For Christmas Eve we had a big family party planned with my side of the family. We were all really looking forward to it. We have dinner and exchange cousin gifts, do a white elephant game and a few people bring silly stories or Christmas poems to share.
This year we decided to have the party at a church building since there are so many of us now. We got there at about 5:00 pm. We were only there about 10 minutes when Delma asked me to take her to the bathroom. I took her in there and she threw up. I wasn't sure what was wrong but wanted to keep her away from everyone so someone suggested we scoot the couch into the gym and let her rest there.

She started getting sick again so I went into the mother's lounge with her in the bathroom and we sat in there for the rest of the party. Poor girl could not stop throwing up. The party was in West Valley or I would have just taken her home. They used a microphone in the gym for all the activities so Delma and I were able to turn on the speaker in the mother's lounge and listen in.
My sister Erica wrote this silly poem with silly things that people have done over the past year. It was really cute. Also, Delma was going to recite her snowball poem but had me do it for her instead. Poor girl was miserable.
TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS 2012
Twas the night before Christmas and all through the family,
All the grown ups are sleeping, well not really.
The children are not nestled all sung in their bed,
They are up running about making a mess instead.
While grandpa is playing Heroes on his Ipod,
Grandma was so lovingly tucking in tripod.
Kiara is wide awake, crawling all around,
What puppy is she this time a lab or a hound?
Shannon is very busy but
not happy at all,
She is standing in one place holding up her wall.
Kyler is in his bedroom his frustration increases,
He tries over and over to say Reeses Pieces.
Natalie is happy her day can not get better,
From a boy at church she got her first love letter.
Brennen walks through the door he’s done with his check-up,
The dentist is not happy again Brennen threw up.
And Keaton feels he has something to prove,
He's been practicing to master his new dance move.
Porter’s looking through his work from
kindergarten,
He is reminiscing about how old he has gotten.
Being detectives is Steven and Yu-Hsaun’s new skill,
They are doing all they can to stop a puppy mill.
Tevin's in the TV room, the controller he clicks,
He just watched his seventh movie on Netflix.
If your doors keep closing and lights are off and on,
Look around and you will be sure to find Zaxton.
Travis is in the kitchen cooking at a slow pace,
Hoping his chili will win, and not come in second place.
Nolan is in the kitchen too, baking up a storm,
He's made so many goodies he can't keep them all warm.
TJ is doing summersaults down the hall,
He made it all the way without hitting the wall.
Kanessa is singing a song to her Ma and Pa,
All of them ending with a hehe haha, ha.
Addie is crawling around on her tippy toes,
She smiles and laughs and crinkles her nose.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
We ran to the door to see what was the matter.
And what to our wondering eyes should appear,
But Jan on a sled being chased by a deer.
Becky is outside with her little baby bump,
With her shovel in hand she pulls up a tree stump.
Erica is in the garage, even though it is late,
Ryan can't open the door, it's stuck on a license
plate.
Jason returns from the lake, with his catch in hand,
Delma is with him, her fish is bigger and grand.
The big man is coming, the kids race to
their beds,
They are all asleep before they laid down our heads.
He was here and he left in the blink of an eye,
The adults headed for bed with a yawn and a sigh.
But we heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight,
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
After the party we went home, it was pretty late so we got the kids ready for bed. Delma was still really sick. We didn't even end up giving the kids their new pj's before bed and I had to go get Kiara out of bed to leave out cookies for Santa because we forgot. We were up with Delma until about 1:30 am when she was finally able to fall asleep. She came into my room at about 3:00 am and said "mom, I'm really thirsty" I got out of bed and went to the door where she was standing and before I could get there she fainted and fell right into the wall. Scared me half to death! After that I took her downstairs and we hung out on the couch for the rest of the night, not sleeping at all. She was dehydrated and miserable, I couldn't get her to keep anything down. By morning I was starting to worry that we would need to take her to the emergency room. Jason suggested we try warm chicken broth and it worked! Yeah for dads! She hated it but was able to keep it down and after that was able to slowly start drinking water and Gatorade. Christmas morning at our house didn't go how it usually does, but that's ok because Delma is ok.
