July

July has been a busy happy month!

We started off to a patriotic start with the kids performing in the Celebration of Liberty Children's Choir. They practiced hard, learned some new songs, and had fun!

Happy Birthday Lindsey! Can't believe she is 11. She just passed off level 6 in swimming lessons. She has found this is one of her favorite activities.

Canoeing on the snake river with dad.

Lindsey got a hold of the camera and the baby. This was one of many poses she did of little Ridgeletta

Happy Birthday Spencer....a teenager now!! He just passed level 6 in swimming too...he is off to scout camp this next week!

This past week we had fun camping in Teton National park with Ryan's parents and brother Andrew and family. Despite the mosquitoes and lack of sleep, I think we all had a great time!

String lake fun

A Tribute to Jackson...In Loving Memory

Thursday was a sad day for our family. We lost the best dog in the world. There was something special about Jackson. He had a cheerful happy personality, and loved to be with us and go wherever we went. He loved the mountains and running carefree along the trails with us. He loved to play ball, catch frisbees, explore the fields with the kids, catch mice, follow us on bike rides.....He was the perfect companion for the family.

Spencer was especially attached to him, and has felt alot of emptiness in his heart ! Spencer and Jackson were special buddies, and spent many long afternoons together exploring and playing in the canal. Jackson was doing what he loved best when he died. Spencer had taken him along on one of his explorations, complete with net, b.b. gun, axe, and walking stick. Jackson was hit by a car and died a few minutes later in Spencer's lap. I will spare you the details or you may sit here crying for too long, but I can say we will certainly miss this fun loving member of our family!

Merry Christmas!!

Learning early on the ways of a Johnson

Always eager to play fetch

The first time we put a pack on him

He loved hiking with us and being in the mountains

Avid followers of our blog will remember Jackson's dog sled racing...this was in February of 2009

February of 2010 Jackson won first place in the Mutt Race at the dog derby in Ashton! (The race was run at least 100 times, and our doggy had the fastest time out of them all!)

We will miss you Jackson!!

Happenings of Late

We've had visitors!!

Ridge has two cousins his age. Here we have Derek and Aubree's sweet Keaton. He and Ridge are about 2 1/2 months apart.

This is Ridge and Maegan and Aaron's darling Violet! They came for Porter's baptism which was June 5th. I didn't get any pictures but these of the baby cousins...however, we had a special time with the baptism and having family here.

We have a new baby goat!! We named him Lightning. If you look close, he has a "bolt" on his rump, and also a black one on each cheek. He is so sweet! We took him on a training hike, and he did great!

This lake was only 1.3 miles in. We had lots o fun.

Getting Lightening used to the water

Summer is here!! Porter thought he was so cool to design his own water slide.

And last but not least, we had a very HAPPY FATHERS DAY with our very wonderful DADDY!

Six Kids Just Wasn't Enough!!

We decided to add two more to the herd....

Meet Alpine

and Big Jud

Why goats? These ain't no milkers. They're pack goats, and they can carry lots of gear! These two big guys will take quite the load off our backs when we go backpacking this summer...we've got lots of diapers and wipes to pack in! This is our solution of how we are to still get out in the mountains with lots o little ones!

We've been taking them out on day hikes to get them all ready for the real thing this summer.

Helping them learn to stay behind

Here are the rest of my little goats...
