Thanksgiving

We left Tucson and started on our way to Nevada to spend Thanksgiving with my side of the family. We planned to get there the night before, but because of traffic (and us being tired) we decided to stay in Tempe and then get up early and drive to Boulder City in the morning. It had been awhile since we had seen some of the Snow family members so we were excited. We got there as everyone was waking up and we decided we better have the Turkey Bowl BEFORE we ate, or else it might not happen. So we headed to a nearby park to play some football.

It was FREEZING cold so Melissa helped me keep Adam warm. I played a couple of downs and then decided to take him back to Grammy's house. Thanks to all of the cooks we had an amazing Thanksgiving dinner. Steve deep fried the turkey and I have to say that is my new favorite way to eat turkey. It is so moist and yummy and it took only a little over an hour to cook! After the cleanup we played some games and enjoyed each other's company. Family is great!

The next day we decided to brave the crowds and go walk across the new dam bridge and check it out. It is quite impressive and has a great few of the Hoover Dam. It has been nice to drive across it in our recent travels.

The Party

Our little Adam turned ONE on November 4th, 2010 and we were able to celebrate it a few days later at Grandma and Grandpa Kimball's house. It was a beautiful day so we had perfect weather to have the party in the backyard.

The banner I made for the special day.

Adam has 30 cousins on the Kimball side and almost all of them were able to come to the party! We planned some Minute to Win It games and tried to make sure everyone had fun.

Adam had a blast running around the backyard and climbing on and off the trampoline.

The Kimball family has a special "Happy Birthday" song and Adam actually held still to listen to the whole thing so I think he liked it!

I knew there would be a lot of people wanting cake, so I asked my mom to make one to add to what I already had planned. She whipped this cute monkey up the night before and then drove down to Arizona with it the next day. It turned out super cute. Thanks Grammy!

This is the cake I made for Adam to smash. I love the Junior Mint eyes.

I saw these cupcakes online and I thought they would be fun for all of the cousins. Grandma Kimball and Aunt Kitty helped me make them and I think they turned out even cuter than the ones I originally saw.

Cake time!

Adam wasn't very interested in the cake...

so we all tried to help him taste it and convince him he should dig in.

We tried the red balloon from my mom's cake and it was a success.

Well, at least for a few more minutes than the first one.

Off to play in the grass.

Tucson

For November Rex's externship was in Tucson and we were lucky enough to be able to spend the month with his niece, Jenessa and her husband, James. We had a great time together and were so grateful to them for letting us stay with them. Rickie and Lucy are their cats and Adam was in love with them instantly. Lucy pretty much steered clear of him once he got his hands on her, but Rickie was a champ and let Adam "hug" him and "pet" him all day long. I couldn't help but think of Elvira from Looney Tunes. Remember her?

It must be a red head thing! Ha Ha.

Keeping an eye on the neighborhood.

"Mom, why can't I carry Rickie around?"

He was so proud of himself for climbing up on the couch all by himself.

We were able to spend Adam's actual birthday with James and Jenessa in Tucson and then we had his party a few days later in Phoenix.

Birthday Boy!

I can't believe my baby is ONE already!

"That isn't where my ticklish spot is."

"Um, Mom, I don't think I feel comfortable with you taking a picture of me without my clothes on. What is going on?"

Daddy reassuring him that everything will be okay.

"Okay, now I get it. Yum!"

Halloween

We were so happy to see Rex at the airport after being apart for two and a half weeks. It was so fun to see Adam's face light up with a huge smile when he saw his daddy. After we made it back to Rex's parents house we got Adam in his monkey suit for the Halloween party going on near the church.

Much needed Daddy time

Adam loves being flipped, spun, and thrown around. Of course, a monkey also loves hanging upside down!

Adam wasn't too into the treats, especially once he saw Aunt Cari's dog and its new friend.

Next he wandered over and noticed that there were some horses at the party. So Rex waited in line with him so he could ride the little pony.

Later on he did decide to wander around and check out what all of the other kids were doing. He grabbed a couple of candy bars, but his favorite "treats" were a orange balloon and a little glow stick bracelet. I didn't grab my camera in time to capture a shot of him with balloon before it popped. He was kicking it all around like a soccer ball.

On Sunday after church a bunch of the cousins came over for dinner and we all ate outside and enjoyed the PERFECT weather. I loved it! The cousins all put on their costumes for us to see. Obviously I didn't get a good picture so I'll have to try to find another one from one of my sisters-in-law.

That night we drove down to Tucson so Rex could start his next externship at the VA hospital there on Monday morning. So that's where we are now staying with Rex's niece, Jenessa, and her husband James. They are SO awesome for letting us come stay with them and it has been really fun so far. Thanks guys!
