Daniel's 5th Birthday

Daniel is 5! We had a great weekend of celebration. We started out the morning with special waffles. For dinner, we went to the Japanese Steakhouse with Mimi & Granddad and then had birthday cake at home. The next day we celebrated at Daniel's party with his friends. He had a Hot Wheels theme, a bouncy house and a PINATA! Everyone had a great time! Enjoy the slideshow!

March 2013

March was a super busy month! The boys had a lot of fun outings, including Dr. Seuss Day at the library, Georgia Aquarium and bowling. We also celebrated Colin’s 3rd birthday this month – what a big boy! We were happy to have Grandma Sharon & Grandpa Joe come and visit us. Also – Daniel started soccer practice this month for the spring season – with Dad as coach. We had school time and play time and lots of good times. Enjoy!

Daniel’s Rocket
Daniel wanted to make a rocket. He drew a picture of the rocket ("instructions" as he called them) and then made the rocket. I only had to help him make the cone shape for the top.

Colin “Bowling”
Colin had a great time bowling. The ramps were all already taken, so we had to try without! He rolled it pretty good (although very slow) for awhile, but then I guess he wanted to play soccer instead.

Bottle Volcano
On the way to the library, Daniel asked me “Why is rock inside the Earth hot?” I told him we could get a book on it. So we got a book about the Earth, volcanoes and earthquakes. While driving home, he was looking at the book and saw a page describing how to make a volcano (sugar, syrup, red juice according to Daniel). He was really excited about it, so we made a volcano!

Daniel’s Math Game
We did a math game today with a die. He rolled the die to get the numbers for the first two squares, then added those numbers for the right column. Pretty good for a 4 year old!

Easter

We had a nice, but cool and rainy, Easter. The boys had an Easter Egg Hunt in the backyard and opened their Easter presents. Their favorite was a little volcano that erupted and out came a dinosaur. Enjoy!

Base Easter Egg Hunt

This weekend we went to the base Easter Egg Hunt. And we were happy to share it with Grandma Sharon & Grandpa Joe, who were visiting! The kids colored pictures and played games. Then they participated in the egg hunt, played at the park, had snacks and played in the bouncies. It was a great day and we were glad that Grandma Sharon & Grandpa Joe could be there with us!

Colin's 3rd Birthday Party

This weekend we celebrated Colin's 3rd birthday! On Saturday we had his birthday party at the YMCA play center. It was Colin's first "real" birthday party. They have a really awesome indoor play area and the kids loved it. We did a fireman theme, with a fire truck cake and decorations. Everyone had a great time! On Sunday (Colin's actual birthday) we went to a birthday party for another little boy in Colin's MDO class. It was super fun and they had the ice cream truck come! After the party we celebrated Colin turning 3 with a little cake with the family. It was a great weekend. Enjoy the slideshow!

Georgia Aquarium

We went to the Georgia Aquarium with friends Ellie & Sarah today. When we first walked in, we went over to the large Ocean Voyager tank, which is a 6.3 million gallon tank! We were looking in one of the huge windows and there was a very large fish swimming around in there. I said "I wonder what that is?" and Daniel said "It's a whale shark." I asked my friend Ellie "Do you know what that big one is?" and she said "I think it's a whale shark." Sure enough - Daniel was right! Thanks to Octonauts, he knew what it was! We went through the large tunnel under the Ocean exhibit and toured the other exhibits, including tropical fish, amazon river, otters, and penguins. The penguin exhibit was one of my favorites. There is a tunnel that you can crawl through and then you pop up in a bubble in the middle of the penguins. I didn't get good pictures of it, because the glass made it hard to get pictures. We finished off with the amazing dolphin show! We all had a great time!
