we went to the outer banks in north carolina for halloween weekend. we had a few really nice beach days and had a blast just hanging out with friends at the ginormous beach house! here are a few pics of our trip.
kids have been going crazy over silly bandz for a while now. our friends rich and jessica came to us with this idea to make some shapes for the lds people. we've been working on getting it going for a few months and we finally have our product. the website is a work in progress, but is up and running! we have a million ideas for different shapes, but started out with the initials CTR, LDS and BOM and then the shapes of the golden plates, temple and shield.
to all of my fellow bloggers out there, we are trying to spread the word and get our product known. if you mention righteous bandz on your blog with our link, we'll send you a free bag of bandz with your order! email when you've done it and i'll add the free bag to your order. we are also hoping to get the product out to missionaries all around the world. if you have any friends or family on missions, email their names and addresses and we'll send them a pack! contact@righteousbandz.com or rochellero@gmail.com
thanks for your love and support!!
ps. iphone lovers, johne's iphone app is done and will be in the apple store within the week. check out his work!
poor nate or should i say crazy nate!!! the boys like to make a slide out of their mattresses in their bedroom. they take one and prop it up on the top of jack s bed and slide down. seemed pretty safe and harmless until this happened!! i was downstairs, heard a thump and a scream. i raced up to find a pool of blood on the carpet near an ikea bench that actually has cushions on top but must have managed to hit the corner. blood was gushing from nate's head so i grabbed a towel and started to apply pressure (when he would let me). jack went and got daddy and we tried to calm him down. we first tried the dr's office since it's around the corner, but it was a friday afternoon and no openings. we then dropped jack off at our neighbors (thanks so much to the jensens!!) and went to the ER. we drove with nate illegally in johne's lap and were lucky not to get in an accident or get pulled over. he was starting to get sleepy on the way there, so we kept him talking and looking for things out the window. there wasn't a wait when we got there and we went right back. they gave nate the shots to numb him up, then stapled his wound. he didn't cry or even move the whole time. he was a champ! luckily there was no other sign of head trauma and he will get the staples removed thursday!
i can't believe my baby nate is 3 already!!! we have been trying to call him big nate since we have a new baby, but that hasn't really stuck yet. he's been our baby for almost 3 years and he is so lovey and cuddley it's hard to believe he's not a baby anymore. we are so blessed to have our sweet little nate in our family! it's hard to get mad at him with his big dimpley smile!! nate will love and hug just about anyone and most people automatically love him because of that! we love you nate and happy birthday!!!
nate got a mailbox and it came with a happy birthday card
the key that opened the mailbox was his fav! he carries it around in his pocket!!
jack's first day of preschool was september 13th. he was a little apprehensive at first because his teacher from last year, mr. jake, wouldn't be there. he loves it now and loves his teacher miss danielle!! he likes her because she's short! the way he says it is really cute because he can't say his r's! i'm especially grateful for preschool this year because jack was really sad when all of his buddies got to go to kindergarten. it keeps him busy enough so he doesn't get too sad when he asks why his friends can't come over to play! i'm glad to have him home 1 more year. he's been such a good helper. he and nate are such good playmates and we'd all miss him too much if he were gone all day! yay for preschool!
nate has been saying for weeks that he wanted monica to cut his hair, not mommy, not daddy but monica!! when it came time he stalled, tried to hide and run away. finally i brought the wagon over to him and he happily got in and agreed to a haircut!! yay for wagons and yay for monica!!! we are so glad monica is 6 hours away!
after
before
ps. ok so i got my before and after mixed up but too lazy to change it now! i blame it on the blogging and typing with 1 hand!!
pss. it's amazing what a haircut can do! he looks so much older in his after pic!!
we had a ton of fun with my family! we watched football, movies, ate lots of yummy food (thanks to my mom and everyone else that helped cook!), played games, went swimming, played at the park, cut hair, played outside, rode scooters and bikes, took pictures, laughed a lot, did a little shopping and most of all had fun just hanging out!
my parents with the grandkids (minus levi)
my grandparents in their boise state attire with me, my brother nate, my 3 boys and jane
we blessed asher labor day sunday while all of my family was visiting. aj wore the same little suit that the other 2 boys wore on their blessings, but they were 2 months old. aj was only 2 weeks old, so it was a little big. it was extra special having my grandparents here visiting all the way from boise! we had such a great time with everyone and feel really lucky to have all my siblings live relatively close to us! thanks to everyone that came and participated in the blessing!! aj is such a special addition to our family. he has been such a good baby and we are blessed he is healthy and strong. we love our baby aj!
