the end.
lacklustre. boring. *yawns* what's new.
thus ends my academic life.
and i'm trying out this little new thing lately--independence.
i've shopped alone, hung out at a cafe alone, visited the hairdressers' alone, went to the library alone.
all these many and forthcoming "alones" will culminate in the ultimate sign of independence--eating alone.
i kid you not.
CATS!
i never thought i would say this but
I LOVED CATS!
still, not the animal. the musical. i was way impressed with the cast's voices and the songs! some of them were actually really catchy!
and i think the reason why it was difficult to understand for some people was cos it didnt really have a plot? i was quite disturbed by that too. they talked about wanting to elect another cat to be reborn into another life and then they kept introducing all these characters without mentioning the issue until the end.
so i thought there was something i hadnt caught on to so i googled it when i got back and would you have guessed? it was just that. there isnt really a story to Cats! it's just that in the process of making the decision the cats talk about all these other characters. and so there isnt really a lead actor or actress! why is Grizabella always credited as being the lead actress? i think she only sang ONE song, the ever famous "Memory" but she hardly danced or even sang another song! tts pretty unfair to the rest of the supporting cast who sang and danced their hearts out but nobody even knows their names.
no matter. the songs were good! and all the little kids in front were so in love with the rum tum tugger! i actually like the actress who started singing the first stanza of "memory", i think she was Jemima. her voice is really crystal like! and to think she wasnt even credited as a lead. anyway i got the cd and i realised that the original Jemima was Sarah Brightman! Jemima's role is so underrated!
btw the cast were really behaving like cats! they climbed up whatever they could find with swift, deft movements like real cats! thank goodness i wasnt sitting at the aisle, otherwise i might have cried out.
on a separate note, i was watching P a r i s H i l t o n's "My New BFF" on MTV and i'm really amused! she's looking for a new BFF through a competition! hahahaha! how silly! and she has to eliminate a contestant each episode ANTM-style. i don't get it. if people need to audition to be her friend, then i think the only people who would be bothered would be her fans, and i'm not sure she would want a fan for a friend? it's really stupid. and btw she also has challenges for them each episode. my pupils are so far up the top of my head.
anyway there's this really weird fanatical girl who's now into the final 2 and she scares me! everytime PH comes into the room her eyes grow wide and she stares at PH in rapt attention and she just keeps gushing about her "she's so pretty, inside and out", "you're so pretty", "you're every photographer's dream", etc. can it be freakier? but she's into the last 2 so PH obviously likes the idol worship.
