Handle with Care / Sleight Family
The Day Life Changed
On March 29 2010 Evan was driving to work when his tire blew which pulled him to the right and caused his Explorer to roll. He was badly injured. He broke C-5 C-6 in his neck and is now parlayed from the neck down. If the UPS drive had not been behind Evan he would of not been found until morning because he rolled off the road far enough no one would of seen his Explorer. Our life for the Evan Sleight family has been changed forever and we are now learning how to take care of Evan. This blog is to show our ups and downs on our new journey.
And the journey also contiues with our family now that it has been two years almost three. We still have our ups and downs just like all families do.

Big project ahead
Sorry for being such a slacker and not keeping things update as I should. I now have a part time job. So things are pretty busy at the Sleight home with summer here kids are running place to place. We have been looking at buying a home. Evan is doing well the surgery has help a lot with his pain and he is getting some of the lost feeling back which is nice for him. So here is the good news. The land that was donated to us we have some gentlemen who are big in the Brigham community who came to us last Friday July 12,2013 and said that they want to help build a home that is wheelchair accessible for Evan. So Evan and I are trying to get the community, our friends and family together to help us with this big project. We are asking anyone who is willing to help please let us know, we are also looking for donations of Money, Time, Lumber, Plumbing supplies, Electrical supplies, Cupboards, Tile, Roofing supplies, Wood flooring, etc. anything to build a house. Anyone who is willing to help put together a fund raiser let us know this would also be a big help. It would be wonderful if we could get this house finished before the end of the year. We are so grateful to our dad/grandfather for the roof over our heads for the last three years but we would love to have a place that is ours. The video link that I have added was made for ABC Extreme Makeover but they cancelled the show. It helps tell our story and how our kids all felt. Some of the kids still cannot express in words how they felt when they heard the news. We are so grateful for all the love and support we have had from everyone we know. Please know that we love each one of you and hope you are all doing well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hW8HFNtZOok

Prayers for Evan
Well Evan and I are here in Colorado. He has surgery on Oct 9th and will be in Craig Hospital for a few weeks. It is going to be about 8-10 hours of surgery and hopefully everything continues to get better for Evan after. The Doctor says he is going to be really sore for a while and that the tethering (scare tissue) Surgery will help relieve him of some of the pain, spams. He said he might get back the feeling he has lost but might time will only tell. He could get back more than what he had but that is a small chance but always hopeful thinking. SO Please those of you who still follow along keep Evan in your prayers and send a few extra on Oct 9th that everything goes well for him. We are very grateful to all of you. Love Robyn

Update
Well we finally have a appointment for Logan to get the MRI in Las Vegas. We will be heading out early on Thursday morning. Hopefully we will get some answers from this MRI which is to show us alot more things then the last one. It would be nice to know whats up and get Logan feeling better. Keep us in your prayers that all will go well and that we willbe able to find out whats up with Logan. Also it is 19 days before we leave for Colorado please keep Evan in your prayers also. I am hoping that the surgery on Oct 9th will make him have less pain and he will start to feel better. Right noe the pain is bad and he has no stamina. Tresithney and Sariah are now in all day kindergarten and are loving it. It is quiet here at home. School for all the kids is going well and I am glad that they are all enjoying school. Now we have to get Evan feeling better and then he and I will be able to go do more things together. Well thank you for all your support and love you give to our family. Love ya all Robyn

Back to School
Well the kids are all back in school and loving every minute of it. The littlest girls have started kindergarten and love it. Evan and I are home without any kids for three hours and man is it quite. It is weird not having the noise of the kids. Well Evan is doing okay. We have one month before we leave to go to Colorado for his surgery. I am so grateful for the friends that are going to house the big kids while we are gone and for grandma and pa Sleight for taking the little girls and dogs. I know that all the kids will be doing well while we are gone which is nice Thank you SO much for this to all the friends and family which are helping.
As for going back to Craig Hospital it will be good to see our Craig family and know that Evan is in good hands while we are there. I can depend on the staff to take good care of him and cannot worry so much about his care but on him recovering well.
Thank you for all the support, prayers and care you have shown me and my family. We are grateful to you all that have kept up with us and for those of you that are just joining us. We love each and every one of you and could not do this challenge without your help.
With all our love Robyn
