More shaped canvases

As mentioned on an earlier post, students were to create an abstract shaped canvas that represented the essential qualities (as they have experienced it) of a them which might be a song, movie, memory, event, person, place, animal etc.  The class is largely ESL and a mixture of grades 9-12.

Shaped Canvas

Inspired by Frank Stella and Elizabeth Murray, kids in my class which has an unusual class composition of grades 9-12, majority of which are ESL (2/3 of the class) and a handful of special needs plus a few IB 12 students who couldn't fit their timetable into the regular IB class.  It's a challenge to say the least!  But here are a few of the shaped canvas - or at least what they understood the project to be.
