Paper Take Weekly Challenge - stitching

The 'brief' for this week's challenge is stitching.
I have had this Anita's stamp for years and have never used it. I recently told myself If I have something unused for two years then I should give it away or sell it for charity.
So what am I doing now? frantically going round using everything that han't been used
so that I don't have to give it away. Does anyone else argue with themselves of am I the only 'saddo' in the blogging world?
Basic CS: Plain black and yellow leather look - Paper mill shop
Stamp: Anita's - Scribble flower, coloured with whispers brushstrokes and enhanced with liquid pears.
Sentiment: Hero Arts

How weird is this? I just finished making this card for a Docrafts friend who is ill and shortly afterwards had a look at some of this weeks challenges and found more or less identical layout on Mojo Monday. I was obviously meant to enter this week.

Our Creative Corner Challenge

I was really inspired by this challenge. I love the layout and knew what I wanted to do but it took several attempts before I actually got where I wanted to be and there are still things I would like to improve on.

Basic cardstock: brown leather look and barely pink plain.
Stamps: Inque boutique (silhouettes) and Hero Arts sentiment
Ribbon, liquid pearls and clip from stash

Flavours of Chocolate

This is a card I made for a challenge on Docrafts. Looking at the colours I think I might have had chocolate on my mind at the time (white chocolate, milk choclate, dark choclate) oooh I'm going to have to go to the shop!
Cardstock: milk & dark chocolate bazzill
Paper: Doreen Stoltz download - Rusic Fields.
Sentiment: Hero Arts stamp
Ribbon, flowers and brads from stash.

I thought it was about time to start making Christmas cards. I started with one and ended up doing four - variations on a theme, so it looks like they are going to appear in sets. The tree on the botton left hand card is actually silver, although it looks like gold in the photograph.

Basic CS: bazzill
Cuttlebug folder & die : Snowflakes and flowers
Sentiment: Lakeland

Paper Take Weekly Challenge - buttons and Fabrizio's Christmas card challenge

I think I must design cards in my sleep as I often wake in the morning with the vision of a spectacular card in my mind - unfortunately when I manage to get it to paper it's never as spectacular as it was in my imagination.

The brief for PTW was buttons. I cuttlebugged the tree, cut it out and then fastened 'stem' buttons through the card with wire. I threaded beads onto fishing line thread and wrapped them around the buttons.

Wednesday, 13 August 2008

This card was for a Docrafts challenge. Another one that didn't travel from head to paper.
Basic Cs is pearlized, the brown card is bazzill (embossed with the grid technique) and the blue papers HOTP.The bird stamp (Inkadinkadoo) is stamped in brown and heat embossed with clear powder
The sentiment is Hero Arts. I cut the leaves with a Woodware punch and the tiny flowers with the cuttlebug (hardly worth getting the cuttlebug out for)

Blue Masque (for Ann)

I'm getting very lazy about embosing since I got the Cuttlebug - just 'run it through' Its great!!I used Blue pearlised cardstock for the embossed elements. The papers, beads, flowers and ribbon are all from stash. The sentiment is computer generated and cut and mounted on nesties oval cutters.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge

I love this Penny Black image, but worry I don't do it justice.
The colours were inspired by this pendant, although in the cold light of day there doesn't seem to be much comparison (One G&T too many perhaps?)

Basic CS: Peach pearlized, peach & tan bazzill
Stamp: Penny Back - Modesty, coloured with watercolours.
Sentiment: Hero Arts - 'Anytime Messages'
Ribbon and gems from stash.

Papertake Weekly Challenge

I started making this card for someone (can't say who) but it started 'growing' more and more like Katharina's sketch for this weeks challenge, actually it seemed to have a mind of its' own - it knew where it was going and took me with it!! I use plain white cardstock (15 x15cm). The papers are a Verena Karolyi download and I cuttlebugged the stripe with divine swirls embossing folder and the pale lemon with swiss dots. Sugar Nellie's Sweet Magnolia was coloured with water colours. I accented parts with a piercing tool, computer generated the sentiment and used flowers and brads from stash.
I found these fairies that I have had for ages (about 2yrs) and hardly used. They were 'too nice' to use!!! Is anyone else as 'puddled' as I am? I still think they are beautiful, grown up fairies, sassy and with attitude. The basic cs is pale blue pearlised and I matted and layered the image (which is decoupaged) on pale blue sparkly paper and blue mirri card. The corner stencil is coloured with prisma's and is by Nellie Snellen. The sentiment is stampendous and ribbon and eyelets from stash.

Cute Card Thursday - My First Christmas Card

This card fit the brief for this weeks challenge - 'The two of us' So I decided to enter it. Only 753 to go (only joking - it just feels like that). Nellie & Luca are supposed to look like they are holding hands, but I'm not sure. I used the Cuttlebug tree embossing folder and cut out the tree. Nellie and Luca are coloured using watercolours and Prismas. I used hand made paper, ripped and torn to give the appearance of snow.
Basic CS: Craft Creations - pearlised
Stamps: Sugar Nellie (Nellie & Luca) Penny Black - parcels
This card was inspired by a challenge which I couldn't enter due to computer failure. I subsequently 'morphed' itself into something entirely different. The challenge used one Half of a circle which I didn't think was big enough so I used the other half as well and placed them either side of the card and highlighted with liquid pearls. The coloured chipboard flower was inspired by Erica (hers' are far superior to mine - check them out)

Papers: Spring Romantic by Doreen Stolz
Die cut leaves, flower, brad and ribbon are all from stash.

Friends are always asking me for wedding or anniversary cards at the last minute so I thought I would do a few and keep them on one side for whenever.......................... I have one in my collection now!!
Basic cardstock: Brown white & peach - the Ppermill shop. I embossed the middle peach card with the Cuttlebug spots & dots folder and highlighted it with white Brilliance pigment ink.
I used round nestabilities which I off set against each other.
I 'made' a small bouquet of flowers which I finished with white ribbon and liquid pearls to decorate (all from stash)
  • I coloured this image late one night, and being an eco friendly 'girl' I have low energy light bulbs. When I looked at it on arriving home from work the next day I fell about laughing. The colours were horrendous and poor Sweet Melody looked like she had jaundice. Another one for the bin and another lesson learnt the hard way - don't colour late at night when you have low energy light bulbs.

Papers: Daisie co. download - Crazy Daisy by Mechelle Condrad
Stamps: Sugar Nellie - Sweet Melody coloured with a combination of watercolours and Prisma pencils
Sentiment: Aud design stamp
Flowers, brads, ribbons etc. all from stash.
