Countdown Thoughts
10. Baby will be here in 1 week. Throughout my pregnancy, I constantly think that it will feel close “soon”. “When I’m 30 weeks, it will feel close.” When I’m 36 weeks it will feel close.” Well, now that we’re down to 1 week, it actually does feel close.
9. The hardest thing for me to to do right now is bend down and pick things up off the floor. As a result, my house has been continually messy and driving me crazy. My sister and mom came over on Friday to help me clean. Lifesavers. Not only that, but then Marie took my kids for the afternoon and so my house actually stayed clean for a while! Awesome? Yes.
8. I am nervous about how Calvin will handle the transition. The girls are both super excited and they’ve both been through it before, so I’m not as worried about them. But Calvin is different. He is used to having all of my attention while the girls are at school. And he’s used to throwing tantrums and fits until he gets what he wants. And he’s loud.
7. Baby still doesn’t have a name. Will and I have never been so far apart on names. I have my list that I love, and he has his. And there is no overlap. So frustrating! Well, there is one name that we both like, but we disagree on the spelling. And even that name, I can’t tell if Will actually likes it or if he’s letting me win. (Don’t get me wrong – I’ll take the win. But I want Will to like the name too.)
6. The doctor that delivered Jacey, Londyn and Calvin retired a few years ago. So I’m with a new doctor this time around. And although I don’t have any complaints about him, I find myself missing my old doctor as we get closer to delivery. There was just something comforting and reassuring about being with the same doctor for all three children . . . and now I feel like a rookie again, not knowing what to expect.
5. I can’t wait to sleep on my tummy again.
4. The one project I had to make sure I got done before delivery day was to get the kids scrapbooks updated. With the crazy year we had last year, I never got them done. So I had 2 years to catch up on. I’ve been working on them since January, and I FINALLY got them finished over the weekend. Phew! They are nothing special, but they are done. Super simplified this year. Not a “cute” page to be found. But I think with a fourth baby coming, simplifying was a good idea. Besides, my kids aren’t really going to want to haul 10 volumes of scrapbooks off to college. Simple is good.
3. I remember saying this when I was expecting Calvin, but it’s true this time around as well: It is so fun to see Will and the kids get excited as baby day gets closer. Baby Girl has been my world and my reality for the last 38 weeks. She is always on the forefront of my mind. But for them, it’s easy to forget, especially early on. But now that it’s just around the corner, it’s fun for me to hear them say things like “I can’t believe she’s going to be here in just a few days!” Even Calvin likes to take visitors into Baby’s room and say “Baby sister sleep in the crib. Hers in my mommy’s tummy.”
2. Doctor thinks she’s probably going to be at least as big as Jacey and Londyn were. (8 lb 15 oz.) Hopefully not as big as Calvin (9 lb 14 oz.) I would love it if he’s wrong, and I end up with a 7 lb baby. But I’m not holding my breath. Bets, anyone?
1. I can’t wait to meet this little girl!
