizard of Oz" The paper pattern was courtesy of Little Scraps of Heaven Designs from their collection called "Land of Oz"
I printed the quote and placed in a black frame.  I added the floral embellishment as well, I used lime green, ruby red with glitter (inspired by Dorthy's shoes of course!, and yellow (yellow brick road)  I added the last piece...a emerald rhinestone center!

Blog Candy to win!

Now my projects:

Project #1
Here is a little gift card holder.  The  holder is red cardstock measured 3x the width of the gift card.  I just punched a circle to create a snowman face, 2 mini flower punches (purchased in the dollar bin at Michael's), cut a square and brim from black card stock to create the snowman's hat.  I used a stamp set from Stampin Up...I have no idea if they even carry it anymore, but it is set of all snowman pieces so you can custom design your own snowman face.  I believe that there are several other companies that have ones like I used...I think Peachy Keen makes them also, but I could be wrong.

I used embossing podwer for the Christmas saying and white ink for the snowflakes.  I love how the white pops off the red cardstock.

Inside Card:

You are going to fold your paper in half to create the center flap.  Use a punch shape to create the hiddie hole for the gift card to stick out of.  A large circle or scallop punch will also work nicely.

Next hold both side up to the middle....now you just created a tri-fold in the middle.  I slide the gift card in and use double stick tape to enclose the gift card.
Again, I embossed the Christmas saying and added more whire snowflakes inside the card.

Project #2
I don't know about you, but I carry a checkbook for just in case of emergencies.  I lack getting all my stuff to on-line paying.  I love creating these covers every year.  They are simple to create and I customize them for my receivers.  Favorite covers, sports, hobbies, themes, collections...whatever they are into.  I love to add a little of "me" with funny, snarkie, or whimiscal quotes.

Let just say this...they are simple to create and CHEAP!!!  I usually go over to Michael's, Dollar Tree, or the Dollar General....hello they are only a $1.00 and if you are lucky 2/$1.00!  They are the yearly pocket calendars!  It really doesn't matter what is on the covers, I just grap about 20 of these!   Easy and breezy!

Just remove the cover and create your own!  I tend to leave the yearly calendar in there as well just so they have that too!

I used a stamp and water colored the image.  I used this image because I adore the "Old Hollywood" glamor.   I used green as the highlighted color since this is for Christmas In July!  The  background paper comes from the DCWV Lemon Flower Stack.  I added some matching green rhinestones for some bling to match the sparkle of the silver glitter paper.

So get busy Rockin' YOur Craft!   I can not tell you that co-workers, friends, and family will love this little home made goodie creation!

Now for my project:  I created 6 X4 custom notecard holders.  Each holder has 4 different cards and matching envelops.   I don't know about you, but email and Facebook just do not send the same message as a card sent in the mail.  I love getting mail from friends and family...I see them in the stack of bills and they are ALWAYS the fist thing I open!   Towards the bottom of the page you will see a mock up on how I created the pocket holder.  If you need more directions, just let me know!  I have included several design ideas for card designs as well!  Now scroll all the way down for some Rock Girl Blog Candy!

Just A Note Card Rock Girl Style!

Here is  a "Just a Note" card I created.  I created a series of these cards for my college bound son last year.  Since my family sends lots of stuff in the mail and I wanted to make sure he didn't forget to send off "Thank You" cards.  This card set served Cory well in college and as a Mom pretty proud that he remembered his manners and appreciated all the little stuff sent to him during the year.

Since Cory is my Rocker, I knew he would love these cards too....and indeed he did!

Fourth of July Inspiration

Hi y'all!

I hope that the weekend has treated you all well!  Yesterday I spent the morning creating, scanning, and posting blog updates.  I also was able to complete my first sewing project...a summer dress.  No worries, I will posting a picture of my dress in a few days!  In the afternoon I spent some quality time with my friend, Christine and her husband, Tim enjoying a backyard BBQ!  It was yummy!

I wanted to post some last minute Fourth of July inspiration....meaning some cards and layouts.  If you are interested in how I created any thing, please feel free to leave a comment and I will post instructions!

I would like to thank all the men and women how sacrifice for my freedom and thank you to all the families that also make the sacrifice having their love ones away.  My heart is filled with joy and happiness that I know of people so willing to make such sacrifices for the better of our country and fight for the Good Ole' USA.

Yankee Doodle Dandy July CD Calendar Insert

Happy Fourth of July to everyone!  I hope everyone is getting to enjoy nice weather and celebrating with family and friends this holiday weekend!

If you don't know yet, but I love calendars!  I love them and love to create them.  Last year I created CD calendar for 2010 for all my family for Christmas gifts.  Although, it is from 2010, I still think it is something to share even a year later.  My hopes is it may lead you to some inspiration to create your own CD calendars, layout, or card ideas.

Enjoy!