we are so excited for our little asher jay gledhill to join our family!!! he was born thursday august 19th at 8:53 pm. he weighed 6 lb 9 0z and was a short 17 1/2 in long. i was induced at 36 weeks, 6 days because of preeclampsia. labor was just over an hour and relatively easy. aj has done remarkably well considering his early arrival. he has had no problems that usually come with babies being pre-term. we are so excited to have him home with us and have enjoyed every minute of our time with him! welcome to this world and to our home baby aj!
my last 2 OB appointments i haven't had the greatest luck with driving. a month ago i got pulled over not once, but twice on the way there and the way home for expired tags. it wasn't like the tags were a month overdue, but over 6 months!!! oops on our part. it totally got overlooked. i'm just surprised we didn't get pulled over earlier! luckily i only got one $50 fine that won't go on my clean record!
on friday i had another appointment, luckily this time the kids got to stay home with daddy. i enjoyed my time with no kids, went to my appointment then ran errands. on my way home i got rear ended by a vietnamese lady who couldn't speak a word of english. well, i guess she could speak a few works. she said sorry about a dozen times, but had no idea what i was trying to say when i pulled out my insurance to show her. i was about to call my brother who speaks vietnamese, but then a cop pulled up and helped her get all of her info. i was a little worried she wouldn't have insurance and we'd get stuck paying the bill. luckily i got her insurance info, there no one was hurt and not much damage done, just a little hole and dent in my bumper.
so i'm a little scared to go to my next OB appointment. hopefully my driving experience doesn't escalate into something else!!!
who will be the 1 millionth viewer on jack's youtube video?? (934,000 views) if it happens to be someone we know then there will be a prize involved (to be determined by locale)!
the boys have been riding their scooters almost every day the last month or so. they both love to be outside and love to go super fast! i've been terrible about taking pictures lately. luckily johne was around to snap a few shots! jack dressed himself, so i can't take credit for the sweat shorts with a polo or socks and crocs! he would wear his sweat or his mesh shorts every day if i would let him!
i love nate's cute little face under his helmet!
our neighbor has an owl on their fence. i think the boys think it's real. the head moves around and every time it looks at them they scream and run away!
we know jack's pouty face all too well! i wonder if he gets that look from me or johne?
we are officially going to be the house boys and i have accepted the fact that i will always be outnumbered! i pretty much knew it was going to be a boy, but everyone else had some hope for me!! jack was the most disappointed. when our sonographer (anne) announced it was a boy, jack said "awwwwww, i wanted a girl baby"!!
everything looks healthy in our baby boy. anne said he's a very active baby. he could hardly sit still for her to get measurements. he also showed that he preferred his left hand. anne was willing to bet that we will have a left hander. his left hand was up at his face the whole time, sucking fingers and playing with his nose or mouth. i've read a few stats that show which hand babies prefer in utero is very likely to be the dominant hand, so we'll have to see in a few years! we are all very excited for this little boy to join our family, but need some help on the name. post comments with your suggestions!
johne has been letting the secret out so i thought i would post. he is so excited he can't contain himself!!! :) i wanted to wait until i was 12 weeks, but that didn't stand a chance! i will be 9 weeks on friday and yes, i've been sick. not only with morning sickness (all day), but with pneumonia. i've managed to make it through the last month with super daddy's (johne) help. he has taken over all my responsibilities~cooking (well we had a lot of take out), cleaning, taking care of the boys and more~ as well as take care of me and he even managed to work a little. a big thanks to melissa who took the boys for an afternoon, to kimber who took the boys 2 whole days and to the madrishins who took the boys several times!! i probably would have landed in the hospital or the nut house without everyone's help!!! i'm starting to feel a little better partly due to the magic pill (zofran, i don't know why i didn't try it with my last 2 pregnancies) and partly because the pneumonia is starting clear up. thanks again to everyone who helped, especially my sweet hubby!!! oh yeah, and i'm due september 10th!
green fluff (pink fluff in todays case) is what i make when my parents leave behind a whole tub of cottage cheese! i used strawberry jello this time and it is SOOOOO yummy!! you can even use sugar free jello if your counting calories! i'm a little weird and even like to use marshmallows that are little hard. at first they make it chewy, but by the next day the texture is just the same as fresh marshmallows. thanks mom and dad for not eating all of your cottage cheese! and thanks ra for the yummy recipe!!
we had a blast celebrating our first christmas ever in our home! my parents flew from cali, tj and lauren drove in from kentucky and rhett and monica flew in from utah!! we had way too much fun together and it didn't last nearly long enough! thanks everyone for making our christmas special!!
choo choo train tracks from santa, the boys will still play with them for hours!
this pic is for my brother nate and one the few pics johne was in!
