Yesterday was a proud parenting moment. Maylee had just finished going potty (she is in the process of being potty trained) and came straight to the dinner table to eat. We sat down and Ya-Ya asked whose turn it was to say prayer. Maylee immediately replied "my turn." Up to this point, she had never really said a prayer, not even the kind where the kid just repeats what the parent says, so we were ready to help her say this prayer. Before any of us could say anything to help her, she started talking:
"Heavenly fader,
Thank for day
thank go to church
thank go potty..."
at this point she paused and we told her to bless the food. She then continued,
"bless the food
bless the corn and...bless that one."
At which point we all kind of laughed cause she was looking at her plate and didn't know the name of one of the foods on her plate so she just said called it "that one." She then paused and smiled. We then told her to finish.
"name Jesus Christ, amen."
We were shocked that she was able to say such a good prayer with such little help with out saying a prayer before. I guess she is learning just be watching and listening. She is such a smart girl. we love her.
